[SIDE B] DAY 2 – AOI HAMASAKI (THE AWAKENINGS)
I woke up around 08:30 in the morning. It was a sunny day. However, it was kind of humid and thick air, which made it difficult to breathe.
While I was stretching my legs, I saw Number Four was sleeping in King Kuma’s arms. However, Number Three was not around the campfire.
Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep…
That alert sounds were coming from King Kuma. So, I went over and took a closer look at it. Meanwhile, Number Four had woken up and looked at me.
“Good morning, Aoi.”
“Oh, good morning. Number Four.”
“Oh, it is King Kuma’s alarm clock.”
Number Four was reading my mind again.
“Oh, I see. By the way, I haven’t seen Number Three around here. Do you know where he goes?”
Number Four stood up and then had a look.
“Probably, he went over there.”
“Oh...”
“Yes, he is having a dump behind those bushes. As you know, he got too much poop in his tiny body. Hehe…”
Abruptly, Number Three’s voice was coming out from those bushes.
“Number Four, I heard that… Just a minute, I'm almost finished.”
A moment later, Number Three came out from those bushes.
“Good morning, Aoi.”
“Good morning, Number Three.”
Number Four starred at Number Three and said.
“Did you wash your hands?”
“Could you please be more reasonable? Like I could find a hand sink in here…”
“Ugh… You are gross… Did you use your hands to… Ugh… Gross!”
“No! You think too much… Here are my hands… Go… Smell them…”
“Away from me… Argh!”
Number Three started chasing after Number Four in return.
While I was looking at them chasing each other. Then, I unexpectedly realized there were five bear cubs, which were also running towards them. Number Three stopped playing instantly, while Number Four was talking to those bear cubs.
Later on, Number Four looked at me and said,
“My five Koguma had reported that Crazy Seventy-Eight and its army will be here shortly. You shall leave at once.”
“Only me?”
“Aoi, yes. Bring my five Koguma with you. They will protect you from dangers.”
Number Three nodded in agreement.
“Umm…”
“We are running out of time. Aoi, please go now.”
“What about you two?”
“Number Three and I will stay and fight.”
“Umm…”
“Aoi, find its entrance for us.”
“But I don’t know where it is.”
Suddenly, Number Three was holding my right hand and said,
“Aoi, believe in yourself. You can sense its presence.”
“But how?”
Number Three looked at me for a while and then he kissed my right hand.
“Lady Aoi… Remember, you are always one of us.”
Then Number Three left the camp site. He was going ahead of Number Four into the battlefield.
I spaced out for a little bit. Then, I turned to Number Four.
“Huh? Number Four, what did he say?”
Number Four answered with a smile.
“Aoi, Number Three had told you the truth. You are a hybrid ET too. Hehe…”
“Me? How?”
“Your daddy is one of my brothers. That means you are my niece. Hehe…”
“Really?”
“Of course. But I have to go now. Number Three isn’t that reliable. He always needs my help. Hehe…”
“Will we meet again?”
Number Four opened her arms and gave me a hug.
“My lovely niece, don’t worry… Very soon, we will meet again.”

Number Three had already smashed a couple hundreds of the undead, when Number Four and King Kuma had arrived at the battlefront.
“Number Four, you are late!”
Number Four and King Kuma were also fighting on their way there, when they finally met up with Number Three.
“She is my niece!”
“So?”
“Never mind. Virgin like you never understand.”
“Now I’m angry! Argh…”
Number Three charged into the crowd of undead with his Double Sins. Then, he started spinning it around, which had created a whirlpool effect. Several hundreds of undead got pulled into it and got killed instantly. Afterwards, Number Three had fallen back a little bit.
“See… Number Four… That looks cool. I will call it – Dancing with Death.”
“Number Three… Watch me… King Kuma, berserk mode.”
King Kuma changed into berserk mode. It launched both of its fists towards the enemy which had caused several of the undead got smashed instantly. There were also two long chains attached to both of its fists. When those fists had landed onto the ground, King Kuma started to spin while it was advancing into the enemy’s frontline. At this moment, King Kuma was a deadly walking whirlwind on the battleground.
“Tch… is the same.”
“No way! King Kuma is a whirlwind more super-duper than yours.”
“Anyways, how many you got?”
“Close to a thousand. And you?”
“Same as you.”
The army of undead was swarming over both of them without its ending. Those monsters were attacking in wave after wave with suicidal determination.
Both of them kept on killing for several minutes until Number Four had proposed a solution.
“It is pointless to keep on going like this. Let’s find out who is behind it.”
“As you wish…”
All of a sudden, Number Three threw his Double Sins out into the enemy. It sliced through the enemy’s frontline until it got deflected into the ground. Number Three unexpectedly realized his Double Sins got deflected by another person, who was standing at the far back on the battleground. And that person was Mr. Hierophant.
“Mr. Death, you are a bit rusty now.”
“Oh, are you, Mr. Hierophant… But, I’m still better than you.”
“Haha… Trash talk.”
“No, you see… At least I’m fighting in the battle… Look at you… You just are hiding at the back, and let your minions do your dirty work… Haha… You are slacking off.”
“Haha… Trash talk again. But you have a point.”
Mr. Hierophant raised his voice and said.
“Minions, stop the attack and wait for my further order.”
Then Mr. Hierophant shifted his glance back to Number Three again.
“Are you happy now?! Mr. Death, come and duel me... It is the greatest moment for the holy one versus the unholy one. Definitely, this is a crusade… The holy war between us… Now come! My Spear of Destiny is waiting for your bloodshed.”
“Okay, okay, okay… No worries… I know you always admire me. But you shouldn’t say that in public…”
“Haha… More trash talks.”
Meanwhile, Number Three turned to Number Four and said.
“Number Four, did you see that thing behind him?”
“You mean that golden covered wooden chest.”
“Yes. That covenant is in there. When you destroy it, the army of undead won’t be able to function anymore.”
“I see. Not a problem at all. Definitely, King Kuma got the power to do so.”
“Okay then listen carefully. I will draw his attention, then you and King Kama start a surprise attack onto the chest… Ready and go!”
Mr. Hierophant stared at Number Four and shouted.
“Ms. Traitor.”
Number Three, Number Four and King Kuma started advancing. Once Mr. Hierophant was inside Number Three’s attack range, his Double Sins started to slice-and-dice everything which got into its way. Mr. Hierophant dodged several of its attacks and then started to use Spear of Destiny for his counterattacks.
Since, Mr. Hierophant was too focused on Number Three. Such that he had missed out someone, which could have allowed Number Four and King Kuma to crash that wooden chest. When Mr. Hierophant realized that, it was too late.
All of a sudden, a scepter had deflected King Kuma’s attack back to Number Four. Number Four got the hit instantly, and she was bounced back several feet away from the wooden chest. Then, a female voice appeared.
“Such a bad girl, Ms. Traitor.”
Meanwhile, King Kuma had fallen back and ran over. Finally, it caught Number Four before she was going to pierce through by the sharp limestone behind it. A while later, Number Four regained her consciousness. Once, she realized there was one more person who was protecting the chest. She found out Number Three was in serious trouble. He was fighting Mr. Hierophant and that female at the same time.
“Two versus one… This is bad…. Especially that bitch is here too.”
Number Four got back on her feet and yelled.
“Ms. High Priestess…. You… Bitch!”
Ms. High Priestess answered with a surprise look on her face.
“Oh mine! You are still alive.”
After King Kuma picked up Number Four and put her on its right shoulder. It started its charging attack on Ms. High Priestess. Although, its charging attack was a direct hit. However, it was deflected once again by Ms. High Priestess’s scepter.
“Tch… Single minded… Ms. Traitor you had never learned and grown… King Kuma’s attacks are meaningless under my Scepter of Deception.”
“We’ll see… Milk cow bitch!”
“Oh mine. You are calling names now… You flat chested little girl!”
As four of them were fighting around that wooden chest. Number Three and Four were trying to destroy it while Mr. Hierophant and Ms. High Priestess was protecting it.
Suddenly, Ms. High Priestess burst out laughing Meanwhile, when Number Four had sensed Aoi was in great danger. Ms. High Priestess looked at Number Four and said.
“Ms. Traitor, we got your niece now.”
At this moment, Number Four got distracted by that message. Meanwhile, Mr. Hierophant’s Spear of Destiny had changed its direction from Number Three to her. King Kuma tried to block the spear but in vain. Spear of Destiny was going directly towards Number Four’s chest area. All of a sudden, Number Three went over and covered her with his own body.
Time seemed frozen during the last moment of the battle. The Spear of Destiny had pierced through Number Three’s heart. Mr. Hierophant pulled his spear out from Number Three’s body without a second thought.
At the end of the battle, Mr. Hierophant laughed.
“Got you… You little brat!”
Number Three’s blood was poured out and covered Number Four’s entire body. She took both of his hands and put them on her chest.
“My silly husband, why did you do such a thing?”
Number Three responded while his blood poured out from his mouth.
“My lovely wife… thank you… your kindness... and your patience… for… these hundreds of years… It seems… this is… the… end of… it… I won’t… be around… anymore… … cause… … my regenerate… does… not… work… … … … I… always… love… you… past life… this life… next life… Forever… …!”
Number Four admitted as tears flowed from her eyes.
“I always love you too no matter how silly you are!”
Ms. High Priestess looked at Number Four with a smile.
“It is all settled. Now, time to die.”
Number Four stared at Ms. High Priestess and said.
“By you? Haha… Huh?”
Number Four looked down to her chest and saw the Spear of Destiny was slowly coming out through her chest. She glanced over her shoulder. A minute later, her lifeless body fell on top of Number Three.
Mr. Hierophant stood behind her and answered in cold blood.
“No, by me! Haha…”
Ms. High Priestess looked at him and asked.
“Mr. Hierophant, what now?”
“Ms. High Priestess, let’s meet up with Mr. Magician first. Probably, he had already captured Aoi.”
Ms. High Priestess nodded in agreement.
Both of them turned around and started leaving the scene. Suddenly, King Kuma moved a little bit and there was an alert sound which was coming from its body while its mouth was moving too.
“Barrier… Activated! Self-destruction sequence starting in fifteen seconds…. 15… 14… 13… 12… 11… 10…”
Mr. Hierophant and Ms. High Priestess looked at each other. They unexpectedly realized that was Number Four’s final attack.
“Ms. High Priestess, barrier’s radius?”
“Mr. Hierophant, five miles!”
“More than enough for me!”
“WAIT! I can’t…”
Hence, Mr. Hierophant was too far ahead of Ms. High Priestess. She had tried to run away from the explosion as fast as possible. Unfortunately, she could hear King Kuma’s countdown at this point.
“5… 4… 3… 2… 1… 0!”
There was a sudden blinding flash followed by a thunder roar. Then, there was a red orange color mushroom cloud which could be seen from miles away. Its blast effect was totally devastating. For those within its impact zone it would be vaporized instantly.
Mr. Hierophant was standing six miles away from the center of the explosion.
“Tch… Ms. High Priestess, it was just too bad. The strongest always survived.”

After Number Three and Number Four advanced into the battlefront, I was left behind with those five Koguma. I was pondering about it for a minute. Finally, I had given up my concern. At this moment, I could not linger any more. I had decided to look for the entrance.
After a while of searching, I still could not find the entrance of City of Light. Although, those five Koguma were pretty helpful. However, I still could not sense its entrance. Afterwards, I kept wandering around the excavation site for a moment until I had reached a dead end.
There was a cliff in front of me. I could clearly see there was a river at the bottom of it. There was no bridge to cross over to the other side of the excavation site. I looked at those five Koguma for a while. And they seemed to understand what was my concern.
All of a sudden, I heard a male voice from behind. Once I turned around, I saw there was a man who was wearing a white laboratory coat and geek-chic eyeglasses.
“Greetings, you must be Dr. Hamasaki’s daughter – Aoi. Am I right?”
“Umm…”
“Let me introduce myself. My name is Mr. Magician. I was one of your daddy’s colleagues. Both of us were working on the same project for the university.”
“Ugh…”
Meanwhile, Mr. Magician was surrounded by those five Koguma. They were ready to go into battle with him.
“Ah… Ms. Traitor’s minions… Koguma in number doesn’t mean anything to me.”
Hence, Mr. Magician was rapidly casting some magic spells and knocked out all of the Koguma.
“Aoi, it's time to go with me.”
He gripped my right arm and was dragging me along with him. Suddenly, a flying kick landed on his head and kicked him out of the way. Afterwards, I noticed that it was King Kuma. But it looked kind of small in size.
Mr. Magician got up and stared at it.
“Haha… a miniature of King Kuma. Those five Koguma could combine and then transform into a King Kuma. That’s pretty interesting though… Oh… Wait…”
Mini King Kuma started attacking Mr. Magician immediately.
Although, Mr. Magician had dodged some of Mini King Kuma’s jabs and punches. But in the end, he still got nailed down by the typhoon.
“Tough luck… Ugh… Ms. Traitor is still alive… What the heck are they doing now?”
Mini King Kuma started advancing for its second wave of attacks. A triple round kick, crescent kick, front kick, front kick, right straight punch, side kick, left jab, back kick, left uppercut and the right uppercut.
Once again, Mr. Magician dodged most of the attacks. But he still got hit by its two uppercuts combo. He jumped back a little and regrouped his focus.
“Tch… Close range melee… Take my lightning spells!”
Mr. Magician was rapidly casting lightning spells onto Mini King Kuma. Nevertheless, those lightning spells seemed to have no effect on Mini King Kuma.
“Dang! That thing isn’t a robot at all.”
At the end, Mr. Magician was crowned by Mini King Kuma. When Mini King Kuma was launching out its final blow onto Mr. Magician. Suddenly, it just dropped dead onto the group.
Mr. Magician smiled and said.
“Lucky, she is dead now. Finally, they killed her over there.”
Mr. Magician gripped my hands and then I was dragged along on the ground by him. While I was kicking and screaming at him.
“Stop! Let me go... STOP! STOP! HELP!”
“BE QUIET!”
A moment later, I felt the ground start shaking. Mr. Magician looked ahead and said.
“Dang! A huge seismic wave!”
Mr. Magician instantly casted a floating spell for himself. However, I got pushed by that huge seismic wave and my body was heading over to the cliff behind us. Mr. Magician turned around and looked at me.
“Dang!”
So, I got thrown over from the cliff and I was falling down to the river below. Time seemed to halt when I was falling through the cliff wall. Then, I heard a voice.
“AOI…”
A man had gripped my body in the mid-air and he pulled my arms around his neck. Then, he started running upwards on the cliff wall vertically. Once he reached the top of the cliff, then he put me down on the ground.
I looked at him and instantly called him.
“DAD!”
My father looked at me while he was patting me on the head.
“It is okay now. Aoi.”
“Why are you here?”
“To bring you home.”
“Where is mom?”
“Oh, she is in the airport.”
“Dad, did you have a little sister?”
“Oh, Umm… Haha… About that part…”
Mr. Magician was clapping his hands in joy.
“What a moving story! Finally, the family reunited… In the middle of the crisis, the father saved his little daughter… Wow… This should be the best-selling novel…”
My father turned around and stared at Mr. Magician.
“Enough. You jerk!”
“Dr. Hamasaki, chill down a little bit. Hehe… Or should I address you by your alias – Mr. Hermit!”
“I don’t use that name anymore.”
A question suddenly popped inside my head.
“Dad!”
“What’s up, Aoi?”
“You are Mr. Hermit?”
“Ah… Umm… I was Mr. Hermit. But that was a long, long time ago.”
“Are you sure? The Mr. Hermit who I knew didn't look like you though.”
My father was pondering a minute. Then, he looked into my eyes and asked.
“Aoi, are you talking about an old man in his forty who dressed up elegantly with a tailored dark red suit?”
“Oh, Dad… Yes, yes, is him. I met him at the abandoned bus stop, while he said he was lost in direction.”
“Argh! That stupid idiot again! Keep using my alias and messing up with my family life.”
“You know him?”
“Ugh… Umm…”
Meanwhile, Mr. Magician didn’t waste any time. He already rapidly casted several fireballs and lightning bolts towards us. However, all of them suddenly disappeared when they almost reached us.
“Wow, you are still sharp. Mr. Hermit.”
“I take that as a compliment. By the way, I must let you know… there’s no way you can win.”
“But not until now. Hehe…”
Mr. Magician took a step to his right. Then, a spear suddenly appeared and it was heading towards my father’s upper body. Meanwhile, my father deflected that spear and it got redirected into the boulder over our left side.
My father took a quick look at that spear.
“Spear of Destiny… Mr. Hierophant…”
My father suddenly picked me up and started running to the right into the bushes. Mr. Hierophant arrived at the scene while Mr. Magician was laughing at my father.
“Haha… you are dead now… gunslinger.”

We were on the run in the wilderness for several hours. It seemed Mr. Hierophant and Mr. Magician had not caught up with us yet. Therefore, we took a rest near the highway which led to the airport.
“Dad, where are we going?”
“We are going to the airport and join with your Mom.”
“But Dad, I need to find its entrance.”
“Umm… Do you know what would happen if you found its entrance and got that ‘Device’ out from there?”
“I only know that ‘Device’ is in there. Although, every country wants that ‘Device’ for themselves. But if we find that ‘Device’ then we could hand it over to the World Federation and let them decide how to use its power for the sake of mankind.”
“Aoi, indeed that’s a good virtue. But in reality, it isn't that simple after all.”
“Huh? Why, Dad?”
“Human society is based on mutual benefit. And that’s why humans invented their own currency. So, let’s say if a person made a profit then sometimes, somehow, and somewhere another person would have had to pay for that as his/her expense. Afterwards, this process became a cycle. The currency should be always in balance. No matter if it is a community, a town, a city, a state, a country, a continent or even a world. If everyone could follow this simple rule, then no one should be suffering. Unfortunately, in this world not everything is fair or even balanced. Someone, somehow, and somewhere there is always an imbalance. In order to make it so-called ‘fair’, the rich tended to help those less fortunate by using an ‘unfair’ solution – if you have extra, then you give. Suppose the riches will give to the less fortunate, but only under one condition if the riches got extra, spare, excess, etc. But in order to make more extra, spare, excess, etc. the riches need to make more profit. Since there is already an imbalance in the give and take process. Therefore, there is no mutual benefit in between the riches and the less fortunate. If the social polarization becomes worse throughout the years, then it will reach its boiling point. When death, famine, war and conquest will simply occur afterwards.”
“Ugh… Umm…”
“That’s mean if you hand over that ‘Device’ to the World Federation. Only the strong wealthiest countries would have the benefit out of that. Nowadays, world domination isn’t simply being ‘I came, I saw, I conquered’ or even ‘Divide and Conquer’. It is a Global Financial War.”
“But…”
“Aoi, if you found its entrance. Every country in this world definitely wants a piece of that. Even now, there is a turmoil going on within the city.”
“But you and Mom have been researching that in the university for several years now.”
“Aoi, your Mom and I knew that there would be a consequence if we discovered City of Light. That’s why we are holding back our research for the university. But it seems someone cannot wait anymore and they have been working behind the scenes in preparation for this turmoil in order to get things done right away.”
“You mean Killer Incorporation? But are you part of it?”
“Aoi, I was Mr. Hermit. One of the core members of Killer Incorporation. Throughout history, Killer Incorporation was the Keeper of this world. We were supposed to balance things out. However, the original Killer Incorporation had been disbanded by that stupid idiot a long time ago. And all of the core members had left the organization or got exiled by that stupid idiot.”
“Disbanded? And who was that stupid idiot?”
“Yes. It was disbanded because there was an internal conflict. In order to solve it, that stupid idiot took the worst approach. And that stupid idiot was that guy who said he was Mr. Hermit…”
“Oh, so he is the so-called ‘our master’ which everyone had mentioned before?”
“Argh… Kind of… Umm… Now, you know you are part of Ancients… That’s why I tell you all of the above. However, I don’t want you to get involved in it anymore. You better leave it to the adult and we will handle it from now on.”
“But Dad…”
“No more! I will bring you to your Mom first, because she has been worrying about you since day one.”
“Oh, I see… And about Number Four…”
“Yes, she was my little sister. That means she is your aunt.”
“I wonder how she is now?”
“Ah… Umm… Don’t worry… She’ll be fine… Let’s go now.”
“Okay, Dad.”
Once we had reached the highway, my father was looking for an abundant car. Although, there were a lot of those. But most of them were broken down or out of gas. A while later, there was a helicopter hovering in the air near us. He took a closer look at it and found out that it was from the military’s rescue team. So, he waved at the helicopter and then he turned around.
“Aoi, we go onto that helicopter. It should bring us to the airport.”
“Okay, Dad.”
Meanwhile, the rescue helicopter had lowered its rescue rope. Hence, my father gripped the rope and I was secured onto it. Then, it was gently ascending towards the rescue helicopter. Once we were inside the fuselage. Those rescuers had asked my father.
“Are there any other survivors?”
“Just my daughter and I.”
The rescue helicopter was leaving the scene when all of a sudden, the pilots screamed.
“Incoming homing missiles!”
My father responded immediately.
“How many?”
“Four!”
“Take care of my daughter and bring her to safety.”
“Sir?!”
My father looked at me and said,
“Aoi, be strong. I will join you and your Mom shortly.”
“Dad?”
My father jumped out from the fuselage with a smile on his face.
“Aoi… Happy Birthday!”

When Mr. Hermit was out of the fuselage, he casted a flying spell. He was floating in the mid-air at once. After he had spotted those four missiles, he took out his dual-wield pitch-black single-action revolvers.
“Huginn and Muninn! It’s show time!”
Once Mr. Hermit pulled the triggers, those four missiles had been destroyed instantly. Meanwhile, there were three ladies staring at him from the ground. Once those ladies noticed that it was him who destroyed all of the four homing missiles. Two of the ladies had decided to fly up there and had a look.
“Ms. Moon, look! Sonic Bullets!”
“Ms. Star, for sure is him.”
Once Mr. Hermit had realized that they were Ms. Moon and Ms. Star. He immediately flew into the canyon which was at his north. Nevertheless, both of them were pursuing him from behind.
“Ms. Moon, he is flying into the canyon.”
“Tricky bastard.”
“Let’s get him.”
“Ms. Star, I will contact Ms. Sun and ask for her to be our backup.”
Ms. Star nodded in agreement.
The dogfight at the basin of the canyon had kept on going for several minutes. However, Mr. Hermit had put several rounds of Sonic Bullets onto both of the ladies. But it seemed those bullets were blocked by some sort of magic shield.
During the dogfight, both sides had tried to take down each other by their strongest magic spells. But it turned out, unsuccessfully.
“Tch… Battle Mages… Oh well, then let’s try my secret weapons… Geri and Freki, auto turret mode!”
Two lever-action repeating silver rifles had appeared and were floating beside Mr. Hermit. Once they changed into auto turret mode. They started targeting and firing at Ms. Star and Ms. Moon automatically.
“Ugh… Magic shield…cannot hold it any longer…”
“Ah… Mine… broke down… I got hit.”
Both of them instantly got shot down to the ground. Afterwards, Mr. Hermit flew down to the ground and started talking to them.
“You ladies never change a bit.”
Both of them were laying on the ground and it seemed they were badly injured.
“Ugh… My arms really hurt.”
“Me too… My legs cannot move at all.”
Mr. Hermit was tapping on Geri and Freki.
“They are electromagnetic railguns. The best anti-mage weapon. Hehe… By the way, where is the youngest sister?”
Mr. Hermit turned around and saw Ms. Sun.
“Mr. Hermit, nice to meet you.”
“I know you should be around somewhere. So, let’s end this now.”
Meanwhile, Huginn, Muninn, Geri and Freki were pointed at Ms. Sun.
“Maybe my sisters are no match with you. However, don’t underestimate my power.”
“Sorry, I didn't and that’s why it ends now.”
Huginn, Muninn, Geri and Freki were firing at their maximum powers for a while. However, Ms. Sun was still standing there without a scratch. Mr. Hermit had realized that and said.
“So, all of my shots got bent.”
“You are right, Mr. Hermit.”
“Haha… I guess you used its power.”
“Yes. My Kepler's Sphere.”
“Sigh… Now what?”
“Huh? I think it is time for you to die.”
“Haha… Don’t you realize?”
“Like what?”
“Haha… Killer Incorporation definitely has lowered the bar for its internship program.”
“Three of us are not interns inside Killer Incorporation. We are the top agents of its Crazy Seventy-Eight.”
“Haha… Sure, and that’s the reason… Just hired all the crazy people…”
“Hey, you… I will kill... Wait? What the heck? I cannot move!”
“Ms. Sun, I think I had really underestimated you… Intelligence quotient level. It seems yours is only at Seventy-Eight… Haha…”
“You bastard. What have you done with me?”
“I think it is the other way around... What have you done with me? Haha…”
“Ugh, you pervert… Umm… Tell me…Now!”
