Silence

After the dark beast vanished, silence enveloped the laboratory. The air carried the lingering scent of burnt flesh and the smell of blood. The contrast seemed to blur the line between reality and unreality. The Guildmaster slowly sheathed his sword, still looking as if he couldn't believe what had happened. The mage clutched his staff in a daze, while the historian held an ancient scroll to his chest.

“...Unbelievable...” the Guildmaster murmured. His voice carried both shock and exhaustion. “That... monster... what on earth was it?”

I closed the Infinite Book and rose slowly. A slight ache in my waist faded quickly. The power of immortality rarely suffers serious damage, only occasionally signaling minor discomfort.

“It must be connected to ancient civilizations...” I replied. After the dark beast vanished, an eerie silence returned to the lab, but it felt like the calm before a storm, stirring unease.

“That... equation...” the wizard said in a trembling voice. “The one you murmured... did that equation calm it...?”

“Yes,” I nodded. “The Dark Beast's movements followed a pattern. It matched the equations recorded in the Infinite Book with astonishing precision. It was as if... the laws of the universe were expressed as music.”

“The laws... of the universe...?” The historian's eyes widened. “That... can't be...”

“It's entirely possible.” I opened the Infinite Book, revealing part of the formula. “This formula isn't just a string of symbols. It's a kind of... musical score that resonates with the energy of the universe.”

“A musical score...?” The Guildmaster tilted his head. “Surely that monster wouldn't react to music...”

“Yes. Strange, but true. That dark beast might not have been attacking us, but searching for something. And my singing voice... that is, playing the laws of the universe... perhaps it satisfied that need... or conversely, perhaps it didn't.”

I closed the Infinite Book once more and fell into quiet thought. The true nature of the dark beast, and the real meaning of the equations written within the Infinite Book. The mysteries only deepened. Yet, at the same time, I sensed new possibilities. By understanding the laws of the universe, I might be able to change the future of this world. Or perhaps even change the universe itself. My heart raced at that possibility.

“Well...” I said quietly. “Let's move on to the next step.”
