Slowly making my way along the cobblestone path, the library came into view. The heavy wooden door bore an aged patina, as if it had weathered centuries of wind and rain. Beside the door was a small window, offering a glimpse into the dim interior. I could sense the dusty air lingering within. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door. A quiet, steady knock echoed. After a moment, a low voice came from inside. “...Who is it?” “My name is Mitsuru Mitam. I wish to speak with the Librarian,” I replied politely. A faint rustling came from behind the door, then it slowly opened. As expected, an elderly wizard with snow-white hair appeared. His sharp gaze fixed on me. He stood tall, his bearing full of dignity, and said. “Mitama Mitam... I see. I've heard rumors. An immortal adventurer, they say.”
“I'm not quite as remarkable as the rumors suggest,” I replied with a light laugh. “I'm simply interested in ancient magical civilizations...”
“Ancient magical civilizations...?” The old wizard spoke, touching his chin as if interrupting my words. "Then I suppose I could show you the forbidden books. But that knowledge is not something to be handled lightly. Can you bear the responsibility?“ His words carried weight. He was saying this wasn't something to peek into out of mere curiosity. I quietly fixed my gaze on his eyes. ”Of course I can bear the responsibility. I will understand that knowledge correctly and use it appropriately," I replied with a serious expression. The old wizard stared at my face for a while. Eventually, his lips moved slightly. “...Very well. Follow me.” He vanished through the door. I followed him. The interior of the library was more vast than I had imagined, with countless bookshelves stretching out like a maze. The distinctive, musty scent of old paper filled my nostrils.
