File2. Is Whole Human Life “Virtual Reality”?
Another very important phrase of HANNYA SHINGYO is “No Eye, No Ear, No Nose, No Tongue, No Body, No Consciousness”. That means all human five senses and consciousness are not real and just the result of physical or chemical reaction.
Let us confirm this in case of “Seeing”. We should go through total five steps for actuary seeing something. HANNYA SHINGYO tells us such steps as “Five UNNs, phases”
1.Reflection of light, bunch of photons should be reflected from things to eyes
2.Receiving photon’s stimulation at retinas in eyes and change it electrical signals
3.Synthesizing such electrical signals into the Image at the visual cortex in the brain
4.Acting and questioning what the Image is
5.Recognizing the Image as something
HANNYA SHINGYO says if only one of such Five UNNs is missing, we will lose the eyesight. It is much easier to understand if we imagine watching Horror Video. We can escape from the distress of Horror if we cut off one of Five UNNs as follows;
1.Switch off the Video, erase the first step of stimulation
2.Close eyelids not to watch Video, avoid receiving the stimulation
3.Cut off Optic Nerve or flow of electrical signals
4.Do not act or question what is the Image, for example not to think red liquid is blood
5.Concentrate other things and do not recognize the Image
Let us show another example, very easy experiment. Close your eyes and put both hands on the table. If I touch a pen on your left hand and if you feel a pen touching, raise your hand. While repeating this experiment, I prick a needle on your right hand and simultaneously touch a pen on your left hand. What will happen? Probably you will feel pain in your right hand and shout “ouch”, but never notice a pen touching your left hand. This experiment shows that human sense is only a kind of illusion arisen by stimulation. Bigger stimulation would erase smaller one.
As the result, Buddha had reached the conclusion that all human senses are a kind of Virtual Reality caused by physical stimulations and can be erased by shutting down the interface between outside stimulations and human body through efforts. There is one famous proverb. “If I completely extinguish my heart and sense, I feel even fire is cool.”
This idea of “Nothing” has very important meaning in the super modern physics theory namely “Holography Universe” which is very strange and unique.
