Something different happens.
Something dark flickered inside deep in his eyes.
Sota tried to fight back. He swung his bag at Tanaka.
Tanaka caught it easily. He slammed Sota to the floor.
Pain exploded across Sota’s back and arms. He gritted his teeth. He wanted to fight. He wanted to strike.
The others laughed. Ryota kicked him. Daichi shoved him. Kenji slapped him. Takeshi grabbed his hair. Haru pushed him to the ground.
“Pathetic,” Tanaka said. “You are useless.”
Sota’s hands dug into the floor. His anger burned inside. He had to do something. He could not let this continue.
Suddenly, the ground beneath them glowed.
A circle of light appeared. Strange runes shone on the floor. The air vibrated. The light spread fast.
“What is this?” Ryota shouted.
Before anyone could move, the circle erupted. A bright light covered the classroom. Sota felt his body lift. Pain vanished. Bruises healed. Fatigue disappeared.
The others were silent. Their injuries healed too. Their eyes were wide.
The classroom vanished. The desks, the chairs, the walls disappeared.
Sota fell onto soft grass. He looked up. The sky was bright. It was unlike anything he had seen.
The others were there too. They looked shocked. Their mouths opened, but no words came out.
Sota’s chest tightened. He felt power. Not strength from fighting. Not skill from training. Something else. Something impossible.
He was alive. Whole. The pain was gone.
Tanaka stared at him. Ryota, Daichi, Kenji, Takeshi, and Haru stared too.
Sota’s eyes darkened slightly. Fear was gone. Anger remained. But now it was different.
This was a new world.
A new chance.
Something had begun.
Sota Kobayashi was no longer a weak boy but yet he was.
Sota will change, either today or tommorow.
