Morning sunlight spread across the quiet streets as Sota Kobayashi walked toward his school. The air was cool and calm, and students slowly gathered near the gate. Sota carried his bag on one shoulder and wore his usual gentle smile.
"Good morning, Kobayashi," the old school guard said.
"Good morning," Sota replied politely.
He bowed slightly as he walked past. Teachers and students knew him as a quiet and helpful boy. Some even thought he was kind.
Sota reached the hallway and greeted a few teachers.
"Good morning, Kobayashi. You are early again," a teacher said.
"I like arriving early," Sota replied with a small laugh.
His smile looked natural. Warm. Friendly.
But the moment he slid open the classroom door, everything disappeared.
The smile faded.
The warmth in his eyes vanished.
His face returned to an empty and tired expression.
Sota quietly walked to his seat near the back of the classroom and sat down without a word.
A few students immediately noticed him.
Tanaka Honju, a tall boy with sharp eyes, smirked as he approached.
"Hey Kobayashi."
Sota looked up slightly.
Tanaka dropped a notebook on his desk.
"Finish this for me."
Another student came over.
His name was Ryota Sakuma.
He placed two thick notebooks on the desk.
"And mine."
Soon more followed.
Daichi Morimoto.
Kenji Arai.
Takeshi Fujimoto.
And Haru Shimizu.
Each one dropped their work on Sota's desk as if it was completely normal.
"Make sure it's neat."
"Teacher will check today."
"Don't mess it up."
The pile grew larger and larger.
Sota simply nodded.
"Okay."
His voice was quiet and emotionless.
The classroom slowly filled with laughter and conversation while Sota lowered his head and began writing.
Page after page.
Line after line.
Like always.
No one thanked him.
No one cared.
For them, this was normal.
For Sota, this was just another day.
The classroom is not always a place for learning. For Sota, it becomes a quiet prison where kindness turns into exploitation.
