レッスン回数9回目
オンライン英会話、つい最近受講200回を超えました。
しかし、連載は半年以上放置。大変申し訳ないです。
ちなみに小咄の内容は実話です(;^ω^)
I live with my elderly mother and a cat. My mother loves the cat very much. She often says so.
“He is my life. I’ll do anything to protect him.”
I thought it was great, because I love him, too. But I was worried about one thing. I was deeply concerned about it.
One day, I dared to ask my mother. “I have a question. Let’s say my life and his life were in danger. You have to choose him or me. Which would you choose, me or him?”
She said with a smile, “I’m proud of you. You are independent and very strong. You don’t need my help anymore. But he is different. I choose to help him.”
I was terribly depressed because my suspicion was right. But, she said, still smiling, “I want to ask you a question, too. What about you? Would you choose, me or him?”
I fully understood her feelings. "Oh, you were right. I choose to save him too.” I apologized to her. In the end, my mother and I made up.
私は年配の母親と猫と一緒に暮らしています。 母は猫が大好きです。 彼女は言います。
「彼は私の人生です。 彼を守るためなら何でもします。」
私も彼を愛しているので、素晴らしいと思いました。 しかし、私はひとつ心配がありました。それはとても心配な事でした。
ある日、思い切って母に聞いてみました。 「質問があります。 私と彼が死にかけようとしています。。 あなたは彼か私を選ばなければなりません。 私と彼のどちらを助けることを選びますか？」
彼女は笑顔で言ました。
「私はあなたを誇りに思っています。 あなたは独立していてとても強いです。 もう私の助けは必要ありません。 しかし、彼は違います。 私は彼を助けることを選びます。」
私の疑いが正しかったので、私はひどく落ち込んでいました。 しかし、彼女は笑顔のまま言いました。
「私もあなたに質問したいです。 あなたはどうですか？ 私と彼のどちらを選びますか？」
私は彼女の気持ちを完全に理解した。
「ああ、あなたは正しい。私も彼を救うことを選びます」
私は彼女に謝罪しました。そして、母と私は仲直りしました。
