English version
GINHAISO―Silver Ash Mouse
(in the style of W.B. Yeats)
A gray no tongue has ever named
Falls like mist upon the eyes.
Yet let the heart grow soft, and it
Turns blue with wave and green with skies.
It burns as red where passions thread,
Or dims to violet’s distant hue.
Whether love be nigh or fled,
A crooked scale swings, tried and true,
In winds that weave the mystic thread,
With marvels and what won't obey.
And should the soul from slumber break,
What gray shall greet the waking day?
Some hue no dream nor eye could fake—
The ash of all we lost in play.
