An Awkward Conversation That Wasn't Actually Awkward at All
“Yeah! I’d love that.”
Yuki was able to tell what Mary’s answer was from the sigh of relief that Rika made.
“Awesome.”
“I- is she a good match for me you think?”
Rika blushed.
“I- I mean if that isn’t too weird for us to talk about... or something like that.”
Rika shook her head, remembering what Yuki and Kiko had said.
“No, not at all. She’s very cute and kind, you two are definitely a good match.”
There was a pause. Mary was silently dancing around with excitement. She then realized they were still on the phone.
“Awesome! I’ll see you all then. And...”
Rika listened intently.
“... thank you. For inviting me and stuff.”
“It’s totally ok.”
She was about to end the call when Mary continued her thought.
“For introducing me to someone also, it... it makes me really happy... Ah! This is so embarrassing I sound so hopeless!”
Rika smiled, Mary was the same as she’d always been.
“It’s fine, I’m happy to introduce you.”
“I need to pick out something to wear, I’ve never been to a dinner party like this.”
“I’m pretty confident you’ll have something that’ll work, being a rock star and all.”
Mary laughed.
“Right...”
“And, also being a rock star you’re really interesting and quite the catch. So, don’t worry about it too much. She’s also looking forward to meeting you, from what Yuki and Kiko have told me.”
Mary blushed.
“That’s really flattering. Well, I’ll let you go, see you all then!”
“Bye Mary.”
Rika locked her phone and put it in her pocket. She noticed that Yuki was smiling and resting her chin on her hands.
“What’s up?”
“That was really good.”
Rika blushed.
“I think it went well.”
“Was she nervous?”
“I think so, it’s sort of strange considering it’s her.”
Yuki looked at her sideways.
“I think everyone gets nervous with stuff like this.”
Rika smiled, she thought about the day they’d met.
“That’s very true.”
