More Than a Song  作者: しゃーねす

Good Luck to Me

Yuki was laying in bed staring at the ceiling. It had been four hours since she got home, changed, and went to bed.

/I can’t sleep./

Memories of that night played over and over in her head. Analyzing every moment.

/When did I get so.../

In her memories she could hardly recognize herself. She’d become a different person, much more confident.

/It’s almost embarrassing./

Her cheeks turned red.

/I just... kissed her./

That scene played out more than all the others. She’d read the moment perfectly, and said and did what she felt. For once in a long time.

Yuki touched her lips with her finger tips.

Three times she felt their souls connect, more than words ever could. Their hearts had silently spoken to one another, and lit a fire that wouldn’t go out.

/She looked so beautiful./

That was what had sparked Yuki, Rika only concerned about her age, not recognizing her own beauty and Yuki’s feelings for her.

‘I’ve made my decision.’

‘And so have I.’

Yuki hugged a plushie close and turned to her side.

Moonlight poured in through her balcony door. It now had a different meaning to her than the night before.

She hugged the plushie tighter and screamed into it.

/It feels good./

She rolled back and forth. Someone liked her, maybe even loved her. She stopped and stared at the ceiling again.

/Is this...”/

There had once been a song she had heard, that asked the question she thought then.

In every girl’s manga she had read flowers and butterflies appeared everywhere. For her none had, but a lightness in her chest and mind made it feel as if there should be.

/I think it is./

She at least felt the way she did. Through that moment they shared last night, she learned everything she had been wondering. The only issue was putting a name to it.

/When does like change to love? When can I say it?”/

Another thing she had read in romance manga was the problem with calling it love too soon. There was a possibility that it was too soon, and they hadn’t actually decided on a “pace”. Well, she had left it up to Rika.

/I’ve made my decision./

That had been her decision, she wanted to be a couple and fell in love since they first met. She could only wait till Rika knew.

Rika was looking at the ceiling. She had been blushing since their moment in the park.

/I’m such a school girl./

Yuki had been right, she had a complex about her age and thought there was a good chance Yuki would move on because.

“Why am I like this.”

Yuki had been so clear in the way she told her she liked her, and she liked Yuki. More than she had ever remembered liking someone else.

/And. And the... How is she so good at it?/

Rika touched her fingers to her lips.

/That only happens in manga and novels./

Rika hugged her favorite pillow, and sat up cross legged on her bed.

“I feel like I should message her... Thank her for the evening.”

Rika picked up the phone and it illuminated.

“4 o’clock?!”

/She’s asleep, but how has it been that long? I don’t feel tired at all./

Rika hadn’t felt tired at all since then. He whole body was fluttering like she would burst into a thousand butterflies. It was a wonder she didn’t see flowers all around her.

‘I’ve made my decision.’

“I’ve made mine too.”

/I completely fell for her right away./

Rika put her phone down and looked out her window at the moonlit Sakura.

/I think I’ve been playing the role of a mature adult so long, I forgot to actually grow up./

“I feel like such a kid.”

She thought back to how Yuki said she was more like her true self when she was just her without knowing why.

/I feel the same./

Rika smiled as she hugged her pillow tightly.

/It feels nice. Someone I can be myself with./

“I l...”

“Oh jeez! I forgot to say I love you!”

Rika buried her face in her pillow.

“Whyyyyy.”

She looked across the room resting her chin on the pillow.

“I mean, I basically did. I know she loves me.”

‘The pace is up to you.’

“Is it to early to say it? I never actually have to anybody.”

/I guess it is a big deal./

Rika fell to her side.

/It’s only been three days./

“I’ll know when the time is right. And, I can’t let her do all the work either. I need to grow up a little.”

She looked at the clock on the wall.

“Work tomorrow is going to be awful.”

She closed her eyes.

“Good luck to me.”
