Learning about Hinamatsuri
Kitsune San: Good morning Tanu Chan! Today we will learn about a very important Japanese festival called Hinamatsuri. Have you heard of it before?
Tanu Chan: Good morning Kitsune San! No, I haven't heard of it. What is Hinamatsuri?
Kitsune San: Hinamatsuri, also known as Doll's Day or Girl's Day, is a festival celebrated on March 3rd in Japan. It is a day to pray for the happiness and health of young girls. Families set up a display of dolls called hinaningyo, representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians, and decorate their homes with peach blossoms.
Tanu Chan: That sounds very interesting. Can we celebrate Hinamatsuri in our classroom?
Kitsune San: Of course, Tanu Chan! We have a small set of hinaningyo that we can use to create our display. We will also make some origami decorations and learn how to make Hina-arare, a traditional sweet snack eaten during Hinamatsuri.
Tanu Chan: Wow! I love sweet snacks. What is Hina-arare made of?
Kitsune San: Hina-arare is made of glutinous rice and flavored with soy sauce. It is then coated with sugar to make it sweet and crunchy. Would you like to try making it?
Tanu Chan: Yes, please! Can we make it now?
Kitsune San: Of course! First, we need to cook the glutinous rice and then mix it with soy sauce. After that, we shape it into small bite-sized pieces and coat them with sugar. Here, try one.
Tanu Chan: Mmm, it's delicious! Thank you, Kitsune San.
Kitsune San: You're welcome, Tanu Chan. I'm glad you like it. Hinamatsuri is a special day for young girls in Japan, and it's important to learn about different cultures and traditions.
Tanu Chan: Yes, I agree. I can't wait to celebrate Hinamatsuri with my family and share with them what I learned today.

Tanu Chan:
Kitsune San:
Tanu Chan:
Kitsune San:
Tanu Chan:
Kitsune San:
Tanu Chan:
Kitsune San:
Tanu Chan:
Kitsune San:
Tanu Chan:
