Last day
Emotions, smiles, laughter, relations and everything fall apart in a moment in which nobody expects because the only truth that thrives is death. True, raw, unescapable, unavoidable, a reality so harsh that puts a full stop to stories, but after each full stop what begins is a new sentence, a new story, a new life because some endings are just the beginning of something we don't decide by will.
Note: The story does not share the glimpse of anyone on specific, it's just a creation that rose in the author's unstill mind and has no connection with anyone's life or story. If similarities are found somehow, I'm glad to say that you belong to a different universe
The sun was tired enough and was already setting, the last of its rays of which some were struck by the clouds roaming in the sky and some survived and reached the ocean shore and the sand and two faces that glared at the heartwarming scene being created in front of them, eyes filled with shades of orange and yellow and blue. A thing with boys that make them different from girls is that, they an actually sit with their heads empty, no thoughts, no words, just emptiness, even though if its somehow occupied it's some trash thought that may be like, "That advertisement that i saw last night was quite funny, well(sighs like he attained maturity), guess i'll see it again, I wish I'll." Random thoughts with no sense spoken with great sense and essence of wisdom, is what boys are sometimes or i should say often.
Coming back to the two empty minds who sat there at the beach with nothing work to do at that very moment and were ideal bodies on which a physics can be framed, looked at the sunset, when one of them named 'Aarav' who was a bit short then his friend who was seated next to whom(like a few inches) spoke with utmost concentration and deepness, "You know what brother, life felt quite easy and solved when we spent evenings as hunter gatherers, finding food to fill our bellies up, I dated my Naina and you dated your Radha, and we enjoyed chatting on our group chats, roasting and frying each other." "Hmmm, true.", Vyom answered, and once again there was utter silence between them and of course the empty minds.
Aarav started once again, "Isn't this is a day that feels quite long, fulfiling, tempting, calming......." "Unending, that feels like it's asking to stop." Vyom completed the sentence. Meanwhile a sound wave stroke their ears that felt nostalgic, a Helicopter. They both looked up at the sound of it, and when their eyes caught the site of it, in a sync of emotions they both uttered, "Hell yeah!!"
"I wish Naina was here with me, i'm missing her." Aarav went gloomy on his statement remembering those days of happiness and love and joy that haven't really occured but maybe in future, someday or the another, who knows? On the other hand Vyom started uttering, "Missing my Radha as well." With this no tide came to touch the feet of the two dumbass creatures but a wave of sadness truly washed over their minds making the environment that pleased them a few moments ago dull and sad.
In that situation when they both were drowning in the dark sea of blues, emerging as the harbingers of joy and energy came a pair of slippers from the back that successfully reached their desired target that was the head of the two boys.
Being brought back in the real world, firstly the two were amazed but then they realized that they were attacked from the back and this fact enraged them as they stood shouting, "Cowards!! who the hell.............?" But as they turned to find the culprit for the forbidden act they faced two a bit short in height but adorable creatures that looked none other than their Naina and Radha staring right in the eyes.
Before being happy at the sight of them, the first that came in the minds of Aarav and Vyom was that they were saved because they didn't completed the sentences they left incomplete when they stood up furiously, quite lucky for them!! "You two chuckleheads, what do you mean by 'missing us'? We are breathing and walking behind you and you both were just sitting and spitting words senselessly??" Naina with his shrill high pitched voice came shouting meanwhile Radha stood there judging the empty headed boys and waiting for an answer to come.
"We were not really discussing that!" Aarav claimed tryin not to offend Naina. "Is that so? Then what were you two discussing about us?" Radha joined the debate expecting an answer from Vyom. "Nothing great, just talking about how cats evolve into mind eating beasts." Vyom answered
As this validation was heard there was a moment of peace followed by a chaos that made Aarav and Vyom run for their lives while the beasts chased them in full strength. They later stopped at a point and everything felt good when the pair of couples laughed and walked back happily to the car they used for the trip .Vyom had a relationship with his beloved girl Radha when they first met in their colleges and eventually their bestfriends Aarav and Naina got to know each other after a while.
For Aarav, it has been six months when he first met Naina, and today is the day he has chosen to propose Naina, '8th of February', It had been planned by Aarav, Vyom and Radha that today after a trip to the beach they will surprise Naina secretly by a dinner party. All four were happy, enjoying the ongoing moments dripping with joy, flavoured by smiles and loads of laughs. They reached to the car when Radha asked for something to drink. Following her words Aarav and Vyom went to a stall to fetch a bottle of drinking water.
"You Dwarf, if your plan fails today, I'll take revenge for the late night meetings you hosted, spoiled my sleep that felt so sweet." Vyom threatened because he knew that if in the worst case Naina rejects Aarav will be calling him late at night explaining him the hardships of his life and the one sided game destiny played with him, the thought scared him. Aarav assured him that Naina will surely accept his proposal and that he'll not mix salt in Vyom's sweet sleep. They reached the car in which the girls had already seated themselves. Radha beside the driver's seat that was Vyom, and Naina at the back seat and Aarav was supposed to be seated beside her.
Nervousness had his effects on Aarav but thrill and excitement made his legs move and mind work accordingly. On their way to the restaurant where they had arranged their secret event it was a sort of long drive. They all went chatting and living the time that felt so nice that no one wanted it to end. "Hey see, my mother's calling. Need to pick it up, Vyom can you just stop the car for a while." Naina asked as her phone kept ringing.
There was still so much time, nothing to hurry, nothing to rush for, cool breeze and the moon's light that shined. Naina stood at the other lane talking to her mother walking here and there casually while the oter three were there in the car. "You sure it's a good place?" Aarav inquired. "Yes it is, Radha told me that Nain a liked hill side views and all and also that she always wanted to visit this area." Vyom answered. Aarav was nervous, the weather was cool but he was all sweaty. It was a hill side area, beside them at the roads edge was a cliff that wasn't that deep but still dangerous and scary. "Don't you worry, this is gonna be fun, and trust me she'll like it!" Assuring himself by the words of assurance that Aarav heard, he looked outside the car to see the girl whom he liked in a white frock suit that shined when the moonlight touched it and the wind played with it and the view of this calmed him.
Being fascinated and being out of control, he decide to admire Nina from a close distance and came out. Now the two who stayed in the car were Radha and Vyom, two hearts and their beats audible, eyes in which the reflections were clear. The two seated in silence but it felt like an uncountable no. of words were said and heard between them. In his hands rested her palms, eyes locked on each others faces and a smile that brought warmth in the cool breeze that flew by.
Aarav seated outside on the rear of the car having not that great courage to shorten the distance waited for the call that was taking a bit more time than expected to end. he then stood to take a look down the cliff admiring the view and keeping himself calm. Meanwhile the couple inside the car were talking to each other,
"When will we marry?" Radha asked. "Soon enough", Vyom answered. ";Do you think of marrying someone else?", She asked with a cute face and eyes that demanded an answer. "None other than the one in front of me.", Vyom answered and she smiled. "Promise me, if not me then no one else." She fighting her deepest fears down in her heart asked. Vyom gripped her hand firmly and answered, "If not you then no one, in every life, in every form, I'm only yours, I promise.", Getting the answer what her heart wanted by Vyom, Radha smiled and so did he. But then, Vyom noticed the white beam of light that fell on their faces and before he could even notice, there was a truck that was a few moments away from their car and when the moments passed, ........ things changed.
For a while everything felt like worlds have came crashing on them, what all he can understand was that everything rolled, all hazy with pieces of glass scattered in the air, some of which came for his face, and in that haze what he could only see Radha's face of which half was covered in blood, the eyes that were closing and the smile from that moment that didn't even had properly faded as the car went straight downwards in the cliff and then strucked the ground with every thing felling apart, scattering in all directions. In his last few moments of life what he saw was his life, the girl he promised he'll never leave, left the world before he could and that was the last reflection his brain pictured as his body slept for eternity but not his soul.
What belonged to the owner returned back to the owner, but what is free is what never stops and embarks on a new journey that calls upon because life never ends it just rests and then rises again, somewhere, in some form, in some way, it has always moved and will always do.
