The Ultimate Test of Strength
Rain started to fall in June, somewhat relaxing to the red haired woman behind the glass, but also dismaying. It meant she wouldn't be able to fight anyone today. Frederika sighed as she pressed a hand against the window overlooking the street below her apartment. "Nothing exciting ever happens around here," she mumbled to herself. "At this rate I might need to make some trouble myself."
She seriously comtemplated the thought. On a normal day, it wasn't uncommon for her to rob a bank just for kicks, and her roommate was out for the day. Indeed it was a good time to start trouble if it weren't for the rain. She would consider it given a good enough exc-
Two loud knocks interrupted her thoughts, and Frederika quickly answered the door. It was a woman almost as tall as herself, with a surprisingly similar glare in her eyes. Frederika took note of the fact that they were red, definitely unusual for a normal human. "Is there something you need?" She asked, her interest piqued by this development.
"Only what you need," the woman replied. Though she didn't say much, her voice carried an amused tone, layered with an almost seductive one. "I'm bored, so I need something to do. I thought you might be able to help with that... Frederika."
Instinctively, Frederika backed away from her. "Have we met?"
The woman in turn stepped closer. "You wouldn't remember it. My name is Zero."
Frederika furrowed her eyebrows. "That's not a very interesting name. It kinda lacks character if you ask me."
Her lips curled up into an amused smile. "You know, that's the same thing you said the last time we met. I'm pretty sure you commented about my strange hat soon after that too."
Come to think of it, she was drawn to the small hat atop her head, almost akin to a beret. It wasn't anything she had seen before, that's for sure, not even in her own time period. "Alright, cut the crap," Frederika said suddenly. "I can tell that something is definitely off about you, now what is it?"
Zero didn't answer immediately, but instead pushed her way into the apartment. Once she had seated herself comfortably on the couch, she continued. "You could say I am a bored diety of sorts. All the time in the world, but nothing to do with it. I know you are the same way in some respects, Dragon, being more powerful than anyone around you. You like a challenge, and I can give it to you." A devious look was in her eyes, and Frederika knew that there was definitely trouble coming. "I want you to be my entertainment for a while."
"What kind of entertainment? I don't do tricks, Honey."
Even with Frederika's piercing glare, Zero's smile didn't go away. "I want you to be my gladiator. Fight the strongest opponents that I can throw at you."
Fight the strongest huh? Frederika thought it over carefully, though she knew what her answer would be. The opportunity to test her strength would be great, and certainly more exciting than challenging the military to fisticuffs on Saturdays. "Fine, I'll do it. Just as long as you can promise me a hell of a good fight."
"You can fight anyone, anywhere, and anytime. And trust me, there are some individuals who even you would have difficulty beating. I have one such person in mind already."
She could fight anyone she wanted, a good challenge indeed... What started as a washout might turn into an exciting day after all! Suddenly Frederika grinned widely at the thought of this, her sharp teeth showing freely. "Take me to him right now."
