Chapter 7: The Dragon of Eternity:
The portal shimmered with a deep violet glow as Riku stepped through, his heart pounding in his chest. The Necromancer’s voice echoed in his mind, faint and heavy:
"Beyond this portal lies the test of eternity. Do not falter."
The world that greeted him was unlike any he had seen before. A vast canyon stretched endlessly, skies torn with golden lightning, and at its center—a colossal figure.
The Dragon of Eternity.
Its scales gleamed like polished obsidian, each one reflecting countless stars. Its golden eyes burned with wisdom older than time itself. The sheer pressure of its presence forced Riku to his knees.
“Human,” the dragon’s voice thundered directly into his mind. “You dare step into my domain? Why do you seek my power?”
Riku’s breath caught. His fists trembled, but he didn’t look away.
“Because… I’m weak. Because I’ve been powerless my whole life. But now—I refuse to stay that way. If I must walk through eternity itself to grow stronger, I will.”
The dragon’s eyes narrowed. For a heartbeat, the world seemed frozen. Then, the Dragon of Eternity spread its wings wide, blotting out the canyon sky.
“Very well. Endure my gaze… endure eternity.”
A surge of ancient magic poured into Riku’s soul. Time itself seemed to shatter around him. He saw visions of endless days, years, centuries—loneliness so deep it threatened to drown him. His body screamed, his mind cracked, yet his will… did not break.
Memories of bullying, of being ignored, of sitting alone at the back of the classroom—they fueled him. If he could endure that pain, he could endure this.
Finally, the eternity trial ended. The dragon lowered its head, for the first time in countless years.
“You endured. Few ever do. From this moment, we are bound.”
A glowing sigil appeared on Riku’s hand—a dragon’s eye encircled by flowing script. The Eternal Bond had been formed.
Riku gasped as new strength surged into his body. His vision sharpened, his breathing steadied, and deep inside his chest, he felt the rhythm of the dragon’s eternal heart beating alongside his own.
The Dragon of Eternity let out a roar that shook the canyon walls, then faded into Riku’s shadow, now his eternal companion.
Riku clenched his fists. He could feel it—the bond, the power, the eternity within.
“This… is just the beginning.”
