Dragon Slayer
Raiden and Liza drew the dragon’s attention toward them. When one of them became the main focus of the black dragon the other would strike it with an electric attack. This tactic confused the dragon to the point of violently attacking indiscriminately around it with its breath attack.
Stray blast would pass by me without doing any real damage but the chaotic onslaught made channeling large amounts of mana difficult.
“Pebble make me a spear.” (Arin)
At my command Pebble weaved a large spear out of mithril thread and changed the material into magnetite upon completion. All the mana I had been building up was channeled into the tip of the spear. I focused more on condensing my magic into the very tip to increase its piercing power to its absolute maximum.
The black dragon took notice of all the mana I was manipulating and made me its new target for its fiery breath. I had no choice but to dodge the attack, just barely avoiding it.
“This isn’t going to work. Raiden, try and hold down its movements.” (Arin)
“Understood..” (Raiden)
Raiden took both katanas in hand and plunged them into the ground. Lightning flowed from the blades into the earth, traveling to where the black dragon stood. When at its feet lightning burst from the ground and encased the dragon in the form of a cage. The black dragon flails about, slamming its remaining arm and tail against the electric cage. Although hurt by it the cage was visibly weakening.
“You’re not going anywhere big guy.” (Liza)
Liza with her copy of Raiden’s katanas plunges them into the ground and mimics Raiden’s lightning cage technique. The extra layer to the cage makes the space within tighter. The black dragon’s movement were vastly reduced because of that.
“Since when can you use [Lightning Magic]?” (Raiden)
“That’s just how great these swords are. You’re welcome by the way.” (Liza)
Liza flashes an awkward smile. She was trying to keep up a strong facade but her shaking legs and dripping sweat made it obvious how terrified she was.
“Alright hold him right there.” (Arin)
With a moment to breath I readied the magnetite spear in my hand, aiming it at the dragon’s heart. With all the might I could muster and Pebble’s assistance I hurled the spear towards the dragon. The magnetite spear impales the dragon in its stomach, digging in to where half on the spear had sunk into its flesh.
The spear’s handle acted as a lighting rod to the electric cage, causing the surrounding electricity to flow inside the dragon. Blood was beginning to spill out and the dragon continued to roar in more pain then before. Unfortunately the spear quickly changed from its magnetite form to stone, crumbing into dirt. I guess Pebble’s weapons turn back into earth when not a part of him. If only the magnetite spear lasted longer.
“That’s it master. Give it one more hit. We’re almost the…” (Raiden)
Before Raiden could finish his sentence he had completely reverted back into his regular beastman body. His previous wounds began opening up more in that state. Blood started spilling out of Raiden’s body to the point where it made it hard to stand.
With the weakening of Raiden’s body so did the lightning cage he was maintaining. With the cage weakened the black dragon opened its wings with a powerful force, destroying its electric prison and knocking both Raiden and Liza into the walls of the cavern.
Raiden had taken a serious blow. Blood flowing down his face, impairing his vision and hid body adorn with serious cuts and bruises. Liza was lucky enough to cushion herself with her [Barrier Magic] to were she was able to get back up quickly.
“Damn it, not now. Move body, move…” (Raiden)
The black dragon used its [Fire Magic] to encase itself in a fiery armor and dives towards both Raiden and Liza.
“Get away from them!” (Arin)
With a combination of Pebble’s [Growth] and [Transformation] skills Arin was able to construct a gargantuan fist of mithril and manatite that he crashed into the face of the black dragon. The unexpected strike redirected the dragon’s attack, making the beast hit head first into the cavern’s walls. The collision make the whole area shake.
“Raiden, are you okay?” (Arin)
“I’m sorry master… I don’t think I’ll be much use right now.” (Raiden)
“Stop talking for now. Return to your card and rest. You’ve done enough.” (Arin)
Without a word Raiden loses consciousness and reverts back into his card form. I quickly grab Raiden’s card and place it in one of my deck boxes.
The dragon was disoriented from the sudden punch to the face and sudden crash.
“Liza quickly, get out your hammer. I need you to hit me with it.” (Arin)
“Are you stupid or something? Hows’s that going to…” (Liza)
“Quickly, I need you to use your hammer to launch me toward the dragon!” (Arin)
The dragon was regaining its sense. If we were going to finish this monster off now was the time. I possession myself in front of Liza, ready to receive a powerful blow.
“You’re one crazy bastard you know that. You ready?” (Liza)
“Ready. Do it now.” (Arin)
Liza in the same motion creates and swings her hammer into me with all her strength. Even with Pebble protecting my body I still felt a sharp pain as I was propelled through the air upon impact.
While in flight I had Pebble create a sharp cone shaped lance attached to my non-broken arm and had it rotate at an intense speed, creating a powerful drill. I aimed my makeshift drill arm towards the black dragon’s heart, hoping this time I would finally finish it off.
With the dragon regaining its composure it saw me flying towards it and fired its powerful breath attack. My drill dispersed the attack as I bore through the the dragon’s flames. Only when I finally collide with the dragon’s body did I feel any resistance. The more mana I poured into the drill the faster it spun. The black dragon’s scales and flesh flew out in all directions as I dug deeper into the monster’s torso.
In the end I had drilled all the way through the dragon’s chest to the other side of its body. The black dragon’s chest now had a gaping, bloody hole so big you could see right through its body.
The light in the dragon’s eyes goes dim as its enormous, lifeless body falls to the ground. The silence in that very moment signaled the end of the battle. The mighty dragon that we had feared so much was finally dead. We had finally won.
I am taking a week or two break of posting to focus on my job for now. I plan on posting multiple chapters at a time in the future. Thank you for reading my series so far. Look forward to more chapters.
