Duel Katanas Leven Edge
The battle between Raiden and the black dragon became more intense as time went buy. At first glance it looked like they were evenly match now, but Raiden’s previous injury was noticeably affecting his stamina. It was only a matter of time before he would succumb to the dragon’s strength.
“I found another one over her Liza. Dig it up quickly.” (Arin)
“Got it.” (Liza)
Liza had accumulated tons of experience during todays adventure but she had now yet gained enough to unlock a new copy of her soul card. Trying to gain more experience I had Pebble help us track down more manatite crystals to mine, hoping it would be enough to help Liza unlock another copy. The plan is to use it to repair, and possible enhance, Raiden’s brocken swords.
“This still isn’t enough. I need more quickly.” (Liza)
We were approaching Liza’s experience threshold, but the manatite we would dig up without fear of attack from the dragon was very limiting. Even Pebble was having trouble finding safe places to dig up.
Close to were Raiden and the black dragon were fighting one of the caverns walls had more than enough crystals to satisfy our needs. The problem was the fight had grown to such intensity that if we didn’t dig it up soon Raiden or the dragon might just destroy it.
“We need to draw them away somehow.” (Arin)
Something needed to change if we had any hope of redirecting the fight away from the manatite.
“Pebble you and me will try and lure the dragon away from that spot. Liza when we do dig as fast as you can until your experience maxes out.” (Arin)
“Are you trying to get yourself killed. It’s to dangerous.” (Liza)
“It’s our only option right now. No time to argue.” (Arin)
From one of my deck boxes I pull out my cards of the [Lightning Fang Tigers Fangs] and [Lightning Fang Tigers Mana Stone] and hand them to Liza.
“Take these along with the broken katanas. If you craft something with these It might just make a crazy powerful weapon. I’m trusting you with everything right now.” (Arin)
Liza’s nerves up until now were very shaky, but seeing the trust I was placing in her, the fear she was showing before could no longer be seen and a serious look showed itself on her face.
“You’re probably the biggest idiot I’ve ever met. I’ll leave everything to you Mr. Zombie.”
“The name is Arin damn it. Remember it.” (Arin)
With a plan in place I run towards the dragon with Pebble hanging from me shoulder. Expecting danger I had Pebble change from his stone body to his mithril form. Raiden was able to keep all the dragon’s attention on itself. That made it much easier to approach it from behind. Our of the two of us Pebble was the only one capable of long range attack. I direct Pebble in to using his [Earth Magic] to create large spikes that shoot out of the ground and wall of the cavern. Although not enough to pierce its scaly body the earth spikes were able to push the black dragon away from the manatite crystals. That also left enough of an opening for Raiden in his beastly transformation to deal a powerful lightning attack right in the dragons face.
The dragon turned its head back at me and Pebble, realizing we were becoming a nuisance to it. The black dragon swings its tail at us. Pebble used his [Transformation] skill and take the form of a tower shield with large spikes covering the face of it. When the dragon’s tail collides with the shield the mithril spikes were able toward pierce its sturdy scales, making the dragon cry out in pain.
The mithril was strong enough to cause the dragon real pain. Maybe we could use this to deliver a true finishing blow.
To bad for me, even though the shield did some damage to the dragon didn’t mean I didn’t get out unscathed. The power from the dragon’s tail swipe was diminished by the shield the force from its weight still managed to knock me hard to the ground. Both me and Pebble went flying back a good couple of feet, being knocked into large boulders. Blood started gushing from my mouth, making me gasp for air. My left arm felt completely broken and bruises riddled by body.
The dragon’s focus returned to Raiden. His savage attacks occupied more of the black dragon’s attention, making it take more defensive measure to try and outlast Raiden.
While this whole exchange was taking place Liza had snuck herself towards the manatite crystals and was working as hard as she could to mine all that she could.
“So close, so close.” (Liza)
Liza swung her pickaxe with great precision. She would strike the right spots to collect the most crystals in a speedy and efficient manner. With the last crystal she dug up now in her hands a bright screen appeared in front of her.
[You have reached your maximum experience. New soul card has been acquired.]
Finally all the grueling work had paid off. Without hesitation Liza used the [Card Craft] skill. The bright screen before her now had her soul card [Armaments] placed in the center with four empty slots in each corner. Now rushing Liza placed the cards I had given her previously along with Raiden’s broken katanas in card form. Those all took up three of the four slots leaving one more left. Knowing how powerful manatite is Liza turned the most recently dug up manatite crystal into a card and placed it in the final slot needed for crafting.
With everything now in place all four cards disassembled into particles and were absorbed back into the [Armament] soul card. A bright like now illuminated the cavern, directing everyone’s attention towards Liza. It was so captivating that even Raiden in his berserk state was able to compose himself enough to stare.
“About time you finished up.” (Arin)
Held in Liza’s hand were two sheathed katanas exuding a mystical aura.
“Raiden this is for you!” (Liza)
With all her strength Liza threw the katanas towards Raiden. His eyes no longer glowed red Raiden had dispelled his [Berserk] skill and was lucid enough to understand what was happening.
The black dragon noticed the extraordinary power being emitted from the swords, instinctively knowing that it was a dangerous item. It launches itself towards the flying katanas, readying its jaw to devour it. Raiden however was much faster and thanks to his speed ran up the wall of the cavern and left out to grab the new swords just before the dragon chomped down.
“Master, Liza, thank you both. I felt pretty exposed with a bald in both hands. Now I can’t lose!” (Raiden)
Raiden in his beast form still placed both katanas at his waist and takes a quickdraw stance. The second he looks like he’s about to draw his blades Raidens body flashes out of existence leaving a smoke cloud where he once stood. He was now in front of me and Pebble, having traveled across the whole cavern in the blind of an eye.
“This is going to take some getting used to. I was aiming for the head.” (Raiden)
Almost right on queue a brief silent was quickly followed by the right arm of the black dragon suddenly hitting the ground. The black dragon crying out in unimaginable pain was loud enough to shake the whole cavern.
My gaze going from the dragon’s severed arm made its way back to looking at Raiden’s fully drawn katanas. The blades was completely black with rainbow crack lightning like patterns covering it from top to bottom and a topaz colored gem adorning their hilts.
“I think I’ll name these blades Duel Katanas Leven Edge. Now for a comeback.” (Raiden)
Even with his beastly new face Raiden showed an excited smile. With his new weapons Raiden would completely shift the power balance of this battle.
