Chapter 11 - why am i here
Celestine ,William , Cana and Shizone are heading towards the top of the castle to help variys . They are going up as fast as they Can knowing that he is probably having a hard time fighting valerya . They reached another room To find more monsters & beasts waiting for them there but they seemed rather weak making their jobs a lot easier , William tells them That they are not too far off . Only a little bit more . " Let's go " he shouts heading towards the next stairs while Shizone is running behind him . but she suddenly notice a weird familiar aura roaming around the place . She knows That there is something wrong with this room yet she can’t fixate on this source of disturbance , that of course until all of a sudden She Shouts Alerting William " Watch out !! "
As soon as he heard her voice he turn to see a figure of a man right next to him ready to strike his neck .
' Damn ... This guy ... I didn't even feel his presence ... !! ' thought to himself as he is clearly unable to react in time , all he could do is watch the man swinging his Sword to cut him down , only for Shizone to jump to his aid by blocking the strike , still the attack was too fast & surprisingly strong so much that it sent her away alongside William to the next room ,they both crashed without taking a good look at their attacker but that soon changed when shizone stood up hurriedly gasping in panic followed by a choking reveal that made her freeze on sight . William asks What's wrong . But she is almost speechless .
" That attack ... That aura .... That Sword .... Father !! " she whispered to herself as she stared at the man emerging from the shadows , walking towards her leisurely with cold steps .
Cana and Celestine are surprised. " Father ??!! so he is also here !!! "
The man doesn't respond
" tshk don't tell me ... she is also using him as her guard in this castle " Said William bothered by the fact that they will now have to fight him too before reaching variys .
" father ... that’s not you , you are being controlled !! that evil witch is using you… you can fight it , I know you can , you are a strong honorable man !!! don’t let it be like that . Father !!. " Said shizone freaking out but she still got no response from him
" I’m sorry shizone san . But it's not a principle of honor . like I said , She probably knew he was strong , That's why she went After him . She Was planning on making him her own soldier all along !! ... "
Shizone doesn't reply to that statement . instead She takes a moment staring at the ground in agony then looks back at her father Again & walks few Steps forward Dauntless
"Everyone go Help variys dono .I will take Care of my father ."
Celestine tells her That this is a bad Idea . She might be strong but she doesn't have to go through this all by herself , but Shizone explain to her “ That man right there is my father , He is my family . And That's all the reason why i have to do it on my own , I will free him from valerya’s control , you just have to trust me & not waste any more time … Please Leave this to me and go Help variys dono .!! " She said while gripping to her Sword .
They all looked at each other for a brief moment . And decided to leave him up to her as it’s the only logical thing to do under this circumstances & As they head out towards the stairs , They get passed him with their guards up expecting a similar reaction that of zafir’s but he doesn't attack. Even when he is being controlled . Subconsciously He still have his Honor as a samurai since shizone basically just challenged him & she will be his opponent .
soon after as everyone headed up , shizone is left alone with her father . The room became uncomfortably quiet enough to make her disquieted & after a brief second they both charged at each other . Attacking with all their strength . All that Could be Heard in that room is the resonant sound of two Sword clashing & clanging against each other .
On the top of the castle , Variys is taking hits Left and right by valerya . She is not giving him a chance to breathe as all he Can Do is try to block her attack with his Sword but to no avail since she have powered up way too much for him to follow all her movements .
" How does is feel ... Getting destroyed by my Spear .. you can't even talk Can you .... Where is That spirit of yours ... Let's hear some more jokes .. " she shouted laughing while bashing him viciously
" shut up .. Great Fire of Destruction ! " he screamed in resentment refusing the idea of her overpowering him . Blasting her with a Giant Fire Storm Variys thought that he had made a hit on valerya only to find her behind him smiling wickedly
" Too slow . !! " She said striking him down with her Spear . He tried blocking her attack with his light sword but the spear was way too powerful which lead to shattering Damar Sword & his only leverage in this fight to pieces . He quickly get back to safety trying to create some distance but not before she fires another attack chanting " Dark Magic : Black Dragon Wraith" . unleashing a huge Dragon-Shaped Like Blow Heading towards him, but he reacted perfectly at the right moment " Earth Magic : Wall of Protection’’. he chanted creating a huge rock wall to protect himself from the attack.
" Impressive but ... You are not strong enough " she said as The wall that he just made got destroyed to shreds by the Black Dragon , dropping him to the ground afterwards.
it clearly caused him a lot of damage & variys doesn’t have much mana left to even survive this fight , met alone win it , All he Can Do is lay down on his back as valerya approached him with her Spear screeching against the floor .
" Look at you . Why do That to yourself . You know damn well you can't defeat me and yet you still want to fight . You are not a hero . Why even throw away your life for people That you don't even know " she said
He tries to stand UP but he is way To beaten to even talk
" Hero ... huh , I know damn well I’m not one ... And I’m not risking my life for other people . I’m a villain , so it's only natural That i go After what i want without consideration. & I want that throne hahahah , Plus you hurt my servants and i can't just stay quiet and not do anything about That you know , if a rumor spreads to the kingdom that the great variys wasn’t able to protect his servants & got scared away by a witch , it could hurt my reputation , That's why am here . I’m Just a villain with a lot of free time to waste kahkah". he stated while coughing blood from the previous attack .
" Servant ?? You mean Those girls ... I See ... So you really tricked yourself into thinking That you are a true demon lord ... Don't make me laugh . You are nothing but a worthless Man who made a Big mistake coming to this place." She said lifting her Spear ready to finish him while he was on his knees still struggling to get up & unable dodge this strike .
" Die !!! " shouted valerya as the spear went for his head , variys thought that this would be it , he failed at his mission to become a great demon lord , but at least he had the adventure he always dreamed of in his past life , he meet new people that cared for him & knew him for what he truly is , even though he didn’t stay much in this world , he was blessed enough to live in it for a short period , but all that is about to end as he couldn’t even lift his fist from being too beaten up , he is probably going to die here & now….
or at least that’s what he thought would happen because before he could even realize valerya’s attack was suddenly blocked by a Sword . and it was non-other that his rival himself , Variys looks up wondering why the attack didn’t hit him only to see William standing between him & valerya ,smirking
" Yo partner . It seems you are having hard a Time. Mind if I join you’’. he said Putting Variys at ease as the other one replied laughing hysterically " hahahah Not really , i was just chilling on the Ground … ‘’
On the first floor . The 3 Darak knights alongside Naomi are having a hard Time with Zafir The berserker . Kinshi goes for the next attack by creating a smoke cloud spell to make it hard for the Giant orc to see , while Miliodas bombards him with massive a lightning bolt incantation & zarako finish the combo blasting him with a destructive fire explosion . even Naomi joined the fight as she kept cutting him with her holly Sword , But the beast doesn't go down instead he fights back swinging his huge hammer around like it Was nothing scattering them around like flies . As they are thrown on the ground after the impact , Zafir heaved his hammer & his eyes started glowing red in fury , even his weapon let off a dark glowing aura putting everyone on alert .
" What is he planning to do now ?? " said Naomi " Everyone be careful . We don't know what he is able to do & how far the range of his attack might be " warned them Miliodas but it was too late as the last one already unleashed his attack shouting
" HAMMER SMASH “ " What … he talked !!! "
“ Carful !! “
The orc smashed his hammer against the ground so hard it destroyed the whole room sending a huge wave of a blast as all four of them strewed away untidily.
Few moments later Naomi and the knights are struggling to stand still while they Can barely lift their weapons after taking a huge damage from the last hit , with kinshi stating in distress
" What a power !! ’’ " This Monster ... How are we supposed to defeat something like this ?! . " Said Naomi almost desisting But Zarako stands UP bravely to encourage her .
" Don't worry Naomi San . We will take Care of him . Comrades ... it’s about time …. We are gonna use That !! ."
" That ... You don't mean ... "
" Yeah ... it’s our last resort” " That's probably the right thing to do . After all We don't have enough Time “ " What are you talking about ?! " Asked Naomi .
The 2 Knights stand UP and walk straight to be at the same line at zarako .
" What are you going to do ? " She asked again & Miliodas replied with a simple warning stating that it would be best if she took cover , things might get messy .
Soon after They all raised their Sword to be faced up as Lightning ,fire and shadow went through their whole armor momentarily , they were about to surprise him with a special Technique But Zafir caught up to them quickly & he decide to show his strongest attack too as He makes a heaving stand getting ready to strike
" He won't let us go this easily …. huh " said Miliodas.
" It doesn't matter . We will end him with this attack "
Miliodas looks at Naomi
" Naomi san , make sure That variys san defeat That woman ... he is our only hope "
" What do you mean ?! "
" let's go comrades ! " he said as they all shout at the same time " Triple Unison Attack !! “
” GRAND HELL FIRE ! “
“ JUDGMENT OF RAGNAROK ! “
“ GRIMM KNIGHT RAGE ! “
All their attack simultaneously got unleashed at zafir’s way coming into one huge mass of Magic Destructive Blow destroying everything on its way . yet he doesn't stand back , instead he screams with an unnerving Roar
" Death Hammer !!! "
While hauled his hammer as it ignited with dark crimson like Fire Followed by a huge radiation Beam Heading their way counter attacking their Blast
Both sides wailed with All their might and pushed through their limits as their attacks collided to a mass energy Light followed a huge explosion that accrued from the shock of their techniques , Wreaking the whole room Down from the strength of the impact .
Moments later Naomi wakes up in the middle of the rumbles After she got knocked out by the explosion . All she Could see is crumbles and leftover rocks of what used to be the down hall of the castle , soon after She spotted Zafir knocked out bleeding & couldn’t be more relieved by the outcome.
" They did it . They really did it " she said only to pick up a discomfort voice . of a man in pain .
She turns Again to the other side of the chattered room to see the barely alive corpses of zarako and Miliodas as they got injured heavily by the hit of the giant orc . the only one conscious enough was Kinshi but he was barely able to breath . She quickly tried to help him get up but he tells her That it's no use, he is out of Magic power & took a big blow ,
" The technique we just used was our strongest attack . we managed to take him down but this Monster ... He didn't go out easy . If we didn't counter attack his hammer strike , we Could all be dead now . " He said coughing in pain and about to go unconscious .
" Kinshi san ... " " Don't worry , my comrades are still alive & we will be fine … but ...I’m afraid that This is the end of the fight for us . "
" That's ... "
" Naomi san . I have something i want you to give variys san " He said picking up his sword from the gravel & passing it on to Her .
" Your Sword ... But .. Variys kun can't use it "
" Yes , he Can ... My Sword is a shadow type Weapon .So it's Around The Corner of variys san’s alley in sort of speaking . He should be able to wield it just fine ... "
“Kinshi San ….”
" Please make sure to give him this Sword !! it could be a great changer to his fight upstairs "
" Got it . I promise you i will give it to him then Come back for you and the others". she said as she held into it tightly & went up hastily .…

On the other floor shizone is also having a hard Time with her father as he is clearly stronger & faster than her . She Can barely block his swings . each time he strikes her down she feel like her sword is about to shatter to pieces She realized That if she want to finish him off quickly , she needs a plan , and a fast one before her sword completely gets destroyed … she need to use her strongest attacks So she takes a jump back to make some distant while staring at her dad being out of her reach .
Suddenly , another memory came across her mind in that exact instant , this time it’s from many years ago when she was still a kid still trying to learn the way of the sword . a kid shizone is doing her best to straighten her grip by striking down a tree from each side to make it fall down , that was her test in order to become a great swords-woman . yet she didn’t seem to make any progress & that made her more & more bothered by her skills , enough for her father to make notice the look on her little face so he called for her
“ shizone , come her …. “ he said with a cold manner enough to make her nervous as she walked towards him timorous replying with a low voice . ‘’ yes , father .” “ what’s wrong ! “ “ the tree , I can’t cut through it for some reason , I tried from each side as hard as I could but to no avail . I think there is something wrong with me , maybe I’m too weak for this … “ she replied at the verge of crying
“ maybe you have been trying to imitate other swords man in their style of mastership , that’s why you can’t go through it … “ “ huh ?? What Do You Mean “ “ You Are Trying to be fast , You Are trying to be stronger than the tree , which isn’t going to happen since it’s not you . the tree is much stronger than your little body & you can’t cut through it with brute force anytime soon ”
as he stated that she lowered her head down in shame only to feel a gentle hand patting her head soon after , she looks back at her father to see him pulling off a gentle smile saying with a soft kind voice . “ You Are elegant , Kind & Graceful , so that’s how your cuts should be , don’t try to be like me , you are who you are & should act based on that alone. Try to Cut Through that tree with an ingenious strike , do that as I’m sure it would work , Now go , shizone Uhara . “
he said giving her the Absolut incentive that she needed as she turned back to the tree , still hearing his voice
“ Breath , Shizone , Don’t Fight The Tree, don’t think about how hard it might bee , Go Straight Through it with no hesitation & let your sword do the rest … “ he repeated to her as she closed her eye griping on her sword focusing on his voice . & Back on The Castle Today’s Shizone Is Doing The same thing . still able to her dad’s voice as she lets off a Deep Heavy Breath
" Secret Breathing Technique !!! …." she chanted as yellow aura start to cover her Sword & Body , Her eyes glowed in the dark room , She Opened her Sight Slowly to Her father does the same move without even saying a word , Hi Sword Radiated With Black Mana… .
" So you are trying to finish me off too father … I promise , i will free you from That woman grip even if it coast me my own life !! " she stated valiantly
Somehow a small smirk is drawn on his face . As if he heard what she said and that was enough proof That her father is still there, deep inside he wants her to free him . a small tear went down he cheek but then gathered her strength before charging at him with at full speed & So does he .
As the two closed distance, energy burst through her body and she Shouts while swinging her sword with all her strength. " Final Form : Dance of The Holly Angel !!
"Seconds later they are both standing back to back after making their strongest Technique . The Now bleeding shizone is in great pain after taking a hit in the ribs but stayed stood , not making a move , as for him, it took him a while but eventually he fell dawn to the ground with no trace of an injure or cut
as he is going down a smile is drawn on his face and all she could her was a fainted voice saying " Thank You Shizone …. " Right Before Collapsing. …
On the throne room William just saved variys by blocking valerya’s Spear & she couldn’t be any more annoyed by this perfectly timed intervention .
" You damn Traitor ... You dare stand against me, don’t you Remember what happened last Time ?... Should i remind you once again .. " she said in fury
" Yeah i do , I remember that you caught me off guard, That's why i Lost to you , But this Time is different . " he replied
" Huuuh . What so different . you are still the same weakling as last Time . you have no chance defeating me . Definitely not when now i have my Armor ."
" Yeah i can't defeat you by my own . That's why he will Help me!’’ And as soon as he said that she Instantly Caught a glimpse of variys jumping from behind him .
" Infigar !! " he shouted blasting her with a fire incantation but She managed to jump back at the right moment totally avoiding that attack only to get hit by another holly beam from aside , yet she blocked the last one too using her spear to deflect it . the one who made that attack was none other than cana joining the fight .
“ cana , you are here too !! “ he said in surprise .
“ sorry it took us so much time to get here variys sama , we had some trouble on our way up , & we had to leave shizone and the others to take Care of it . but it should be all fine now “ said cana while Stepping forward ready to fight .
Variys is speechless by the two of them joining him only to feel a gentle touch on his back followed by a green bright light forming around his body, he turns to see Celestine Healing him with her special incantation . " Cele ? ..” " You are hurt variys sama !! . Please let me heal you " she said in total focus " Yeah . Thank You "
" What a nuisance . You think just Because more weaklings showed up , that you have a chance to Beat me . Don't make me laugh !! "
Said valerya while charging up her next attack only for Naomi to show up.
" Variys kun !! " Shouts Naomi gasping out of breath after running to the top hall so fast.
" Naomi ! You’re ok "
‘’ yeah , and I got something for you !!! ‘’ she said while Throwing kinshi's Sword his way , he reacted quickly by catching it with no hesitation
" This is .... Kinshi's sword I believe , Why... "
"He wanted you to have it , said That you Can wield it and should come handy if used .’’
" But this is a shadow Sword !. I never used one before ... "
William turns to him . saying
" It doesn't matter if you never used it before . if Kinshi said you Can wield it . Then you Can . He won't just give away his Sword to someone that he himself didn't trust "
" He ... Trusted ... Me ... "
" We all do variys sama !! " said Celestine
" That's rights ... That's why we followed you here . Because we trust you ... We have faith in you . So have some in yourself . "
“ Cana … you too … I see ... hah, how pathetic I have turned to be , to think that a demon lord will need some pep talk from his subordinate , fine…." Said variys while smiling As he fixate on the sword to unleash its full potential .
' Come on ..i Can Do this ... This is easy .... all I have to do is to Focus my mana and direct it through the sword . Become one with the Sword . Focus.... focus ….Focus !!! Damn it '
A brief moment later variys found himself lost trying to unleash the sword potential , but little did he know , that he had already passed that millstone …
“ Variys sama “ he heard cana calling for him to open his eyes only to see black smoke covering his whole body
" That's .... I feel More Magic power is going through my whole body than the sword itself ... How is this possible "
" That's the power of the Shadow Sword ... It accepted you ... " Said William .
" I see ... This is Amazing . This Is Pure Darkness , hahahah , Now i feel That i have a chance ... With the power of this Sword & you guys by my side …!! "
" What a Stupid thing to Say ... Nothing changed ... You will all be dead before the day is over !!! this had been dragged out way too long , Die you Scums !!!" said valerya as she charged at them .
