My name is Jeffery Lawson, 27 year old black male living in some third world country, known for its sometimes comedic violence and internet fraud [ I’m not throwing shade to where I was born but…]. It’s the year 2063, the future, well sort of. Things haven’t changed for the past thirty or so years, my dad would always say. Life was always steady. The economy was stable, but weird…
Well, that doesn’t matter here. As I said I’m 27 year old man who has a big addiction; and that is to sit at home and game all day. I’m a NEET through and through, spending at least 8-10 hours on my PC gaming… Playing different genre of games, I gradually got stuck to MMO’s, my favorite at the time been *Orion Online* … it was a large scale MMO that used the latest tech known as RayGear © tech that allowed players to transfer parts of the consciousness into the game. Though it was scrutinized on release so as to avoid another SAO type incident (from the anime SAO where players were locked into a death game), it was scientifically proven safe and sold en masse.
It took me 3 years of part time jobs that I was able to gather enough money to purchase my RayGear set and finally start my Deep dive into the world of VR gaming at its peak. I started off with some FPS’s then shifted to MOBAS and finally MMO’s… and boy did I love MMO’s
I started off with some random ones, then I went for the mainstream MMO of my time, Orion Online, and oh boy did I love it…
Orion’s world, also known as Orion, was divided into 7 continents, 5 where inhabited by sentient races while the last 2, known as the dark lands owned by the dark races of daemons
The 7 continents included:
Loran to the west, land made of vast expanses of jungle and swamps. The great artifacts of an old civilization rest in these lands
Ourthan to the far north, a cold and treacherous plane were only the brave and sometimes foolish made their abode.
Genjo to the east, a land full of mountains and hills acting as a natural defense for these lands
Towar (pronounced TO-waar) home to the largest desert, Towar, this continent is relatively barren except for its coasts that have been inhabited and where trade thrives. Taking space just east of Genjo, and west of Helios. It is the biggest continent on Orion
Helios home of the golden lands of promise, of vast forests and plains, this land is in the epicenter of Orion, boasting of been the second biggest continent next to Towar
The Shadow Lands just south of most continents, it is rather the smallest but deadliest of the known continents. Known to be the battlefield where a Daemon king and a coalition of heroes once fought to save Orion, it emits the dark aura of the daemon kings essence, polluting the lands and attracting Daemons from the abyss.
Faythan Limbo nothing is known about this continent, and in fact , no one seems to believe its exists in-game, as it only was found in the Data mined files in Orion Online database. We all assumed it would be added in a future update.
The available playable races included:
Humans (as every playable mmo has had since the beginning of time). This race has been sub classed into the Highlanders, Imperial born, Rahdasians and Kolsians. Humans were known to be adept in all and masters at none (jack of all trades), excelling in both physical and magical combat.
Elves (also a solid mmo favorite). This race is sub classed into Sun elves (high elves) Tree elves (wood elves) Moon elves and Shadow elves (dark elves)… they were masters of magic and stealth, known for their long lives and uncanny beauty…
Dwarves, a race of beings, know known for their short stature; they are blessed with strength and wisdom in the art of crafting and hard labor. They usually are found in mountains or deep in underground cavern networks with cities built and grafted by them. They are divided into Mountain Dwarves, Cave Dwarves and Plain Dwarves…
Drakelings or Drakes known to be descendents of a cursed race of dragons, they were devolved into humanoid forms. Years and years and thousands of years of mix breeding and evolution forced them to look more human like with the only difference been the horns and small amount of scales. They are usually divided by their elemental affinity which comes with the color of their scales…
Hisshin also known as the lizardmen, direct devolution of ancient giant lizards related to the first generation of monsters. They live in packs and usually like to stay isolated. They are subdivided into Swamp and Mountain Variants
Kaikiri Sith majorly feline folk, born from an ancient heavenly spirit who loved cats and decided to create a race filled with sentient cats… things didn’t go well as her creation rebelled against her and sealed her, leaving their heavenly realm for the mortal realm…
These were the playable races and their bios given to us in game, I usually liked playing a Drakeling with the Monk Class to maximize damage and mobility. For a subclass I usually picked druid since they didn’t have the barrier of been mana locked as other magic based classes where. This turned out to be a meta build later on as the later levels, the passive known as Nature’s Respite would allow a player to enhance their stats to a cap of 10 levels upwards; this was good for monks because of the fact that monks in the game had a skill called Heavenly Dao Awakening: a rank 10 monk skill that connected enhanced all stats enhancement skills by 100%, gave regen and double on hit effects by 50% whilst making one immune for a period of time.
This proved to be game breaking for a long time before a patch announcement announced its nerf… this patch would be Orion online’s last update news, as a few days after; the most painful news was posted on its official Tweeter Page…
ORION ONLINE WAS TO BE BROUGHT DOWN
It seemed that the company had embroiled itself in some financial issues and had fallen into debt. Fans of the game went ahead to start a fund raiser, but even that wasn’t enough to quell the nearly multibillion dollar debt. I felt like tearing my hair out. All the time and effort to max out my character would be in vain. The good thing was that the producers of Orion named Softhearts made the game free to play through and through, but it cost them a lot to keep the servers running, and soon they filed a suit of bankruptcy.
In retrospect to the fans, they decided to create an event called Armageddon; a large scale invasion from the dark abyss that would end up killing all players in the game. It was on this day my journey began.
February 18th 2063; me and my clan known as the Gore Hunters, 13 members made up of my old school mates and friends gathered together for our final war meeting, our final day in Orion, and our final stand. All clans had created a united coalition to her of the dark abyss. The all chat was buzzing with activity. Players seen running around the lobby as a giant hologram, showing a countdown 8:10 and counting down.
Braum312: my closest friend and a dwarf artificer, IamSynth a female classmate I had a crush on in college, she ended up marrying Braum. She played a Sith arcane witch and was our highest mage dps, NautiNautiwuw: Our human Warlord fighter, 101NOOb: our Elf Star Shooter (a higher version of the regular Archer with Celestial augmentation from a past dlc),
And me… the Drakeling monk
These were the elite council of our clan (if you could call it that), and my friends from school.
We all started Orion together, I been the one who invited the others. In a year of grinding, dungeon crawling, boss raids we finally maxed level our characters, climbing the ranks to top 10, we mostly prioritized on high tier dungeon scouring…
We all stood in the town center with over hundreds of thousands of players, all races and classes, waiting for the final hour, the final few minutes of their lives in Orion online.
“Think I’m going to miss this world” Abraham ‘Braum312’ put in, trying to break the cold silence we had put up, swiping away his holo console as he finished up equipping his large mana cannon. I looked at him closely, seeing the weariness in his face. I knew he had spent a lot of time and effort in grinding in this world, so did I. but for him it felt it was all for naught. In less than 5 minutes the final boss to end this world would spawn, and we were to fight till we died and forcefully logged out permanently.
I opened my skill tree, making sure to equip the right skill set and equipment, which was made up of some high tier garbs, orange and red, made up of a toga, large baggy pants and level 85 chakram beads as large as tennis balls strapped over my neck.
“If anything it was a fun 3 years” Cynthia’s light hearted voice rang out to Braum. Even though Synth was a grown woman, 1 year older than me, she still sounded the same as she was in high school. Lighthearted and carefree; always up to do and active, it was what I liked about her, what ‘we’ liked about her. She could always bring joy to a sour mood. But watch out for when she was mad, Oh boy!
“Still after all this time you guys could never still beat me!!!” Paul ‘NautiNautiwuw’ cut in, finally finishing is equipment load out made up of a rank 10 special Type Sword he called Reaper. It was a rare drop he got from a dungeon crawl in the Towar desert area. A sword that had a 10% chance to instantly kill anything. In a 1v1, we always lost to him, even without the sword as Paul was a min/max player (a player who allocates exp points and stats to create the most optimal and strong build) and so knew almost every way to build against anyone. He only fell off in large scale raids as bosses from threat level 90 and above, could evolve its resistances and defenses to counter the players.
“Shut it, meat head, before I come to your house and pound you” interjected Mary 101NOOb, our Star shooter and the oldest girl and person overall in the guild. Paul winced and shivered, curling behind me.
The thing was that Paul and Mary were cousins who lived in the same neighbourhood as me, though in a more secluded and wealthy area. And Mary was a weight lifter and kick boxer. Why she picked a class dealing with range still baffled us to this day. But one thing was sure; never try to melee her because she was a marksman, her superiority in close quarters in real life factored into the game, making her a formidable opponent to take on…
Large announcement boards popped over our heads, stating that the Abyssal gate had opened in the northern Gate, all players are to stand by for temporal teleportation.
“Look sharp people!” I said, stretching forth my hand and summoning a Quarterstaff which heavy magic inscriptions. This was my rank 10 weapon, ‘Nyoibo’, also known as the power pole. I had gotten it after I had evolved my druid animal spirit, Path of Monkey to its max rank…
The reason why I played a Drakeling Monk-Druid was because I loved Sun wukong and wanted to make a build about him. Even though I picked the Drakeling race, I did so because of their passive to stack damage, and high affinity to hand to hand and weapon combat… the Drakeling variant I picked was void type, a dark scaled dragon type that excelled In hand to hand and had the ability in later levels, to unlock void attacks; the ability to weave sound waves for attacks… added with my monk skills and this was already a meta build if one went full on monk, instead of multiclassing. But my extra deviation came from the druid class, especially from the ‘supposedly’ weakest animal spirit path, The Path of the Monkey…
It had one of the games strongest, but useless ability till date: Monkey see Monkey do: an ability that allowed one to copy the last attack used by an enemy. That seemed strong on hearing it, but there was a catch. You could only copy an enemy that is lower level than you, and you must be the person to deal the final blow to that enemy… and you could use the ability, once…
Needless to say, it was a hard ability to use, compared to other rank 10 Spirit animal abilities. Hell, even the Path of Tiger boosted your strength and speed cap by 100%. But in order to fit the aesthetic, I chose not to deviate, even though it was a weak class combination. Besides, I had a trick up my sleeve, that is, if the battle went according to plan.
Looking at the timer as it crawled to its final 30 seconds; I readied and spun my pole, looking at the other clan members as we nodded to each other.
“When we done here, lets meet up at the usual place to celebrate” I said to them, as they all nodded. The remaining members in the clan that I didn’t know much about also nodded.

All players transfer complete’ the AI announced server wide, as a sudden ray of light erupted in our vision. I had teleported a lot, but the sudden feeling when one was teleported always put me on edge… it felt like a sudden volt of electricity was going through my brain, charging it up.
We and thousands of players all appeared in a symphonic flash of lights at the Northern Gates found north of the Golden City found in Helios. Soon after our arrival, we noticed the presence of high level guilds already preparing high tier magic buffs and all the NPC factions and Lords preparing to face the enemy. It was a large army of over 500,000 players and 3 million NPCs, amounting to an army of 3.5 million, all waiting for the abyssal gates to open. The composition of about 300,000 cavalry of different races, 100,000 dragon and wyvern riders, 100,000 Griffin riders, 1,000,000 infantry troops, 500,000 archers and mages respectively.
Our hearts beat loudly in our virtual chest; I looked at my HP and Ki bar and my BPM (a small status bar that showed our heartbeat rate in real life, so in case one was to go into shock, he would be logged out of the game).
Silently, in the background, the in-game battle music known as Armageddon Rising began to playing, giving the battle atmosphere a sudden charge. It was at this time, the first abyss portal opened…
“Ok ladies and gents, look alive” The leader of the number 1 guild, AmenRowan, an Oathkeeper knight announced to all the players… His clan known as the Iron Swarm, mostly made up of Oathkeeper knights and Holy Clerics, stood in front of the battle field, adorned in their Silver armour with blue ascents… they were the epitome of holiness and virtue in game, even though players knew they sometimes went overboard.
At his words, the entire player base roared in unison, raising our weapons high in the air.
Loud flaps were soon heard as a giant Celestial Dragon flew over the crowd. Riding it was Emperor Ical Rowan Niroy, the current ruler of the Golden Bastion, in whose lands the abyss gates were to be opened… The celestial dragon he rode stood at about 50 feet tall and 60 feet wing span, with 4 white wings on its back. It had a long snout with 3 horns, 2 protruding from its side and 1 at the center of its head. Its scales gleamed silver with small golden accents at its claws and wing tips. On it the Emperor himself decked with golden armour, a crown and a white cape, holding both the Empires banner and his head high. His trimmed nutmeg beard showed hints of aging, as he looked blow at the players and subjects. In a loud voice, he gave a pronouncement…
“Warriors, heroes, brothers and sisters.” He paused for a moment after he got our attention. His voice brought a sudden silence into the battle field. We all hushed in order to hear his next words, even if we already guessed what he was to say.
“To some this is our final hour, to others this is the end of an old life and the beginning of a new, but no matter what our differences may be, no matter the race or culture here, we all have something to protect… even if this is the end for us, we will die fighting for a brighter future. FOR ORION!!!” he roared, raising the banner over his head… in unison all the players and NPC soldiers returned the battle cry with…
“AWUGH! AWUGH!! AWUGH!!!”
It was a battle cry we learnt from a particular Spartan movie that was incorporated into the game.
Immediately after this, the in-game battle music began to intensify, a mix of sonorous voices and war drums…
“Buffers!!! Engage!!!” a command resounded, been repeated across the field as Clerics, Healers and Enhancers began to chant, applying buffs on all allies around them. Spells like:
Holy Radiance
Energy Enhancement
Life Essence
Greater Mana boost
Greater Life boost
Law of Heavenly Blessings
Defense UP
Attack Up
Ultra Attack Boost
Level Enhancement
Immunity
Greater Immunity
Tower of Protection
Preeminence
Premonition
Lorimar’s Promise
Frozen Keep
Boosted Gear
Grand Crest
Revival
Aura of Power
These spells effects popped off in different shapes and colours, almost turning the sky into a myriad of lights. I and my team basked in the buffs, as we buffed ourselves using our class actives. I had activated Warriors Instinct, Draconic Embrace (my racial active that boosted my melee damage) and Heavenly Dao Awakening, our Bard used Lyrics of the old Satyr: a buff that increased our HP regeneration and movement speed by 80%, also making us immune to curse spells, Our Cleric used Holy Radiance and Tower of Protection and Serenity to further boost our defences and resistances to dark magic debuffs such as curse.
Braum activated his Mana cannon and enhanced its effects; Paul activated Highlander and Warriors Respite (both Warlord effects to boost offense and accuracy), Sith summoned her Level 90 Wyvern mount and activated Mana Essence, and 101NOOb went ahead and activated Eye of the Phoenix to boost her overall accuracy and weapon power.
In less than a minute, we were ready for the next challenge. It was at that moment, the battle music suddenly went silent, as the first abyssal gate opened.
The air went silent, then cold. The portal swirled from its epicenter, expanding in a mass of dark and purple hues, its evil energy pouring out in a cacophony of wails and cries. Even after years of going on abyssal raids, the sound effects always had me shook to my bones. My heart rate jumped a little until I was able to calm myself and take a few deep breaths.
‘It’s going to be fine’ I thought to myself ‘it’s not as if they would release Gremlins first wave right?’
WRONG!!!
Because the first things that came out of the portal were Gremlins, all at level 70… Gremlins were low level Abyss type mobs that high Physical resistances and a skill known as deflect, were they could counter one PHY atk done to them. To a melee class like me they would be a formidable foe, even at our level advantage… the Gremlins, a fusion of orcs with abyssal magic, stormed out of the portal in troves of 10’s and 20’s, and soon, began to clock in the thousands. Before we knew it, their roars drowned out our hearing, as they charged towards us, clubs and flails in hand. The Horde was coming.
“All mages, hands to battle stations!” a loud command came from the chain of command of the PC’s; all mages, sorcerers and clerics moved up and began casting basic wall spells. Gremlins may be powerful against PHY atks, but were very susceptible to most magic archetypes, and Very weak against Holy and Fire magic.
Immediately, magic circles began to emanate over the battle field in the thousands, as the NPC army joined our mages to cast large scale wall and AOE spells
Cascade of Fire
Heralds Gate
Wall of Light
Holy Ground
Purifier
Tiamat’s Engulfment
Most of these spells, even low tier ones, helped in weakening, and even annihilating the horde of gremlins; the few that made it through were easily cut down by our Front liners.
More and more portals soon began to open, as more gremlins poured out like mad zombies to a pile of human flesh; they seemed to have no end. But the more that came, the more we slew; and in over 30 minutes of magical explosions, we had cleared over 300,000 Gremlins…
That was when the real challenges began to pop out. A death Knight soon arrived from the portal, riding and undead stallion and holding a large Lance on his right hand. Death Knights were heralds of Liches who swore fealty to their undead masters for the gift of eternal life. A single death knight was a level 80 mini boss that could absorb magic and had resistances to physical damage, not as high as the gremlins, but high enough. What took us unawares was the amount of death Knights that spawned.
300!!!
“Holy shit!” a voice behind me exclaimed
“This is unreal, there’s no way!?” another said…
Even I couldn’t hold back the string of curses that left my lips, this was plain unbelievable. It would take over half our forces to handle this, as death knights had a passive skill called Death’s Throes whereby they would resurrect after 30 seconds of been killed if we didn’t find their Phylactery and destroy it… and that was already time tasking as is. Now they were 300 in number, it felt very difficult to handle as the average raid size to kill one of these suckers was about 1000 players…. JESUS!!!
“Okay boys look alive; this is where the fun begins!” Braum yelled out to out guild, other players were already hyped up, and even though we knew the cost would be great, we steeled our nerves, wielded our weapons like our hearts in our hands, and CHARGED!!!
*** 2 Hours Later***
The ensuing battle went on and on. After the Death knights, came the Liches, and then 3 elder Liches, the casualty count stacking up. Over 2.5 million npcs had died, and about 15,000 players remained logged in, I included. It was as bloody as it could get; we had just downed the 3rd elder Lich when a new portal opened, larger than the ones we had seen before. I and 101NOOb, the only members of our guild left, looked each other in the eyes, panting heavily. She stretched her hand towards me, and I grasped hers, linking our fingers to tighten the grasp
“You know…” I started and trailed off to catch my breath. Even in game, staying logged in for too long could cause stress both ways.
“I wonder if we could get engaged after this” I finally added after catching some air in my lungs.
“Took you long enough” her raspy voice replied mine, as a cold but calm smile spread across her elven face. It had been known in real life that I had a thing for Mary. We even went out twice, and I enjoyed been with her. She was calm and collected, but very shy in showing her feelings, best part, she was built. ‘I love my women ripped’ flew directly into my head as my mouth almost began to water.
“So… urrh… I’ll have to tell the others… and uhhh…” she shyly continued, her face turning a bright shade of pink, as her elven ears turned red and her hair covered her eyes…
I laughed!!!
We were about to face the possible final boss of the game, and yet I still had the strength to still laugh. I amazed myself sometimes. Mary laughed with me; the acceptance that we were going to die had set in.
The Portal in front of us swirled and distorted, until a demon like arm ripped through the fabric and pulled itself out… the Level 99 boss himself, Asmodius, king of the Abyss had arrived. This was going to be a hard battle.
I readied my highest rank awakening; summoning the Celestial Monkey with my Druid powers, activating my Dragons Will from my draconic lineage and activated Heavenly Dao of Final Reckoning, an ability that allowed me break the Level 99 barrier into Level 100…
“Let’s do this May” I told her, grasping Nyoibo and summoning the rest of my Ki left to fly…
This was the end game, the Final BOSS… MY entire MMO career summarized, I had to make it count.
***1 final boss fight later***
To our surprise, we ended up defeating Asmodius, and close all the abyssal gates, and by we I meant me and the remaining 1200 players and 100,000 NPC troops
The soldiers rejoiced, while we players looked up in astonishment at where Asmodius body began to disintegrate.
‘Were they serious about shutting down the game?’
‘How were we able to defeat the unkillable raid of the abyss?’
‘Why haven’t we been logged out?’
These questions boggled the minds of the players as we gathered together to try and understand what was going on.
That was when it happened…
It started as a small crack in the fabric of reality
Then a Tear…
Then in-between this tear, a scrawny malnourished arm slowly opened up reality like a veil or curtain… what we saw next was nightmare fuel for the rest of my week… a being made to look like a jug, three unopened slits for eyes with a large mouth, out of which long, bloodstained protruding teeth, grinding and cracking… it stood over 1000 feet tall, a true giant, as its gait was seen in the clouds.
I WAS TERRIFIED!!!
Someone in the back screamed as she fainted. Many players were forcefully logged out due to sudden heart palpitations…
It was then we heard the words that sent more out of the game..
“For when they shall say peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as a woman with child, they shall not ESCAPE”
Immediately he said that, everyone, all sentient life around a 100 mile radius, died all 1200 PC’s and 100,000 NPC troops. All of us died in an instant…
Well I thought we all died, but when I opened my eyes, I saw my stat block beeping, showing critical HP…

On seeing this, my eyes lit up, why was I still alive?
Then the answer came to me as I rechecked my stat block. Both Rise of the Phoenix, a low tier resurrection item and Sanctuary, a high level Druid passive that put one in an extra planar dimension when one was below 10% HP, had activated at the same time. In this small pocket dimension, I could see a crevice in reality, showing the level of destruction the monster had created. One of its eyes was opened, its left eye, a dark coloured mass of dark magic that shook me to my bones
I used my Ki discernment technique to look into the stat block of this boss, in order to see what I was up against, even when I knew it was all hopeless. And all I saw was this…

‘Hooollllyyyy Shit!!!’
They really did it, they actually did it. SoftHeart do listen to the fans. The rest of the guys are so gonna be jealous… In Orion, the lore was well fleshed out, detailing most of the continents, races, factions and even monster origins. One monster though that caught our attention was this Level 100 Mob that never saw the light of release. THE ENTITY; a mystery wrapped in lore about 10 pages long, it is said to be the creator of the Plane of Orion itself; and what a way to close out such a huge MMO by fighting its creator.
I chuckled under my breath; the timer for the sanctuary about to run out, I grit my teeth and said to myself
“If they want to bring in a god, then I’m gonna break the game as a sendoff”
See, in every video game made from the beginning of time, there will always be bugs, glitches or even exploits; anything with a netcode essentially. Even Orion on release was a buggy mess that took a year of patches to fix. But there were still a few bugs lingering here and there, and this one was part of the GAME-BREAKING-GET-MY-ACCOUNT-BANNED-FOREVER kind
You see monks had different levels and plains of power to operate, but it went in 2 parallel dimensions… all monks started at Earth Dao or Ki of Earth Control where players could choose one of two paths: Path to Heaven to unlock the Heavenly Dao levels or Path of the Damned to unlock the Dao of Destruction levels. The strength varied late game as Heavens path gave players more utility and immunity to status effects, whilst the Damned path gave players higher destructive capabilities… but these powers always worked in parallel as opening one closed the other. So no monk could use both paths of Dao simultaneously; if they were playing without using an exploit.
See in order to bypass this, I found out while reading my Racial stats that; supposedly, The passive skill known as Cursed of Ashkanar would allow me access, for a short period of time, to use Dao of Destruction relative to my Heavenly Dao level, which was on maxed out at the final mantra known as Heavenly Dao: Ascension of god.
That wasn’t even as game breaking as it seemed. Add the Druid skill Natures Respite, and one could be Invincible and have the highest Atk damage in the game. But even that could be seen as a Min/Max build.
Naaaah, add the Celestial Monkey skill known as Monkey see Monkey Do, and the target I killed using this last time. You see, three weeks prior, me and the clan went deep dungeon diving and killed a Mikonite, a low tier tiger/humanoid monster that had high agility and speed stats. Whilst their attacks weren’t strong, it had an ace up its sleeve, one of the few instakill techniques in the game. The Mikonite only used this skill when its hp was about 10%, and this technique, if it hit, was unavoidable as it was animation locked. It was nicknamed the One-Inch-Punch as the technique took its visuals from a famous martial artist’s coolest attack, and had an effect that no matter the effect, defense or resistance of a character, even with invincibility active, this punch could and would kill its target.
‘Well it’s time for some Overlord skill casting’ I said to myself, dusting off virtual particles from my gi. I stood, legs spread apart in fists clenched and arms folded to my body. I crouched and began the activation of my Ki.

As I kept activating and unlocking both sides of the Dao mantra simultaneously, I could feel my heart rate increase, as I looked at my Heart rate detection meter, and it was off the charts. I could almost feel the Ki surging in my veins, as both golden and dark energy pulsated around my dark scales, surrounding me like a flame. I then saw a Ring over my back as large as a hula-hoop-like-halo; half of it permeated Holy energy whilst the other half emitted dark energy. What I had done wasn’t new, but it was game breaking.
You see the active racial skill of the Void Drakeling, also known as Cursed of Ashkanar, had an effect whereby a character could change its Moral Archetype from good to evil, in order to use skills belonging to evil archetypes. This was mostly used by Paladins [from Oathkeeper Knights that wielded Holy Magic to Oathbreaker Knights who had gone against their holy oaths and wielded Abyssal Magic] and some mages and clerics in order to unlock a plethora of Abyssal skills. It wasn’t as if Abyssal magic was illegal, as Dark Priests, Unholy Magi and Oathbreaker knights were actual classes; but these classes were locked to their particular archetype, giving players the opportunity to make different decisions depending on their archetype.
Now, it could only be used by Void Drakelings, and as such wasn’t a popular mechanic, as even though Drakelings had melee damage and could use spells, their racial growth was mediocre at best. No one used Drakelings for pure Magic Damage builds… they were almost technically the worst class. Whether it was idiocy or pure luck I picked Drakeling, and Void type, I would never know.
Now when I had finished Assimilating my Ki, I looked at my stat block for changes, hoping the bug worked. And what I saw put a large grin on my face…
Monkeismash2012
HP: 0001/9999(+999) MP: ---/---
KI:???????/500(+???????)
LEVEL: Error; stack overflow
SKILL LEVEL
Monk: Error
Druid: 999
Rise of the Phoenix Active: 0 charges Left
Sanctuary: Active 1 min(s) left
Now I've done it!!! I grinned at myself. It was exactly as I and Abraham had calculated. The game wouldn’t understand why I had 2 archetype techniques active at the same time and so my stats would bug out for the duration of the curse. This technique was only game breaking for the monk class, as Ki didn’t have the restrictions that mana had. It wasn’t as flexible to use as mana, but it couldn’t be affected by status effects. Using this logic, we assumed it wouldn’t have the same restriction whereby mages could only use magic related to the current archetype, even if they changed archetypes. But for monks, that didn’t exist. I order to keep this secret from been leaked, me and Braum swore an oath never to use it or reveal its busted usage until it would be patched out of existence.
Now I was almost done, I activated path of the Celestial Monkey, and suddenly, I felt this pressure bearing down on me like a riptide wave, the atmosphere around me felt cold, as my brain began to scream at me to hide. It was then I looked outside the crack in reality of the sanctuary to see a large blue eye, shimmering with flecks of holy light looking directly at me.
It was the right eye of The ENTITY…
I shuddered as it looked through the reality crack, and with a solemn voice, spoke from an orifice that seemed to be its mouth…
“You, who hast thought to escape the wrath of god, shall the stone fall on you, or shall you fall upon the stone?”
Its words felt like knife had been stabbed through me. Its left eye emanating more evil aura than I had anticipated. But I knew I was safe in the sanctuary, right?
WRRRRROOONGGG!!!
It stretched forth its death ridden hand, and literally, ripped the space-time barrier between us, like a curtain, and destroyed the sanctuary entirely.
I fell out to the ground, or what was left of the burning lava pit, and from here I could see the destruction of Orion full scale. IT WAS HELL!!!
LITERALLY!!!
No life in sight, flames, lava and brimstone pouring out from every crevice it could squirm its way out from, the northern wall was nothing more than melting rubble, and instead of smoke flowing upwards, it was all codes in 1’s and 0’s. Orion Online was on its last legs.
If it all was going to end, then the rules didn’t matter anymore; all that mattered now was how I was going to brag to the outside world about how I may or may not have killed a godlike boss. Paul was going to be jealous, and he owed me a hundred bucks for out-surviving him.
“Be ye removed and be cast into the sea” went the calm voice of THE ENTITY as a wave of energy, in 1’s and 0’s accumulated in his palm, pointing that energy to me.
I looked up at the god in front of me, noticing as it opened a 3rd eye in the middle of its forehead, a green eye that emitted more energy than the rest. All its eyes then bore down on me, increasing the gravity around me and trying to choke me with its deadly aura, but now I was in this state, I was immune to it.
“Celestial Monkey Technique, Monkey see Monkey Do!!!” I said, as an aura surged into the palm of my right hand, coursing through my fist. The same code of 1’s and 0’s emanating from it. Now I was ready, ready to see if I could break the game or not, ready to become a legend if I pulled this off successfully. I looked at its 3rd green eye and decided to strike there; I had one shot after all.
In that instant, I made up my mind to use Shunpo to get in range, hoping I wouldn’t need to double jump, as I wasn’t too sure how strong I was. I put my foot on the ground, and suddenly, it caved in, creating a large crater of lava, spewing coded ash into the air. Immediately, I was directly in front of the eye; and that was when I noticed it.
In that instant of movement, I looked behind me for some reason. What I saw shook me. It was an after image of me; but what was bizarre was the image also looked back, it felt I was I looking at a mirror. I reached out to touch this afterimage and surprisingly enough, it reached out to touch me. Our palms met and I could feel the warmth in his hand. It was like my past, present and future existed in one place. Time itself was frozen, as I turned to face THE ENTITY, who didn’t seem to notice or react to my movements. It was then a grin escaped my lips
I had finally broken the Game… Omnipresence!!!
I was already at the face of the large green eye, looking at it as it shimmered emerald color, cool and subtle energy humming from it. For some reason I felt calmed by it, like it wasn’t even there. I placed the index and ring finger of the energy pack hand, readying the skill to destroy this thing once and for all…
“Touch not my anointed and do…” The god was to say, but I instantly brought my fist to a close, performing a punch with smallest spaced margins, the famous One-Inch-Punch…
That instant
That moment
Before, Now and Soon after
The Green eye and the god that wore it on its face…
…VANISHED…
Or should I say
Was DELETED…
And so was I soon after, for not only had I destroyed a god, but deleted Orion Online from the face of existence…
‘POG!!! And Whoops!’ I said to myself, as I floated in the endless space of the Internet Netcode
It was then I felt a sudden pain in my chest, like my heart and lungs were burning up, or more precisely, been ripped out of my ribcage. My limbs almost felt slack and I felt faint. In a world of 1’s and 0’s I decided it was time for me to leave and so I pulled out my control console. But it never showed up. I tried again, and again, and again; but nothing happened. I was scared now.
I looked at my stat bar and saw my heart rate skyrocketing… this was bad for my body IRL. I needed to log out fast. I used the only thing I could remember and was able to muster the words:
“System command, RayGear force trouble shoot, initiate log out now”
I waited for a few seconds, nothing happened
“System Command, RayGear module forced shutdown now goddammit” this time, the pain had shot up, like I had made it worse.
‘What the hell is happening to my RayGear?’ I thought to myself, but then the burning sensation only rose more. I almost could feel my brain fry. I was floating in data space but I went on my knees on an unseen floor, and began gasping for air. Something was happening to my Dive equipment, and it was killing me.
‘I looked ahead of me and saw a cool emerald green dim not too far away from me, its origins I couldn’t tell, but I reached out o grasp it. It seemed to respond to me as it suddenly raced to my location, becoming brighter but more ‘Soothing’. 2 other lights, a blue one and a Red one followed beside it. Blinking and emitting both a holy and heavy aura.
It was then I realized
‘Could it be the eyes of THE ENTITY?’
I reached out for the green eye and grasped at it. Holding it firmly and bringing it to my burning chest. It felt warm, even through all the pain, immediately I did this, the remaining two eyes suddenly, dashed away into the vast ends of Net space, disappearing.
I looked at the green eye in my hand, or what was left of it. That was when I saw myself decaying
“No, what the hell, there’s no way I die here!!!” cried I. this couldn’t be how I died. I hadn’t even gotten married goddammit. Slowly my body decayed, broke down, until all that was left was my face. It was then the eye began to glow ever so brightly, a calm melody erupted with the cacophony of soft cries in the background. I could taste my fear now, and I could feel myself fade away…
Slowly!
SLOWLY!!
SLOWLY!!!
Until I was nothing…
I Had Died…
