Summer vacation starts from July 20th.
７月２０日から夏休み
Unfortunately, whenever I ran into Devil,
不幸にしてデビルに出くわすたびに
I was blackmailed
ぼくは恐喝された
and with the higher interest,
そしてあいつのでたらめな金利で
the amount claimed increased with surprising speed.
恐喝されたお金はものすごい速さで増え
In fact, it increased to 30,000yen!
実際それは３万円に！
And on one day,
そしてある日
I ran into him near Octopus Park.
ぼくはタコ公園の近くでデビルに出くわした
And it was the beginning of the bad luck.
そしてそれが不幸の始まりだった
He was accompanied by several sidekicks.
やつは子分を従えていて
I was surrounded by them
ぼくはやつらに取り囲まれ
and cornered near the ‘Octopus slide’.
タコ滑り台に追い詰められた
I really was trapped.
もはやぼくは囚われの身
Then Devil told me to pay the amount claimed
それからデビルは金を払えと言った
by the next day
次の日までに
or I would be beaten to ‘half to death’
さもなければ半殺しという
and he hit me three times in the face
そしてぼくの顔を３発殴り
and kicked me in the stomach once,
お腹を１発蹴り
and said,
そして言った
“This is for some of the interest!”
いまのパンチは利子の一部にしてやる！
And he told me to bring 30,000 yen
そしてちょうど３万円にまけてやるから持ってこいと
to the ‘Octopus slide’ by 3:00pm the next day,
タコ滑り台に明日までに
then, hit me badly in the face once again.
それからぼくの顔を一度酷く殴った
And after that, he said
そしてやつは言った
he would account the last punch as part of the interest
最後の一発も利子の一部にしてやる
and permitted me to postpone the payment
そう言って支払猶予を許してくれた
for two days
２日間
since he was going on a short trip.
やつが旅行に出るからだって
Anyhow, I had been forced to bring 30,000 yen at 3:00pm in 3 days time.

His accident had nothing to do with me!

Then after making sure that Doc was at home with the walky-talky he’d invented,
それからぼくはケイタイ無線機で、茶トラ先生がいることを確認し
I went to his laboratory
茶トラ先生のところへ行き
to ask for help.
茶トラ先生に泣きついた
There he was doing an experiment
そのとき茶トラ先生は実験中だった
with a light source, several mirrors and a detector on a small pool of Mercury.
光源と何枚かの鏡と検出器を水銀のプールに乗せて
“I was reproducing the famous Michelson-Morley experiment.
わしは今、あの有名な、マイケルソンーモーレイの実験を再現しておったのだ
We can detect the wind of aether and…”
これでエーテルの風を検出出来、そして…
“Hey Doc, lend me 30,000 yen!”
