Epilogue
After the celebrations from game die down, Junto meets up with the others on the top floor of the arena. Kimiko is the first to comment.
“Wow, Junto. I knew I was right to put my faith in you.”
Kosei comments of the excitement of the game.
“That was one of the most exciting matches I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see if you can reach even new heights, Junto.”
Genki wonders about the next step.
“Well, now that Azuma is out of the way for now, what’s the next step?”
Junto looks menacing as he says his next words.
“Nobody can reach rank 100. We have to stop them all.”
Kimiko is amazed as she comments.
“Of course! This way, we can stop anyone from getting that nasty power.”
Genki shrugs his shoulders.
“If that’s how you feel, then I’ll stand with you.”
Taisei seems to disagree.
“Hmph.”
Junto looks at Taisei.
“I won’t be a part of this. I refuse to keep the treasure of rank 100 unobtainable. I will see this game to the end. Even if it means that we are now enemies.”
Taisei begins to walk away. Kosei then comments.
“What he said, goes for me too. I look forward to our battles, Junto.”
Kosei then also begins to walk away.
Later that day.
The streets are dark outside and the alleys are empty. Azuma Koyama wanders the streets alone with a bottle of vodka in his hand. A vision of Fuyuki suddenly appears to him.
“Fuyuki!”
The vision begins to walk away.
“Wait, Fuyuki! I won’t fail you again! I promise!”
Azuma tries to chase after it but falls over. As Azuma Koyama falls over, his mobile phone falls from his pocket and slides across the ground. The screen lights up for a second. A text has appeared.
‘It’s my tenth birthday today, I’m just wondering if you remembered our plans, big bro.’
Azuma stands up but forgets to grab his phone and starts to walk away. Azuma walks into the distance. As Azuma walks away, he begins to fade away until nothing remains.
Seven years later…
A teen sits at in the family home surrounded by crying members of his family. It’s clear that this is a wake for Azuma Koyama.
The teen boy heads upstairs and enters Azuma’s old room.
“What the hell, huh. You threw your life away drinking and now I’m supposed to feel bad about it.”
The teen looks at a pack of cards and a book sitting on a box.
“You’ve always cared about those stupid cards more than me. You never even told me what they were.”
The teen picks up the cards and goes to throw them across the room but notices writing on the box.
‘Fuyuki, Hiroki.’
The teen turns the box around.
‘A master who failed both his students.’
The teen opens the pack of cards and pulls the first card out of it.
“What the hell is this?”
The teen instinctively opens the book that is sitting on the cardboard box.
His eyes widen as he begins to reads all about the journey of Azuma Koyama and the card game known as Killjoy. The boy grabs the cards and the book.
‘My name is Shinji Koyama. I never understood why my older brother threw his life away. But with this book, I finally understand some of his pain.’
Shinji leaves the room with a determined look on his face.
‘I’m going to fulfil my late brothers dream. I will be the first person to reach rank 100.’
And so, a new era of Killjoy begins…
