[Chapter 1] - 4 Promotions
Decorating the uniforms of those before him were various medals awarded from elective training. Too stitched onto sleeves were an assortment of ranks, a significant portion of 12th platoon's 30 members being NCOs. However, not an officer to be seen amongst the ranks, take for the Captain and his aide.
His job was simple, almost too much so. Likely simpler than others of his rank. Sign papers, read emails, walk around the base to appear busy, teach specific lectures, and oversee most tasks regarding the Mobile Mechanized Division. Essentially Tsuiki's resident armor expert, which would usually be reserved for mechanized officers of the Commodore rank.
Namely, this was Shigure's problem with his current assignment. He was practically reduced to a living example and recount of deployment against the Nephilim. Of course, there was still a war to be fought, so by no means are those who've faced combat rare. But those missions are almost guaranteed to be area denial or peacekeeping strictly with the Absolute Defence Zone. He was one of the few Operators not permanently on the frontlines, one of the few ordered to train others.
Even if many soldiers are utterly clueless about the battlefield, they are still trained in their respective positions. A marksman can shoot, a radio operator can operate a radio, and vehicle crews can operate their vehicles.
