The curse for Hassan's sin was sent
宮殿を墓に変えるべく。
来ては去ること砂嵐の熱風、
破滅と憂欝の先触れのよう、
To turn a palace to a tomb:
He came, he went, like the Simoom,
That harbinger of fate and gloom,
皎々と荒廃齎す吐息の元には
糸杉の木でさえ枯れ果てた……
Beneath whose widely - wasting breath
The very cypress droops to death -
他の者が忘れて猶も哀しむ陰気な樹が、
唯一人変わらず死者を見守る喪主が！
Dark tree, still sad when others' grief is fled,
The only constant mourner o'er the dead!
Hassan:敵役ハッサンの名は唐突にここで登場し、何の説明もない。この名は『ヴァテック』に、10年も航海に出たアリ・ハッサン Ali Hassan として出てくる。
cypress:糸杉。伐ると二度と生えない、また棺の材料に使われた事から、喪の象徴
