II. Two queens stand chatting together at the top of Three-Months Tower.
As Sun, the King told, Queen of Summer and Queen of Autumn were out to see the others.
First, I will talk about Queen of Summer. She arrived Three-Months Tower. It is the highest tower in Land of Year Rounding. A queen stays there and bring her season for three months.
After that, the next queen comes to the tower and change the season.
Queen of Summer took an amber ladder from her carriage. The regular name of the ladder is “Amber Ladder for Climbers”. Now, this is not so important fact.
The ladder was shorter than the queen’s arm for the beginning, The queen stood it against the wall of the tower. Then, look, the ladder got longer and longer, and it reached the top of the tower in no time.
Queen of Summer climbed the ladder lightly as a hare. You may think a queen do not climb a ladder, I know. Yet, the ladder is a special. It is Queen of Summer’s precious thing for going up the tower. She never gets bored or tired, and she goes up as high as she wants.
Needless to say, the other queens have each precious thing. I will talk about them by order in this story.
Now, Queen of Summer had arrived such a high place while my explanation. She knocked a window of Queen of Winter’s room.
“Who are you? A goose or boots?”
Queen of Winter opened the window and said.
“Neither is here, This is Summer!” Queen of Summer replied. Snow grains tapped her cheeks.
“Oh, my dear Summer! Did you pass my dear Spring?”
“According to your words, my dear Spring has not come here yet. By the way, how long have this coldness been staying?”
Queen of Winter tilted her head and counted with her fingers.
“Well, I changed my dear Autumn at the end of November. Then, December, January, and several months passed. And now, April is coming―”
“To summerize, a little longer than four months!“
Queen of summer called out with chatting teeth. The slight sunbeams poured down through lifts in the thick clouds.
“Forgive me for saying so, but can you weak the coldness? The ground is all white, you know.”
“I’m afraid, my dear”, Queen of Winter shrugged her shoulders.
“The only answer I can tell, You must walk around. On your way, please bring my dear Spring here.”
“No way!”
Queen of Summer had the shivers.
“I came from all the way from my land. Do I have to find my dear Spring furthermore?”
Queen of Winter said to her with apologetic look.
“I’m sorry, I will let my reindeer use. I tell you the recipe of bread in addition. So, please, take my dear Spring here.”
In response to the words of Queen of Winter, Inner Winker Reindeer came from the interior of the room.
As your expectation, it is a precious thing of Queen of Winter. She rides the reindeer and gets to the top of Three-Months Tower in a leap.
“How nice to meet you, dear reindeer.”
Queen of Summer greeted it courteously. The reindeer was blinking its eyes behind Queen of Winter.
Queen of Winter began to explain how to bake bread.
“First, you crack and beat a leg-egg. Then, sift flour like shower. And, that is it, butter is vital. Beard butter, bitter as beer. Knead them all, bake it brown. Then, you can have palatable bread.”
“Wait, wait! Lovely Winter!”
Queen of Summer raised her hand and stopped the rapid talking.
“Please do not speak all at once! I cannot make out it. Will you summerize that steps?”
Queen of Winter whispered.
“Egg, flour, and butter. You just mix and bake all of them.”
Just at that moment, a dancing green leaf came from nowhere apparent.
“Thank you, I got it!”
Queen of Summer climbed down the ladder airily. Soon after, the winker reindeer alighted from the window.
“Okay, now departing! Oh, just a moment, I remember. My lovely Autumn is probably on the way toward my dear Spring. Well then, I bake bread while waiting!”
Queen of Summer shrank the ladder and loaded the carriage. After that, she harnessed the reindeer among horses.
The reindeer took fright at the crack of a whip and took flight into the sky.
Queen of Summer, her retainers, and the amber ladder flew through the silver snow.
