第6話 ドタバタ！テレポート大騒動（The Teleportation Tangle!）
それは科学も魔法もある、こことは別の世界。
This is a world where both science and magic exist, a world different from ours.
今日の魔法学校の授業は、色々な場所へ行くための「移動の魔法」です。
Today's class at the magic school is about "transportation magic" to go to various places.
ジャックスは「足が速くなる魔法」を習って、ものすごいスピードで学校の周りを走り回っています。
Jax learned a "super-speed spell" and is running around the school at an incredible speed.
「おーいドット！ この魔法、最こ（ビューン！）……ぜ！」
"Hey Dot! This spell is the grea... (Zoom!) ...est!"
あまりに速すぎて、通り過ぎる時に何を言っているのかよく聞き取れません。
He was so fast that she couldn't really hear what he was saying as he passed by.
一方、ガスはフワフワの「綿あめ雲」に乗ってゆっくり空を飛んでいますが……。
Meanwhile, Gus was flying slowly on a fluffy "cotton candy cloud", but…
「モグモグ……甘くて美味しいなぁ。あ、あれ？」
"Munch, munch... This is sweet and delicious. Oh, wait?"
飛びながら自分の雲を食べてしまうので、高く飛ぶ前にポスンと落ちてしまいました。
Because he ate his own cloud while flying, he fell down with a "Plop" before he could fly high.
そして、ドットが挑戦するのは「テレポート」の魔法です。
And Dot was attempting "teleportation" magic.
「よーし、学校の屋根の上にテレポートするぞ！ 魔法まぜまぜ、あっちへゴー！ エイッ！」
"Alright, I'm going to teleport to the school roof! Magic Mix, Go Over There! Yah!"
ドットが杖を振ると、ボフンと白い煙に包まれました。しかし、着いた場所は屋根ではなく……。
Dot waved her wand and was enveloped in a puff of white smoke. However, the place she arrived wasn't the roof, but…
ドボーン！
Splash!
「ひゃあ！ 冷たい！」
"Yikes! It's cold!"
なんと、学校の池の上にテレポートして、水の中に落下してしまいました。
To her surprise, she teleported right above the school pond and fell into the water.
「もう一回！ 今度は近くの公園へ……エイッ！」
"One more time! Now to the nearby park... Yah!"
ドボーン！！
Splash!!
何度やっても、行き先は必ず学校の池になってしまいます。
No matter how many times she tried, her destination always ended up being the school pond.
それを見ていた先生は、今日もあきれた顔で言いました。
The teacher, watching this, said with an exasperated look again today.
「ドット、テレポートの宿題を出します。次までに練習してきなさい」
"Dot, I'm giving you teleportation homework. Practice it for next time."
「はーい……」
"Okay..."
ずぶ濡れのまま家に帰ったドットは、いつものように博士に相談します。
Going home soaking wet, Dot consulted Doc as usual.
「ハハハ！ 魔法でテレポートできないなら、これを使えばいい！ 最新発明『ジャンプスーツ』だ！」
"Ha ha ha! If you can't teleport with magic, just use this! My latest invention: The Jump Suit!"
それは、頭にアンテナが付いた不思議なスーツでした。
It was a mysterious suit with an antenna on its head.
「腰についているリモコンを外して、行き先を選んでスイッチを押すだけさ。あっという間にどこへでもテレポートできるぞ！」
"Just detach the remote control on your waist, select your destination, and press the switch. You can teleport anywhere in an instant!"
「わあ、すごい！ 博士、ありがとう！」
"Wow, amazing! Thank you, Doc!"
ドットは大喜びでスーツを着ると、まずは学校にテレポートして、まだ遊んでいたジャックスとガスに自慢しました。
Dot joyfully put on the suit, first teleported to the school, and showed it off to Jax and Gus who were still playing there.
それから、お菓子屋さんの厨房にテレポートして出来立てのクッキーをつまみ食いしたり……。
Then, she teleported to a candy shop's kitchen and sneaked some freshly baked cookies…
今度は、南国の砂浜にテレポートして、パラソルの下で冷たいパイナップルジュースを飲みました。
Next, she teleported to a tropical beach and drank cold pineapple juice under a parasol.
「あー、最高！ 魔法なんていらないね」
"Ah, this is the best! I don't need magic."
しかし、暖かい日差しの中でドットが少しウトウトしていると、一匹の犬が近づいてきます。
However, while Dot was dozing off a bit in the warm sunshine, a dog approached.
そしてクンクンと匂いを嗅いだ犬は、なんとドットのリモコンを口にくわえて走り出してしまったのです！
The dog sniffed it, and to her surprise, grabbed Dot's remote control in its mouth and ran off!
「ああっ！ ちょっと待って、それを返し……！」
"Ah! Wait a minute, give that ba...!"
ドットが慌てて追いかけようとしたその時、犬の歯がリモコンのボタンを押してしまいました。
Just as Dot hurriedly tried to chase it, the dog's teeth pressed a button on the remote control.
ボフン！
Puff!
「……さむーっ！！」
"...It's freeeezing!!"
ドットがテレポートしたのは、吹雪が吹き荒れる雪山の頂上です！
Dot teleported to the peak of a snowy mountain with a raging blizzard!
さらに犬がボタンを押すたびに、ドットの行き先は次々と変わっていきます。
Every time the dog pressed the button, Dot's destination changed one after another.
「ヒィィ！ 海賊船だ！ 襲われるー！」
"Eek! A pirate ship! I'm going to be attacked!"
「ここはどこ！？ 地下迷宮！？ 出口がわからないよー！」
"Where am I!? An underground maze!? I don't know the way out!"
大変な目に遭いながら、一瞬だけ、ドットは学校にテレポートしました。
While going through these terrible experiences, for just a brief moment, Dot teleported to the school.
「ジャックス！ ガス！ 助け……！」
"Jax! Gus! Hel...!"
しかし、言い終わる前にまたどこかへテレポートしてしまいます。
However, before she could finish speaking, she teleported away somewhere again.
それを見たジャックスは、足が速くなる魔法を使って、ものすごいスピードで博士の研究所へ駆け込みました。
Seeing that, Jax used his super-speed magic and rushed into Doc's lab at an incredible speed.
「博士！ ドットが大変なんだ！」
"Doc! Dot is in big trouble!"
「なんだって！？ よし、通信端末でジャンプスーツに連絡だ！」
"What!? Alright, I'll contact the Jump Suit via the communication terminal!"
迷宮をさまよっていたドットの耳に、博士の声が聞こえてきました。
Doc's voice reached Dot's ears as she wandered through the maze.
『ドット！ 頭のアンテナを折るんだ！ そうすればテレポートは止まる！』
"Dot! Break the antenna on your head! That will stop the teleportation!"
「アンテナを折るのね！ わかった！」
"Break the antenna! Got it!"
ドットは次に知っている街の景色が見えたタイミングで、思い切って頭のアンテナをポキッと折りました。
Dot boldly snapped the antenna on her head the moment she saw the scenery of her familiar town next.
すると、テレポートは無事に止まります。
Then, the teleportation successfully stopped.
ですが……。
But…
「ふぅ、助かった……。あれ？ ここ、どこ？」
"Phew, I'm saved... Wait? Where is this?"
周りを見ると、そこはとても背の高い木のてっぺんでした。
Looking around, she found herself at the very top of a very tall tree.
「た、高すぎて降りられないよ〜！ 博士、助けて！」
"I-It's too high to get down~! Doc, help me!"
『すぐ助けを向かわせるから、そこで待っているんだ！』
"I'll send help right away, so wait there!"
博士の言葉を信じて、ドットが涙をこらえながら待っていると……。
Believing Doc's words, as Dot waited while holding back tears…
「ドットー、お待たせー」
"Dot~, sorry to keep you waiting~"
おっとりとした声と一緒に、フワフワの綿あめ雲に乗ったガスが下からゆっくりと上がってきました。
Along with a slow, calm voice, Gus slowly rose from below, riding his fluffy cotton candy cloud.
「ガス！ 助けに来てくれたの！？」
"Gus! You came to help me!?"
「うん。でも僕の雲じゃ、二人を乗せたら重くて落ちちゃうよ。だから……」
"Yeah. But with my cloud, if it carries two people, it'll be too heavy and we'll fall. So..."
ガスはドットの杖を指さします。
Gus pointed at Dot's wand.
「テレポートの魔法を使えばいいんじゃない？ きっといつもの場所に行けるよ」
"Why don't you use your teleportation magic? I'm sure it'll take you to the usual place."
「あ！……そうか、あそこなら安全だわ！」
"Ah! ...That's right, it's safe there!"
ドットは大きく頷き、杖を振りました。
Dot nodded enthusiastically and waved her wand.
「魔法まぜまぜ、学校へゴー！ エイッ！」
"Magic Mix, Go to School! Yah!"
ボフン！ と煙が上がり、ドットがテレポートした先は、もちろん……。
With a puff of smoke, the place Dot teleported to was, of course…
ドボーン！！！
Splash!!!
いつもの学校の池でした。
It was the usual school pond.
ずぶ濡れになったドットは、池のそばで待っていたジャックスとガスに引き上げられます。
Soaking wet, Dot was pulled up by Jax and Gus, who were waiting by the pond.
「ハハハ！ やっぱり最後はそこなんだな！」
"Ha ha ha! So it ends up there after all!"
「ドットが無事でよかったよ。さあ、帰ろう」
"I'm glad you're safe, Dot. Come on, let's go home."
ジャックスとガスに連れられながら、ドットは夕暮れの道を歩きます。
Accompanied by Jax and Gus, Dot walked along the twilight path.
大切なのは、あっという間に遠くへ行けるテレポートじゃなくて、いつでも助けに来てくれる友達の存在だったんですね。
The important thing wasn't teleportation that can take you far away in an instant, but the presence of friends who will always come to help you.
