Chapter 3 Words of Possession
Seeing the frightened hat, Kailey thought, 'Could it be this hat is the voice?' with this crossing her mind, she desperately shouted, "I shall take you... I will study you!" As these words rang out in the laboratory, the hat started backing away even more fiercely in fear, as if it had found a predator. "Hold on, wait a second, little girl. You do not understand the power behind these words of possession," the hat said in trepidation.
"Words of possession?" Kailey said quizzically.
"Words of possession is a form of contract that is only usable on special legendary grade and above tools or objects that have souls trapped inside them. Furthermore, tools with words of possession placed on them cause any miscreants who try to wield an object other than the contracted one will receive retributions. The tools may smite them, leaving them with permanent scarring, or even dismember their limbs," The hat said while responding to Kailey's question.
"Woah, that's some serious punishment," Kailey said with a slight tinge of fear in her voice.
"Indeed."
"So what must I do to use these words of possession?" Kailey dumbly asked but to her surprise the hat answered her question.
"Forcefully speak in a way that makes it clear to any beings surrounding the object you wish to possess, said object."
After a few seconds, the hat realized it was revealing how to use the words of possession. Then the hat understood it had made a terrible mistake. But even so, it would gladly live with this decision.
"Heh, so I only need to say something like, 'Oh deities and beings us mortals can not comprehend, I shall take over the previous owner's will, so shall this object before me become mine until the day my soul no longer lingers in rebirth."
As Kailey jokingly spoke aloud the words of possession, the area around the witch hat started glowing with spiritual essence, causing the soul of the hat to emerge. Sensing danger, the hat swiftly moved to stand in front of Kailey. It didn't want to be mistaken as a soul without a vessel by the hellhounds sent to retrieve lost souls. Suddenly, Kailey's soul quickly shot out from her body to meet with the soul of the witch hat, providing a sanctuary for the fleeing soul. Kailey's soul rapidly constructed a temporary dwelling for the hat's soul. As Kailey's soul finished creating the dwelling, the soul of the hat impatiently entered Kailey's soul.
