"This can't be right," Aleshia exclaimed in panic as she flipped through the pages, noticing that the page numbers differed each time. Her anxiety only worsened until Lucia gently soothed her and calmed her down.
"It's alright, Aleshia. It doesn't matter if the pages are random; it just means we have an equal, if not better, chance of finding another spell to use instead of the one we were aiming for," Lucia reassured her while stroking Aleshia's hair.
"Right," Aleshia responded, beginning to see the situation differently. She slowly relaxed her grip on the book and enjoyed Lucia's touch.
After taking some deep breaths guided by Lucia, Aleshia felt calmer. Once she composed herself, she opened the book again and was stunned by the words she saw on the page.
"Hey, why don't you look at that?" Lucia remarked smugly, pointing directly at the spell "Dispell Malignancy." "It looks like not sweating the small stuff helped, didn't it?"
"Yeah, it did," Aleshia replied, astonished.
After finding the necessary spell, Lucia and Aleshia studied it thoroughly. After several hours of rigorous review, they finally began testing the spell on their patients. Lucia left Aleshia and hopped onto the test subject. She then synchronized with the subject's body, gaining a clear understanding of their condition. "Whew, that feels terrible," Lucia remarked, expressing her displeasure directly in Aleshia's mind.
Aleshia hovered her hand over the patient's body and connected with Lucia to assist. Lucia then initiated the spell, laying down the foundational elements, while Aleshia joined in as an assistant, contributing her knowledge to enhance the spell's foundations. Continuing with the spell, Lucia took on the more challenging tasks while Aleshia handled the simpler ones. As they progressed, Lucia started to delegate the more difficult responsibilities to Aleshia, enabling her to focus on the essential elements of the spell.
After a while, Aleshia felt exhausted and slowly withdrew, gently severing her connection and leaving only a faint trace of her mana. Meanwhile, Lucia continued her work. When Aleshia looked at the patient, she noticed that their expression showed much less pain, and their complexion appeared significantly healthier.
Content with her progress, Aleshia settled on the floor to rest. As she waited for her mana to replenish, she watched Lucia's technique in action. Aleshia closely observed how Lucia manipulated her mana, noting the minor adjustments she had made to the spell. She found the way Lucia used her mana both surprising and intriguing.
