Chapter 13 Your Name?
Feeling panicked, Kailey tried various methods to return to her body. She tried to merge with it and even wrapped herself up with her body, but that didn't work. After hundreds of failed attempts, Kailey began feeling apathetic. Kailey's last hope was to attempt to create an opening to enter her body. She brought her hands as high as she could and swung them down with every ounce of her strength. However, the motion was futile because she still couldn't even touch her body. With that last action, she became depressed.
The disappointment of hundreds of failed attempts left Kailey feeling frustrated and on the verge of giving up. She let herself drift in the air, limp and dispirited. Suddenly, a thought struck her: 'Why did my soul leave my body? Why did my entire body feel like someone was using a dull knife to skin the pelt of a dead animal? Surely something was left behind during that process!' With this thought in mind, Kailey gained a new vigor, deciding to search for what her soul might have left behind during her ordeal.
Seeing herself some distance away from her physical body, Kailey began to fly back towards it. After a while flight, she returned to the area with the table and chairs. She saw the teacher completely engrossed in examining the object in her hand. Kailey instinctively realized that it was a fragment of her soul. Confused, she descended from the air to greet the teacher, wanting to know what the teacher had found about the soul fragment. As Kailey descended from the air, the teacher finished her inspection. When she looked up and stretched her neck, she was surprised to see Kailey land before her eyes, startling her. The teacher then expressed her annoyance at being surprised without any warning.
While Kailey was taking the brunt of her hostility, she tried to dissuade the teacher's anger, "Do you mind if I ask what your name is?" With this question in the air, the teacher finally calmed down enough to disclose her name. "I am Aleshia, a magician who wields the powers of the elements - an Elemental Witch, you could say. Since I have introduced myself, what is your name, little miss?"
Surprised by Aleshia wanting to know her name, Kailey proudly proclaimed, I am Kailey, an apprentice witch. I was cursed when I was born by a person who was presumably pursuing immortality!"
