Chapter Seven The Last War
“Hey, why don’t we stop going to Wonder Egg 7?” Minami suggested.
“What!” Hideki and Ayaka exclaimed, their eyes wide.
“You’re the one who was most excited.” Ayaka said.
“It’s such a nice weather. And we’re going to celebrate my birthday, right?” Hideki said.
“Minami, are you not feeling well? Why don’t you stay at home?” Naoko said.
“Okay, okay, I’ll go.” Minami said, glaring at Naoko.
It was Christmas Eve and Minami, Hideki, Ayaka, Naoko, Ai, Chiharu and Makoto were going to an amusement park called Wonder Egg 7.
Minami desperately wanted to stop Chiharu. However, even if Minami told the police about Chiharu, nobody would believe her. She had to wait for Chiharu’s next action.
For a while, the seven played normally. They went on the rollercoaster, coffee cup and pirates. Chiharu was quiet as usual, but there seemed to be nothing wrong with her. 'Was it all my overestimation?' Minami thought as she watched Chiharu.
But an incident occurred after Hideki said, “Let’s go to the Egg House!”
The Egg House was an egg-shaped house with three rooms in it. The haunted house, the fortune house and the mirror house. First, they entered the fortune room.
The fortune-teller told Minami that she was going to make an important decision and her life was going to depend on it. 'Don’t say such an ominous thing,' Minami thought.
Next, they went into the haunted house. They screamed wildly as they came out of it.
“It was so fun.” Ayaka said, laughing.
“Let’s go on that rollercoaster next!” Hideki said, pointing at it.
At that moment, the rollercoaster stopped. The screaming in the Egg House rose. All the rides had stopped, and the lights had gone out. There was no sound.
“Hey, where is Chiharu?” Ai asked.
“Chiharu is not here!” Makoto shouted.
What! Minami looked around and found a figure dressed in black, with a gun, standing at the opposite end of the Egg House.
“Look out!” There was the sound of a gun being shot before Minami’s shouting.
The next moment, Makoto was shot in the shoulder. The criminal ran into the mirror house of the Egg House.
Minami ran after the criminal.
“Minami!” Hideki shouted, but Minami didn’t look back.
When Minami went into the mirror house, for a while, it was a single road. Minami kept on running. Then the road parted in two. 'Which should I choose?' If she didn’t go into the same road as the criminal... Minami felt this may be what the fortune-teller said before about the important decision.
She didn’t have much time, so she entered the left road.
For a while, she could only see herself. Then the mirror in front of her broke. In the broken mirror, there was a black person standing. Minami turned around and saw Chiharu in black with her sunglasses taken off. She was holding the gun and aiming at Minami.
For some time, they just stared at eachother, their breath restless.
“It was you, wasn’t it?”
Chiharu had an evil smile on her face
“I found out about you this morning. About the wall in your room and your parents.”
Chiharu trembled and was about to shoot-
“You!” Somebody tackled at Chiharu from behind. It was Hideki. Hideki tried to get hold of Chiharu’s hand which had the gun, but Chiharu kept shooting in Minami’s direction.
BAM! BAM! The mirrors crackled. Minami ran foward, dodging through the shots with her excellent athletic skills, and kicked Chiharu’s hand. The gun went flying.
Naoko and Ayaka came running in and they all held down Chiharu, who was moving about furiously.
Soon, the police arrived and concluded that Chiharu was the killer in all cases. Mr. Aiba and Mr. Yasuzaka were released. Chiharu got arrested and was going to jail.
Her motive was to take revenge of her parents. She killed the MILKYWAY president Yohei Kobayashi and his wife Saori Kobayashi and the board member Daisuke Fujino and the vise president Keisuke Yasuda, and even tried to kill the president’s child and her boyfriend Makoto...
Makoto watched Chiharu getting taken away by the police, with tears coming out of his eyes. Chiharu glanced at Makoto for a second but quickly averted her eyes from his.
'Love and betrayal are so close,' Minami thought.
“Makoto, I know its going to be hard to forget about her-” Minami tried to encourage Makoto but ended up crying herself.
Ai, who was Chiharu’s friend, was also crying.
“I can’t believe that such thing happened on my birthday...” Hideki said.
“Well, tomorrow is Minami’s birthday, so let’s celebrate.” Ayaka said.
“I’ll be going home today,” Naoko said.
“Really!? We’re going home tomorrow.” Minami said.
“I’m going to Shanghai.”
“Oh really...”
“By the way, Minami, you were kind of cool today.”
“Thanks...” Minami felt a bit shy, receiving such compliment from her rival.
“So, Hideki, since it’s my last night here, let’s go to Wonder Egg 7!”
Naoko clasped Hideki’s hand and ran toward the entrance of Wonder Egg 7.
“Wait, Hideki is my friend from childhood!” Minami took Hideki’s other hand.
“No, Hideki is mine!” Naoko pulled Hideki to her side.
“Hold on, you guys!” Ayaka ran after them.
Minami, Hideki, Naoko and Ayaka went inside the Wonder Egg 7 in this way, and although Minami and Naoko were still fighting, this time, the four of them had a wonderful time there.
