Chapter Six The Case at the Matsumoto's
Keisuke Yasuda, the only survivor left, decided to stay at his friend Sho Matsumoto’s house for a while to keep safe. Makoto also stayed at the Matsumoto’s.
“That Kentaro Yasuzaka seems suspicious. How terrible it is for him to kill Daisuke Fujino, who had done nothing wrong.” Hiroko said.
“Mr. Aiba seems suspicious too. If the MILKYWAY bankrupts, he won’t have to return his debt.” Ayaka said.
“Well, they both got arrested so there’s nothing to worry about,” said Sho. Minami said, “We can’t be sure. The suspect may be in one of us.”
Everybody went silent.
“Who is the suspect?” Sho asked
“I don’t know, but we should stay careful.” Minami answered.
That night, another tragedy occurred.
Mr. Yasuda decided to sleep alone. Nobody wanted to sleep with him, and he didn’t want anybody to get hurt. He was also afraid that the person he slept with might be the criminal.
In the morning, Yukiko knocked on Mr. Yasuda’s room, but there was no answer. “Mr. Yasuda? Mr. Yasuda?” Knock, knock, knock.
“What’s the matter, Yukiko?” Minami asked sleepily.
“Mr. Yasuda doesn’t answer the door. ”
Minami tried to open the door. It was locked.
“I can handle this.”
Minami went back a few steps, and then ran and kicked the door open. Inside, Mr. Yasuda was lying with his chest stabbed by a knife. He was covered with blood.
“Mr. Yasuda!” Minami shouted.
When Yukiko saw this scene, she screamed, “Aaaahhhh!”
Everybody came to Mr. Yasuda’s room after hearing Yukiko’s scream.
A few minutes later, the police came. This time, they didn’t have a clue of who did it. Everybody slept in their own room, so nobody had alibi. Only Mr. And Mrs. Matsumoto slept together and were able to confirm each other’s alibi.
What was strange was that the window and door of Mr. Yasuda’s room were locked. It was an impossible murder.
The room that Mr. Yasuda slept in was on the second floor. Hiroko and Sho’s room and Minami’s room were on the left, Hideki’s room was at the furthest end of the hall, and Chiharu’s room and Mr. Yasuda’s room were on the right. Minami decided to check Chiharu’s room first, since it was the closest. She didn’t know if Chiharu had any motive to kill Mr. Yasuda, but she wanted to know more about Chiharu.
Chiharu’s room was empty. Minami examined the picture in the picture frame on Chiharu’s desk. She felt the man seemed sort of familiar... Then she remembered. This person is Ken Yamazaki, who was the GALAXY’s president and had committed suicide last year! What does Chiharu have to do with him? As she scrutinized the picture, she found that the man and woman resembled Chiharu. Are they her parents?
Next, Minami went to Mr. Yasuda’s room, and checked the spot that was close to Chiharu’s room. There was a closet and a drawer. Minami opened the closet. There was nothing between the clothes. However, Minami saw that there were two lines at the edges of the closet, in the furthest side. Minami pushed the closet with all her might. Then that part of the closet slowly went back, and led to Chiharu’s room.
There was the sound of footsteps, so Minami hurriedly placed the wall back in place.
“What are you doing in my room!”
Chiharu shouted angrily.
“I, I’m sorry...”
Minami left the room in a hurry, not meeting Chiharu’s eyes.
