Chapter One Girl Detective Minami Hoshino
“Wow, look Ayaka! It's so beautiful!” 15-year-old Minami Hoshino exclaimed, pointing outside from the airplane window.
“Yeah, it is,”said Minami’s best friend Ayaka Sakuragi.
“Humph! Can’t stand it. Why am I always the only boy in these trips?” Hideki Takahashi, Minami’s friend from childhood, groaned.
“Hey, you’re the one who said you wanted to come!” Minami said in an annoyed tone.
“That’s because your face said you wanted me to come.”
“I didn’t make such face!” Minami cried.
Minami and Hideki’s fight was an everyday event. Ayaka always watched them hopelessly.
The three of them often went on trips together. This time, they were going to Minami’s aunt Hiroko Matsumoto's house which was in Azuki Island, which was close to Sanriku Coast in the Tohoku Region. This was where Hiroko and Sho Matsumoto’s adopted child and Minami’s cousin in law Chiharu Matsumoto lived.
Right now, the three of them were heading to Azuki Island on an airplane. Outside the window, there was the vast ocean twinkling from the sunlight under the blue sky. Minami was somewhat restless and moving about. She didn’t know why she felt so excited. She just felt like an incident will occur.
In spite of her age, Minami was a girl detective. She had interest in mysteries and detectives from when she was a child and admired detectives like Sherlock Holmes. She had her own phone number, used her room as a detective’s office, and had even put an ad on the newspaper. Yet, the customers were a few. And most of the requests were to find things that people lost. Don’t use detectives for such things! Minami always thought.
The reason why Minami had few requests was that Japanese policemen were quite intelligent. They could solve all cases very quickly. Also, they had to protect people’s privacy, so they didn’t spread much information about the case. Furthermore, Minami was still a teenager, so people preferred detectives of older age. However, even under such circumstances, Minami wanted to become a world famous female detective. She was waiting for an opportunity to show off her abilities in front of Japanese police and detectives.
“We will soon be arriving at Morioka Airport. Thank you for using the Japanese Airlines. We look forward to serving you again. We will soon be arriving at Morioka Airport. We will soon be arriving at Morioka Airport...”
“Wake up, Minami.”
“Huh?”
“We’re arriving at Morioka.” Ayaka tried hard to wake Minami up.
“...Polic officer...I still have something to say...”
“What are you saying!” Hideki said, laughing.
Ayaka and Hideki somehow managed to wake Minami up.
“Next, we'll be going on the Tohoku Airlines.” Reliable Ayaka lead Minami and Hideki.
On the next airplane, Minami felt uncomfortable. She was preoccupied by her dream on the last airplane.
In that dream, Minami was doing some research on a case along with other policemen and detectives. Minami realizes many things, but when she tries to tell her findings to a policeman, things get in her way. She woke up without being able to say anything.
While she knew it was just a dream, she felt very unsatisfied. This lack of satisfaction set a fire in Minami’s heart.
Wait and see. It is no longer the era for policemen. It’s the era for girl detective Minami Hoshino!!
This was the start of all happenings.
