Chapter 6 – Finding What We Lost
Kaze and the others return to Kaze’s home. The Eternity Dragons have been defeated and Rai has been killed. However, the city is still in ruins. It will take a long time for the city to recover from the state of anarchy that has just ended. Good has once again prevailed over evil. Kaze now has a new goal in mind. To find the man known as Genten.
A day after they return from city hall, Kaze has some questions for Fukusei.
“The police are back in power then?”
“Indeed they are.”
“How’s Yuma?”
“Asleep in the spare room.”
“I told her everything.”
“The whole things a lot to process.”
Fukusei looks to still be in shock and disbelief over the events that took place at city hall.
“I can’t believe Chikaku’s gone.”
Kaze looks upset about this. Kaze cared deeply for Chikaku and can’t help but feel a sense of guilt. Kaze refuses to accept that Chikaku is gone.
“He’s not gone.”
“When we find Genten we’ll get him back.”
Fukusei reveals that he has now gone through all of the documents that they found in Rai’s office. Fukusei reveals his findings to Kaze.
“I was looking at the documents we got from Rai’s office.”
“He was subjecting Yuma to the same thing over and over.”
“Until she could dream it and pull it out for him.”
“She was never able to dream what he wanted.”
Fukusei reveals some other information that he discovered in the documents. It appears that Rai captured an agent of Genten. Unknown to Kaze and Fukusei, this agent was none other than Kanashi.
“He was tracking Genten also.”
“He tortured an agent of Genten.”
Fukusei shows a serious expression. Kaze looks on as the suspense builds.
“Rai managed to secure a name.”
“The name of Genten’s right hand man.”
Kaze looks shocked by this but at the same time he is pleased that progress is being made. This is the first step to getting Chikaku back.
“He goes by the name of Saru.”
Fukusei looks as if he is about to bear bad news.
“Rai couldn’t find anything about him.”
“Apparently countless assassins came after him.”
Fukusei gets the chills as if something which he read had scared him.
“But none of them had faces.”
“They were like mannequins that had been possessed.”
“Apparently Rai met someone with a similar power once before.”
“This scared him to the point that he stopped the search.”
Kaze is extremely surprised by this. Despite Kaze’s dislike towards Rai, Kaze knew that Rai is not scared easily.
“Rai’s not the type to get scared.”
“It must be pretty serious.”
Fukusei agrees. Fukusei has revealed almost everything he has found out.
“That’s the basics of the findings.”
“If we can’t find Genten then I suppose we should look for Saru.”
Kaze is confused as to where they should begin. If that was all that the findings said, then they are not much closer to finding Genten. This is especially the case is Saru is just as elusive as Genten.
“Where should we start?”
Fukusei lifts his finger up and bears a smug expression. Fukusei has not revealed a key piece of information that he knows.
“They say Saru has a bar he frequents.”
“The best part about this is that it’s not too far from us.”
“The question is who should go after him?”
Kaze is quick to respond. He is now excited about the idea that they can bring back Chikaku with ease now.
“How about me and you go?”
Fukusei is questioning this in his mind. Fukusei trusts that Saru will be no match for himself and Kaze but Fukusei is yet to become fully acquainted with Shokku.
“Do you trust Shokku to look after Yuma?”
“I trust him with my life.”
After informing Shokku and Yuma of the plan, Kaze and Fukusei take Fukusei’s car to the bar. The bar is far outside of town. Fukusei laughs as he realises that the bar is in a town that appears to be straight out of a western cowboy movie. The bar looks more like a cowboy saloon then a typical bar. After the long ride, Kaze is wondering why Fukusei said it was close.
“That was a pretty long car ride.”
“I thought you said the place was close.”
Fukusei is annoyed with Kaze’s lack of understanding.
“Not everything can be on our doorstep.”
Kaze looks at Fukusei.
“I didn’t say that.”
“I didn’t even know this place existed.”
Fukusei and Kaze enter the bar. They look very out of place as it appears that everyone inside the bar is dressed like a cowboy. This is the first thing that Fukusei notices. However, Kaze notices that many people in the bar are concealing guns despite them being highly illegal. Fukusei and Kaze walk up to the bartender.
“Do you know where I can find Saru?”
The bartender instantly responds.
“Best not to be asking those questions.”
When Fukusei and Kaze asked this, a figure in the bar noticed this and began to walk outside. Fukusei notices this.
“I think we just found our man.”
Kaze and Fukusei both head outside into the desert street. Saru looks them down from the other side of the street. It looks like a standoff will occur between them. Saru packs a revolver on his side which he moves his hand away from to flick his cigarette on the floor. Before Fukusei or Kaze can say anything, Saru begins to speak.
“You don’t need to explain anything.”
“I know both your powers.”
“I know my gun can’t harm you Kaze.”
This reinforces a belief that Kaze had while he was travelling with Chikaku. Kaze couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched.
“I knew it.”
“Genten was watching us this whole time.”
Saru smiles at this as he realises that Kaze has finally begun to understand the extent of Genten’s powers.
“Genten is a merciful man.”
“He doesn’t like when I kill people.”
“It’s too late to send assassins after you.”
“But the both of you know too much.”
“It’s time I show you my power.”
Saru pulls out two black discs. Saru looks as if he has already won. His confidence is radiating and this worries both Fukusei and Kaze.
“It would be best if you disappear.”
“Just long enough for me and Genten to change our names and disappear.”
Kaze prepares himself to fight as he can tell that Saru is about to use his attack.
“Disappearing Act!”
Saru throws both of the discs. Despite Kaze’s and Fukusei’s attempts to dodge, Saru predicted the directions and distances of their dodges by their body language. The discs land directly under Fukusei and Kaze. When the disc land below them, they both sink through the ground. The fight is over.
Kaze is now alone. He wakes up on a tropical island and no has no clue where he is.
“Where am I?”
Kaze looks around at his surroundings and realises that he has never been here before. The weather is warm and Kaze is surrounded by beaches and trees.
“This island isn’t familiar to me.”
“Wait a minute.”
Kaze has a sudden realisation. Kaze remembers that he was in the middle of a fight with Saru. Kaze doesn’t want to lose his only chance to find Genten.
“Saru is going to get away!”
Kaze looks around at his surroundings and heads over to the beach. Kaze is standing on the sand looking at each end of the coastline.
“Where’s Fukusei?”
“FUKUSEI!”
Kaze wonders what Saru has done. What kind of power could Saru possibly possess to cause this?
“What kind of power is this?”
Kaze suddenly notices a very muscular man standing on the beach and looking out at the sea.
“Oi.”
“You over there!”
The very muscular man turns and looks surprised when he sees Kaze. Kaze heads towards the muscular man.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had anyone on my island.”
“How did you get here?”
Kaze recounts the story in his mind and decides that he is in too much of a rush to give all the details. It’s likely that this man would not believe Kaze anyway.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Try me.”
Kaze looks at the man’s hands and notices a blue tattoo-style wave marking on the back of one of his hands and a green tattoo-style leaf marking on the other. The man suddenly begins to walk slightly into the ocean so that the ocean seas reach his ankles.
“Where are you going?”
The man did not reply to Kaze but instead clenched his fist and pounded the ocean with his hand that had the leaf symbol on the back. When the man did this, the nearby ocean transformed into land, as if it was naturally part of the island. Kaze is surprised by this.
“You have a power too?”
The man turns to face Kaze.
“I’m Genso.”
“I created this island.”
“If it wasn’t for me making this place then you’d still be at sea.”
“I can submerge this island at any time too.”
“I just need to strike it with my sea hand.”
“That’s the power of my ability.”
“I call it ‘Land and Sea’.”
“I can shape the mass of the earths land and sea to my desire.”
“But enough about me.”
“Tell me how you got here.”
Kaze begins to tell Genso about his journey. Mid-way through the conversation, Genso instructs Kaze to follow him. They head to a quaint shack that Genso built on the island and Genso proceeds to pour them both some tea. Kaze finishes telling Genso about his journey. To Kaze’s surprise, Genso appears annoyed for some reason.
“I see.”
“It sounds like your pretty weak.”
Kaze looks shocked by the fact that Genso could say this. Only a few minutes ago, Kaze told Genso about how he defeated Rai and numerous others.
“What?”
“I just told you my whole journey…”
Genso puts his tea down.
“I admit most people can’t do what you did.”
“Saru beat you in seconds though.”
Kaze is annoyed that this random stranger is being rude towards him despite being certain that he is a capable fighter. Kaze has also lost any desire to remain and decides that it is time to leave.
“Enough of this.”
“Where am I?”
Genso dodges the question.
“You’re on my island.”
“Where is this island though?”
“In the Republic of Guava.”
Kaze drops his tea on the floor. Kaze bears an expression of horror as he begins to panic.
“That can’t be!”
“I’m halfway across the world from Saru”
“What am I going to do?”
Genso looks peaceful and collected.
“You won’t make it in time.”
“However, I can make more land so that you can get to the nearest populated island and go home.”
Kaze is instantly relieved.
“Thank you.”
Genso pauses and informs Kaze there is condition for this to happen. This is no surprise for Kaze as things are not usually simple for him.
“There’s a catch.”
“There always is.”
Kaze is curious as to what condition he has to meet. Kaze has faced many challenges before, so this should be no problem. Genso begins to smile.
“You’d have to beat me in combat.”
Kaze is met with disbelief. The both of them fighting would benefit nobody and just waste time. Kaze wonders why Genso would want this.
“Why?”
“I haven’t had anyone to fight in many years.”
“I just spend my days sculpting the world.”
“If you could beat me then I’m sure you could take out Saru.”
Kaze is wondering what will happen until he can beat Genso.
“And until then?”
“Everything you need to survive is on the island.”
Kaze has no time to waste. Kaze knows that he must find Fukusei and then find Saru as quickly as possible. He decides the best time to fight Genso is right now.
“Show me what you got.”
Genso is surprised that Kaze wants to fight straight away. Genso secretly admires Kaze’s bold spirit.
“Right now?”
“I suppose we can test your power.”
Genso and Kaze head to the empty and open beach. They stand some distance apart and prepare to fight.
“Are you ready?”
“Give it your best shot.”
Genso prepares himself as Kaze readies his attack.
“I don’t have time for this.”
“Leafcutter ants.”
Kaze Then proceeds to throw his leafcutter ants at Genso. Genso jumps backwards and punches the floor with his land hand. A pillar then proceeds to raise up in front of Genso which protects him from the leafcutter ants. Genso then punches the pillar with his land hand which starts flying towards Kaze.
“Combat is all about predicting your opponents next move.”
Kaze quickly turns himself into insects but a large number are hit by the pillar and destroyed. When Kaze reforms, he is bloody and extremely weak. Genso looks unimpressed.
“A five second fight?”
“I hope that I was quicker than Saru.”
Genso then begins walking away from Kaze as Kaze looks on in anger.
“Come back to my hut when you’re stronger.”
Kaze is badly wounded but bares a determined expression as he knows he must beat Genso.
A few days pass by. Kaze is struggling in the wilderness of the island but is certain that he can beat Genso. Kaze heads back to Genso’s hut.
“Let’s do this!”
Genso is surprised that Kaze is back so soon.
“It’s only been a few days.”
“Don’t you want to let the island soak in a bit more?"
Kaze is in a maddened state and is beginning to lose his sanity. He knows the island is breaking him down and Genso knows this too.
“I’ve had enough of this!”
“Let me off the island.”
Genso looks amused by Kaze’s demands.
“Only if you beat me.”
Kaze and Genso head to the beach where Genso defeats Kaze in a very short amount of time. Kaze is angered by this. Kaze is becoming aware that Genso is far above his level of skill. Somehow, Genso can predict Kaze’s attacks.
It has now been three weeks since Kaze first arrived on the island. Kaze now looks extremely rugged as he lacks the essential equipment to keep himself looking well. Kaze has been slowly maddening over his time on the island. During this particular dark and rainy night, Kaze begins to understand the purpose behind the island.
“This island is hell.”
“It rains every night.”
“Everything wants to kill me.”
“It’s like Genso made this island the opposite of my hive mind.”
“No animals work in harmony here.”
Kaze recalls how his own power relies on the inspiration of the harmony of insects. As Kaze looks to the ground he notices two ants fighting to the death. This island is the opposite of him.
“I can’t beat him.”
Over the course of the last three weeks, Kaze has lost to Genso countless times.
“Every time I try an attack it fails.”
“His attacks are too unpredictable.”
“This island is unpredictable.”
Kaze sits down in the wilderness and grabs his head as he begins to lose his mind even more.
“Why is everything here so chaotic?”
“It’s making me crazy.”
“Everything in this place is dangerous.”
As the thunder flashes, Kaze notices something strange in the reflection of a shiny object caught in the tree. Within a second, Kaze identifies that the object in the reflection is a leopard. Kaze’s eyes widen as he jumps out of the way and narrowly misses its attack. Kaze has a flashback of Rai using his ability to murder Chikaku. Rai begins laughing manically.
“Rai!!!”
“You’ll pay for what you’ve done!”
“Gilded scarab!”
Kaze throws a stream of gilded scarabs on the leopard which quickly devour it.
“I’m ready.”
Kaze laughs crazily.
During the daytime, Kaze heads back to the beach and sees Genso staring out into the ocean, Genso notices Kaze. Genso notices the crazed look in Kaze’s eye.
“Oh, your back.”
Kaze laughs.
“This is my last try.”
“My life is on the line now!”
“I won’t hold back!”
“Leafcutter ants!”
Kaze throws his ants at Genso. Genso then proceeds to strike the ground with his sea hand and suddenly pillars of water begin coming out of the ground which swallow the ants and begin heading towards Kaze. Kaze dodges the water pillars and tries to throw his leafcutter ants again. Genso then strikes the ground with his land hand and a pillar of land comes up which blocks the ants. Kaze is surprised as he believes he can predict Genso’s next move.
“I’ve seen this trick before.”
“I know his next move.”
“He’s going to send the pillar flying towards me.”
Instead of striking the pillar with his land hand, Genso strikes the pillar with his sea hand causing a tidal wave to head towards Kaze. Kaze realises that if he transforms into insects then they will surely die in the water, but if he remains in a human state then Genso will be able to throw pillars through the wave and kill him. Kaze is shocked at Genso’s unpredictable pattern.
“What the hell.”
“My insects can’t survive in water.”
Genso looks towards Kaze and wonders what his next move will be.
“The rule of this island is to adapt or die!”
“That is the way I made it!”
The tidal wave is about to crash into Kaze. Kaze needs to adapt or he will surely die. Kaze has never transformed into any insect that can survive in water before. Kaze tries to think of an insect that can survive in water.
“Aghhhhhhh.”
“Water striders!”
“I need water striders.”
The wave crashes into Kaze who manages to unlock a new ability through extreme stress. Kaze successfully transforms into water striders which go through the wave and reassemble on the other side. Kaze is now on the offensive.
“Gilded scarab!”
Kaze throws gilded scarabs fly which towards Genso.
“Too predictable!”
Genso smashes the ground with his land hand which raises a pillar under himself. When standing on the pillar, Genso quickly hits it and spikes of land fly towards Kaze. However, as Genso looks at his shoulder he notices that a gilded scarab is on his shoulder and quickly notices that a bunch of them have landed on him.
“What?”
“How?”
Kaze smirks.
“When I activated my new water strider ability, part of my body instead became scarabs.”
“I made the scarabs bury themselves under the sand and dig towards you.”
“I guess I’m pretty lucky.”
“You just happened to raise the part of land they were hiding in.”
Genso looks defeated. However, he is proud that Kaze could finally best him.
“I see.”
“You adapted.”
“You unlocked a new ability.”
“And you outwitted me.”
Kaze releases his golden scarabs.
“A deals a deal.”
Genso jumps down from the pillar he was standing on and walks to the ocean. Genso walks slightly into the ocean and lets out a scream before striking the ground with his land hand. When Genso does this, a long pathway appears in the ocean that stretches to the horizon.
“That pathway will lead you to the nearest populated island.”
“I hope we see each other again in the future.”
Kaze looks at Genso. Even though Kaze hated his time on the island, Genso has prepared him for future battles, Kaze has greatly improved and conditioned himself.
“I hope so too.”
Kaze begins to walk across the pathway, off into the horizon.
Kaze manages to find his way back home and quickly returns to his normal self. Kaze looks the exact same as when he left, the only difference is the aura of combat experience that Kaze gives off. As he stands outside his home, Kaze wonders what events have occurred while he was missing.
“Once again I’m back to square one.”
“What am I going to tell the others.”
“I hope Fukusei is ok.”
Kaze opens the front door and walks into his house.
“Is anyone home?”
Shokku quickly runs over to Kaze.
“Kaze!”
Kaze is surprised with the very emotional reaction that Shokku is showing.
“Woah.”
“What’s wrong?”
Shokku is almost crying as he looks at Kaze.
“Where did you go?”
“We thought you were killed.”
Kaze is not sure what to tell Shokku.
“It’s a long story.”
Shokku looks around. Kaze is confused as to what Shokku is looking for.
“Where’s Fukusei?”
“Is he not back yet?”
“No.”
Shokku remembers something important. Shokku quickly starts dragging Kaze to the kitchen.
“Come with me.”
As Shokku and Kaze enter the kitchen, Kaze notices something shocking. There are two people tied up. Kaze is shocked by this at first but notices that the two people who are tied up have no faces.
“What the hell?”
Shokku looks to Kaze with a determined expression.
“What Rai said was true.”
“Genten sends faceless puppet hitmen after those tracking him.”
“Of course they were no match for me though.”
Kaze is originally excited by this but remembers his encounter with Saru. Kaze remembers Saru talking about leaving town and changing identity.
“Well it doesn’t matter anyway.”
“None of this matters.”
“How so?”
“Me and Fukusei lost Saru.”
“We have no chance of finding Genten now.”
Shokku cuts Kaze off before he can talk more.
“That’s not true.”
“Come with me.”
Shokku drags Kaze up to the room that Yuma is temporarily staying in. Yuma notices them enter the room.
“Oh, hi Kaze!”
“Shokku has told me all about you.”
Kaze looks over to Shokku who looks nervous about something.
“I hope he said good things.”
“Of course.”
Shokku directs his attention towards Yuma.
“Can you show him the book you pulled from your dream?”
“Oh sure.”
Yuma begins to look all around the room for a book. As she continues to search, Shokku decides it is now the best time to inform Kaze about the book in question.
“I told Yuma all about our struggle.”
“By a stroke of luck, she dreamt this.”
Yuma then finds the book and hands the book to Shokku.
“Thank you, Yuma.”
Shokku then proceeds to hand the book to Kaze. Upon opening the book, Kaze notices that the book only contains a location and nothing else. Kaze is confused as to what this is.
“What’s this?”
“A book that always shows Genten’s current location.”
Kaze is instantly in extreme shock. Kaze has been saved by this stroke of luck. He then turns to Yuma.
“What!”
“How is this even possible?”
“I dunno.”
“I just like sleeping.”
Shokku thinks for a minute and then asks Kaze a question which will determine their next action.
“Should we go to him?”
“Yeah.”
Kaze is concerned though. Kaze knows that Genten’s hitmen will be coming after them all and fears what will happen to Yuma if she is left alone.
“We shouldn’t leave Yuma on her own though.”
Yuma looks over at Kaze and Shokku. Shokku holds his hand out in Yuma’s direction.
“Come with us Yuma.”
“Sure.”
“If you say so.”
Yuma takes Shokku’s hand. They rent a car and head off on their journey. The journey is long and perilous and to top it off, they are attacked by Genten’s puppet hitmen constantly. They discover that Genten is currently at an abandoned packaging factory. The group eventually park their car at a nearby service station.
As the three of them get out of the car, Kaze can see the top of the factory behind some other buildings.
“We’re not far away.”
Shokku is nervous and decides that he wants to make sure that everyone is prepared because he knows the fight will not be easy.
“Are you sure we’re ready?”
“If he’s really as powerful as we’re told then…”
Before Shokku could finish his sentence, he notices something in the reflection of the wing mirror. It’s one of the puppet hitmen about to strike from behind. Shokku notices this and dodges the attack. Shokku then proceeds to strike it with his baton as another one jumps at Kaze. Kaze quickly destroys the puppet with his leafcutter ants. Shokku is surprised that there are so many puppet hitmen and discussed this with Kaze.
“Another hitman.”
“We just beat some an hour ago.”
“Genten must be scared.”
“He knows that we’re coming.”
The three of them make it safely to the outside of the abandoned packaging factory. They jump over the fence into the outside of the abandoned factory which is somewhat spacious but also contains a modest amount of empty shipping containers.
“The book says he’s nearby.”
The three of them begin to walk towards the entrance.
“He’s in here.”
As they make it a third of the way to the door, Kaze notices something. One of the shipping containers near the front of the facility is not empty. A cigarette flicks out from the container as the man hiding inside reveals himself. It is Saru.
“What did I tell you?”
“I let you and your boy live.”
“Now you’ve come back.”
“I’m gonna send you somewhere far away.”
“This time I’ll be taking your book with me.”
Kaze signals for Yuma and Shokku to stand back. Kaze prepares to fight Saru.
“I ain’t got no time to waste.”
“Disappearing Act!”
Saru proceeds to pull out his disc and looks back at Shokku and Yuma to notice that Kaze is gone.
“What the…”
Kaze used the short time frame to sneak around and is now standing behind Saru. Kaze knows that he can’t let Saru use his disc and begins to engage is hand to hand combat with Saru. They trade blows and then Saru jumps backward. Saru then proceeds to pull out his revolver and fire a few bullets at Kaze. Kaze uses his power to transform the affected areas into insects and allow the bullets to pass through before reforming, minimising the damage.
Saru has experience and knows that he’s seen many fights in his life. Judging by Kaze’s footwork, Saru is certain that Kaze is going to throw his insects at him and then dodge left. So, if I throw a disc at the place where he’s gonna land then it’s game over, Saru thinks. Saru grins at this.
“I got you now Kaze!”
Saru throws his disc at the place where Kaze is predicted to land. However instead of throwing his insects at Saru, Kaze transformed his body into a swarm of scarabs which begin flying around. Saru is confused by this.
“Huh?”
Before Saru could analyse the situation further Kaze began his next move. Kaze reassembles himself behind Saru and grabs him by the back of the neck and proceeds to throw Saru to the ground. Saru’s head makes impact with the pavement and he is knocked out. Kaze looks down at Saru.
“The rule of this jungle is adapt of die!”
“Thanks Genso.”
Shokku is surprised at Kaze’s new level of skill.
“You’ve improved Kaze.”
“Thank you, Shokku.”
Kaze, Shokku and Yuma look at the entrance to the interior of the abandoned packing facility.
“Here comes the moment of truth.”
They walk into the facility. They are suddenly attacked by more puppet hitmen. Kaze and Shokku defeat the puppet hitmen with ease in a matter of seconds. They look across the facility at a metal platform that is raised off the ground. A man steps out from shadows of the platform and looks at the three of them.
“Who was I kidding?”
“If you beat Saru then my drones didn’t stand a chance.”
Kaze realises that the man standing on the platform is Genten.
“I assume you’re Genten.”
“I know why you’re here.”
“I’m giving you one chance to leave.”
Kaze refuses to turn back now. Kaze has been through far too much to turn back now.
“I refuse.”
Genten looks both surprised and annoyed by this remark.
“You have heard the stories, haven’t you?”
“My power can do ANYTHING.”
“If you want the specifics then I can create without limitation.”
“I could create a whole new universe if I desired.”
“My power is king of all others.”
“But with my power there is an unfortunate limitation.”
Kaze is curious about Genten's power and wonders what limitation hew could possibly have.
“What’s that?”
“When I create things that break the balance of nature then there is a chance it could cause the universe itself to implode.”
“The end of the universe.”
“Do you still wish to proceed?”
Kaze hesitates for a brief moment but remembers the terrible fate that Chikaku suffered.
“Yes.”
“Even knowing I could create a button that when I tap it you die?”
“I would do anything to bring Chikaku back.”
“He didn’t deserve to die.”
Genten pauses for a moment while the room is silent.
“I admire your courage.”
Genten jumps down from the platform and stands in front of Kaze. Kaze, Shokku and Yuma all pick up on the intimidating and incredibly powerful presence that Genten gives off. Genten knows that Kaze is curious as to why he does not use his power to save everyone from dying and decides to explain.
“Can you understand why I do not wish to be found?”
“I am not harbouring my power.”
“It is too risky to use.”
“I can’t save everyone.”
“But you are in a unique position.”
“That book could ruin me and my secrecy.”
“I will make a trade with you.”
“Chikaku’s life for the book.”
Kaze is secretly excited by this but knows that there is a possibility that Genten is lying and will disappear once he has gotten the book.
“How do I know you’re not lying?”
Genten looks annoyed.
“Fine.”
Genten opens his hand and Kaze looks into Genten’s palm. A magical aura fills the air as Genten begins to speak.
“Create three pills that when one is given to a deceased person it brings them back to life!”
Three pills form from nothingness into Genten’s hand. Kaze is now sure that Genten is telling the truth.
“I accept.”
Kaze proceeds to hand over the book as Genten hands over the three pills. Kaze is curious to learn more about Genten but Genten is very reluctant to converse more than necessary.
“There’s so much I wish to know.”
Genten immediately cuts in.
“And there’s so much I wish to keep secret.”
Kaze and the others turn around to begin leaving. However, Kaze remembers something and turns back to face Genten.
“I almost forgot.”
“Can you bring Fukusei back home?”
Genten bears an unreadable expression.
“I could…”
“…but Fukusei doesn’t want to come home.”
Kaze is confused by this statement. He wonders what this is supposed to mean.
“Huh?”
“I tracked his location and he has no intention of coming home right now.”
“Your paths will cross again soon though.”
“I can promise you that.”
Genten begins to run out of patience.
“If that is all then I’d prefer you leave.”
Kaze and the others begin to leave the abandoned packing facility. After they leave the facility, Genten gives some parting words.
“Farewell Kaze.”
“I hope we never see each other again.”
Kaze, Shokku and Yuma drive to the morticians where Chikaku’s body is being held. After they arrive, they go to see Chikaku’s body. The mortician pulls Chikaku’s lifeless corpse out of the freezer. Kaze gets emotional. Kaze then turns to the mortician.
“Thank you.”
“Can you give us a minute?”
“No problem.”
The mortician leaves them alone with Chikaku. Kaze pulls one of Genten’s pills out from his pocket. Kaze is initially worried and hesitant but Shokku encourages him to continue.
“Go ahead.”
Kaze is nervous. He puts the pill in Chikaku’s mouth and waits. It’s the moment of truth. They are about to find out if Genten was being honest.
As they stand there, a miracle occurs. Chikaku opens his eyes and looks around.
“Where am I?”
Kaze instantly notices this.
“Chikaku!!!”
Kaze hugs Chikaku and begins to cry. Kaze releases his grip and looks Chikaku in the eyes as he issues a heartfelt greeting.
“I’m so glad your back.”
Before Kaze could continue, Chikaku looks away from Kaze and begins to scream. Kaze is confused as to why Chikaku is screaming. After a few seconds, Chikaku stops screaming and looks back at Kaze. Chikaku is very surprised.
“Wait a minute.”
“We made eye contact?”
Kaze is shocked as he had completely forgotten about Chikaku’s power.
“Wait, you’re right.”
Chikaku begins to cry tears of joy.
“Does that mean you’ve done it?”
“You cured me?”
“I guess Genten knew.”
Chikaku is shocked upon hearing Genten’s name.
“Did you find him?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s a long story.”
Now that the atmosphere has calmed down, Chikaku notices Shokku and Yuma and is confused as to who these two are. Chikaku decides to ask Kaze.
“Who are they?”
As Chikaku looks over at Shokku and Yuma, Yuma waves hello and Shokku smiles a triumphant smile.
“I’ll explain on the way home.”
The group begins to head home. Kaze has achieved his goal and Chikaku has got his life back.
Kaze and his crew believe they can finally rest and begin the next chapter of their lives. However, despite his death, the shadow of Rai still looms over the city. A man known as Haijo was once the deputy leader of the Eternity Dragons. Even with Rai dead, he will not rest.
