Chapter 2 - Pariah Village
Kaze and Chikaku are now in a taxi. It’s run down but it’s the best that Kaze can afford on a budget. He forked out a lot of his savings on the plane tickets to Pariah Village. Chikaku promises to pay him back but money doesn’t matter to Kaze, it’s not what gives him satisfaction. Chikaku still has some questions for Kaze.
“I still don’t know why you’d do all this for me.”
“I told you before.”
Chikaku has the realisation that this is what a friendship feels like, something that Chikaku hasn’t experienced for a very long time. Despite the fact that Chikaku is a rather reserved person, he feels like he must inform Kaze that he appreciates his efforts.
“You’re the first friend I’ve had in a long time.”
Kaze smiles knowing that even without removing Chikaku’s power, Chikaku feels a sense of happiness. Kaze is glad about this and sure that they have a long friendship. However, before Kaze gets the time to respond to Chikaku the taxi arrives at the airport.
Kaze and Chikaku are now at the airport. After a while they realise that they’re slightly early and must now wait for their flight to board. However, after Kaze fills Chikaku in on his adventure so far, Chikaku wonders about the reliability of Kaze’s source.
“So do you think we can really trust Ando?”
“I think so. He had no reason to lie to me.”
They hear an alert sound. It echoes though the loud and open airport.
“Now boarding Flight 842 to Pariah Village.”
“That’s us.”
Chikaku begins to walk to the flight. He is excited at the prospect of ideally removing his curse. Kaze begins to follow Chikaku. As they walk towards the flight something catches Kaze’s eye. Over at the phone box, a note is taped to the side with Kaze’s name on it. Kaze’s suspicions grow as he now realises the possibility that Rai might be following him.
Unable to satisfy his curiosity, Kaze approaches the phone box and opens the note. Kaze is surprised as the note reads a threat.
“Go home or face the smoke man’s wrath!”
Kaze is worried about this and looks around the airport but doesn’t see anyone suspicious. This has gone too far to be a prank now. The Smoke Man may try to harm him or Chikaku. However, Chikaku will be suspicious if Kaze takes too long to board the plane. Kaze decides it’s in everyone’s best interest not to worry Chikaku and begins walking to the plane.
As Kaze leaves, a hooded figure smoking a cigarette watches on. His upper face is indistinguishable as he is wearing a hoodie with the hood up.
Kaze and Chikaku board the plane fine. There are no issues though Kaze is on guard. If Rai was really following him then surely he would be easy to recognise. Once they board the flight, Kaze remains alert and secretly looks down the aisle to see if there’s anybody suspicious on-board the flight. As Kaze puts their bags overhead he reassures himself that there isn’t anything to be afraid of.
Kaze and Chikaku then take their seats. The plane is a bit cramped and full of people but Kaze doesn’t mind. As the plane is about to take off, Kaze has a final question for Chikaku.
“Are you ready?”
“I sure am.”
The plane takes off without any issue. As the flight goes on Chikaku falls asleep. As the flight is mid-air a notice is said over the intercom.
“You may now unfasten your seatbelts.”
Kaze comes to the realisation that he hasn’t used the bathroom in a while and decides to head to the planes bathroom. Kaze enters and locks the door. Kaze is relieved to be away from stressful situations. He can finally rest.
Kaze puts his hand on the bathroom counter and his hand transforms into moths. Kaze then hears a slight beeping sound. This is only possible because of the enhanced hearing that the moths have. Kaze looks around the bathroom but is unable to pinpoint the location of the beep.
Kaze decides the best course of action is to reassemble all of his hand except for a single moth.
“Where is that noise coming from?”
The last moth lands on the toilets tank. Kaze then absorbs it into his hand and begins lifting up the top of the toilet tank. At this moment Kaze was filled with a terrifying feeling. Kaze was feeling impending doom. As Kaze looks down into the toilet tank he notices what appears to be an explosive device with a note attached.
“I warned you Kaze!”
Kaze is shocked as to how the bomb got on the plane. He is unsure of what to do. He didn’t see anyone suspicious at the airport or on the plane. How could they have done this. This isn’t any ordinary evil person. This is the work of someone who kills for a living.
Kaze is startled and frozen in place. How is he supposed to respond to a bomb? If he doesn’t think fast, then many will die including himself and Chikaku.
Someone bangs on the bathroom door. Despite this, Kaze is unresponsive. Kaze is still trying to process the situation until the banging continues.
“Hello? is anyone in there?”
Kaze knows he needs to think fast or his journey will end shortly. Kaze doesn’t know anything about bombs other then what he’s seen in movies. However, he knows that if he doesn’t deal with the woman outside the bathroom then he risks sending the plane into panic at which point he’ll be unable to save them. This fact gives Kaze the courage to speak even though he speaks lightly and with a sense of dread in his voice.
“Uhhh just a minute!”
Kaze thinks about the possible routes of action he can take. Kaze knows his leafcutter ants can cut through wire. Kaze turns a finger into leafcutter ants which climb onto the bomb. They remove the note from the top of the bomb and carefully bring it to Kaze. Kaze can now fully see the bomb and knows that this should make things a bit easier. Kaze scrunches up the note and throws it in the toilet. The less people that know anything about this, the better the situations outcome. One ant falls over on the bomb and Kaze gets scared.
“Easy now.”
“It’s like they say in the movies… always cut the red wire.”
“At least I think that’s right.”
Before Kaze could continue thinking he was interrupted by continued banging on the bathroom door.
“Hello, I need to use the bathroom.”
Kaze has now lost his temper. All sense of rationality has escaped Kazes body as he desperately decides on how to deal with the bomb. Kaze loudly responds to the pestering woman.
“I said give me one damn second!!!”
“There’s no need to be so rude.”
Kaze decided to take a second to close his eyes before reopening them and preparing to focus. Kaze is unsure that his course of action is the right one but decides to go forward with it.
The leafcutter ants begin to cut the red wire. As this happens, Kaze is drenched in sweat and very visibly nervous about the situation. Kaze is fixated on the light attached to the bomb that was flashing a deep red. A clicking sound is made as the leafcutter ants fully cut through the red wire. Kaze is nervously looking at the previously blinking light.
The light remains dormant for five seconds. Kaze is sure that this means that the bomb is no longer active and is relieved that everything will be ok now. Kaze puts the top of the toilet tank back on. He hopes that nobody else will discover the bomb during their journey.
Kaze gives a final large sigh of relief as he can finally relax. There is more banging on the bathroom door. The pestering lady still hasn’t left.
“Hello!”
“Hello!”
“Damn it I said give me one minute!”
Kaze gets back into his plane seat. Still shaken by the ordeal, Kaze relaxes in his plane seat the best he can but his facial expression is still one of horror. Chikaku then wakes up oblivious to the whole situation.
“What’s up Kaze?”
“You look all shaken and sweaty?”
“Oh its nothing…”
Before Kaze can get any rest, Chikaku draws Kaze’s attention and begins to point outside the window at the developing slum known as Pariah Village.
“Oh wow, look Kaze!”
“It’s Pariah Village!”
Chikaku is excited by the site of the village but Kaze can only think about resting. The plane lands safely and they disembark the plane. At the airport they decide a course of action. Go straight to a hotel. Upon leaving the airport they come across a merchant selling taxi services.
“Hello friends, would you like a taxi service?”
“Sure.”
“And where would you like to go?”
“To the nearest hotel. How much for the both of us?”
“Let’s see. 8000 Pilar!”
“8000 !!!!”
Kaze is completely shocked by the overpriced taxi service. The price of a coffee in Pariah Village is only 300 Pilar after all. While both Kaze and Chikaku are shocked by the price, the merchant doesn’t seem to care as his cheering attitude now turns to one of disinterest as he shrugs his shoulders.
“You can take my price or you can walk.”
Kaze and Chikaku look at each other with dissatisfied facial expressions but know that the nearest hotel is far from the airport. The merchant has them both in a corner. They have no choice but to take the merchants offer unless they would like to partake in hours of walking. However, Kaze knows they must conserve their energy for the mountain climb.
As Kaze and Chikaku get into the beaten and barely working taxi they begin to go over the plan they have set while the drivers traditional Pariah music plays in the backgrounds.
“Alright so we have to get up that mountain. The best route to take would be to follow the Pilgrims Pass.”
Chikaku yawns a deep yawn as if he did not get enough sleep on the flight. This shocked Kaze as it was him who was unable to get enough sleep.
“I’m so tired. Can we sleep after we drop our bags off and check the mountain out in the morning?”
“But you slept the whole time on the plane.”
“I know but I get tired easily.”
Kaze reluctantly agrees. His expression of hesitation soon turned to one of amusement knowing that he would finally be able to get some sleep. However, the desire to adventure is so deeply enthralled inside Kaze that he could easily stay awake if it was important.
Kaze and Chikaku get the keys from the hotel staff and head to their rooms. The hotel is far better than the standard of Pariah Village but it is still not even close to being as nice as the hotels they’re used too. They have an uninterrupted and peaceful sleep. Kaze hopes that the day ahead will be just like this.
As the morning approaches Kaze is finally awake. He looks over at the other bed which holds a sleeping Chikaku.
“Still sleeping?”
As expected there is no response. Chikaku is in a deep sleep. Kaze looks at the time but remembers that he didn’t calibrate his watch and that he is in a different time zone. Kaze opens the curtain to see the busy streets below and the bright light of the sun blasting into the room.
Kaze gets out of bed and turns the TV on in the hotel room. The news anchor is speaking about a serious matter.
“A bomb was found on flight 842 to Pariah Village.”
“Police are calling for all information…”
Kaze turns the TV off, not wanting to relive the memory from last night. He looks over to make sure that Chikaku didn’t hear anything. As expected Chikaku is still fast asleep. Kaze decides that it’s time to wake Chikaku up and head to the mountain.
As Kaze and Chikaku begin leaving the hotel, Chikaku notices that Kaze is in a rush. The climb to the mountains peak is only a few hours. Chikaku wonders why Kaze is in such a rush and decides to question him on the matter.
“What’s the rush?”
“You do want your powers removed as quickly as possible right?”
While Chikaku knew this to be true he notices that despite his lack of sleep, Kaze is smiling and in a brilliant mood. The adventure calls to Kaze from the bottom of his soul.
“Well… yeah but its 9 in the morning. How are you so refreshed?”
Before Chikaku gets the time to get a response from Kaze, Kaze begins calling over a taxi. The taxi rushes over and Kaze opens the door. Chikaku’s question will have to remain unanswered as they get into the suspiciously poor taxi.
The taxi ride goes smoothly. There’s not much conversation within the taxi but both Kaze and Chikaku take in the view of the village. The taxi eventually drops them off near the mountain. In his haste to the mountain, Kaze forgot to question the driver on the price of service. Before Kaze could ask, the driver is quick to announce it.
“That will be 6500 Pilar.”
“6500!!!!”
The driver holds a smug expression while Kaze is in disbelief at the prices. Deep down he knows it is his own fault for not questioning the driver on the prices as soon as he entered the taxi. Kaze reluctantly pays the driver who then drives off. Kaze and Chikaku stand at the base of the mountain. Kaze points towards the peak of the mountain.
“Now, we go up there.”
The both look up at the mountain. It’s a breathtakingly great view. Kaze reassures Chikaku that they can do this and they begin their climb. However, as they begin their climb a figure watches from the distance. It’s the man with the black hoodie from the airport. He flicks his cigarette out of his mouth and begins to follow them from a distance.
Kaze and Chikaku climb the mountain as planned. The climb is long and potentially perilous at times but together they are able to face every obstacle in their way. However, when approaching the top of the mountain the only bridge to the peak is a wooden walkway that’s infamous for its fatalities.
This wooden walkway is a terrifying sight to both Kaze and Chikaku. They both glance at the walkway with nervous expressions. They can cross it or they can turn back, there is no other option. Kaze’s bravery and heroism prevent him from turning back.
“It looks like this is the only way up.”
“Across that? You expect me to walk across that?”
At this moment in time, Chikaku views Kaze’s bravery as nothing more than foolishness. The bridge is as sturdy as the taxi they used to get here. Chikaku needs serious convincing.
“Well, you do want to get your powers removed right?”
Chikaku knows that this is what he desires more than anything else. If he has to risk his life to get what he desires, then he is willing to do it. Chikaku’s face turns to a hardy expression as he clenches his fist and gets ready to confront his fears.
“Do you want me to go first?”
Chikaku is relived that Kaze offered to go ahead of him. The idea of crossing the bridge still frightens Chikaku immensely and he is currently paralysed with fear. Chikaku waits on Kaze.
“Just follow me. You can do this.”
Kaze begins walking across the unstable, creaky and narrow wooden path. Kaze is trying his best not to show his fear. As Kaze begins getting further across the bridge, Chikaku begins to follow him. AS they continue crossing the bridge, the suspense in the air builds up dramatically.
Kaze gradually makes it across the bridge as Chikaku constantly reminds himself not to look below. Chikaku makes it to the final plank. The sense of relief and victory overwhelms him as he knows he has made it across.
“I made it!”
As Chikaku throws his fist into the air in a cheering gesture the unspeakable happens and the final plank collapses causing Chikaku to begin to fall. As Chikaku begins to fall he lets out a scream. However, as soon as the plank begun collapsing, Kaze had jumped to the ground and was able to grab Chikaku’s arm. With only a bit of hesitation, Kaze was able to pull Chikaku back onto the snow covered surface.
That experience causes them both to be out of breath. Before continuing with their climb they both lay down on the blanket of snow and rest.
“We’re nearly there.”
Kaze and Chikaku don’t rest for long as they soon continue walking up the mountain. Luckily the walk to the top is short. When they are near the top Chikaku notices an unusual sight.
“Look Kaze.”
Chikaku lifts his arm and points towards a shack in the field of snow at the mountains peak. They both approach the shack cautiously. Kaze knocks on the door and a voice responds.
“Come in.”
Chikaku slowly opens the door and begins to enter as Kaze follows. They enter into a candlelit room that is mostly empty expect for the mostly mythical-style objects arranged as décor and the herbs that cover the ground. They notice an old woman sitting on top of a rug that is lain on the ground. The old woman doesn’t seem to respond to their entry but instead continues to grind herbs with her mortar and pestle.
“Take a seat.”
Kaze and Chikaku briefly look at each other before both knowing that the best course of action would be to sit. They both take a seat on the rug with the old woman.
“We…”
Before Kaze could continue his sentence he was interrupted by the old woman.
“I know what you want. I have knowledge of almost all things.”
Kaze recalls that Ando said the same thing about this woman. He would be wise not to doubt her. However, Kaze also wonders if perhaps Ando had visited the woman of the mountain in times past. This was not of any concern to Kaze though so he decided to not to pursue his line of inquiry but instead let the mountain woman continue.
“I will explain all. But you must first listen to my story.”
Kaze and Chikaku are both confused by this but allow the woman to continue her story out of respect. The mountain woman lights a stick of incense before continuing. Kaze recalls in his mind that the scent reminds him of a spice from a faraway land. Perhaps the mountain woman resides from that land and not from Pariah.
“Powers are not as unique as you think. It is true that every power is a unique power.”
“Though sometimes another human will awaken the same power. But only after the current user’s death. Maybe 1000 years after the original user’s death… or maybe only 10.”
Kaze is confused as to how the story relates to Chikaku. This woman supposedly knows almost everything after all. Kaze is suspicious and decides to question the mountain woman.
“Ok but what does that have to do with…”
Before Kaze could finish his question he is cut off by the mountain woman who is annoyed that somebody would interrupt her.
“Hush.”
“The power you seek is currently in possession of a man named… Genten.”
In a faraway land a shadowy figure that currently resides in a bedroom opens his eyes. It is the shadow of Genten. It is almost as if Genten knows that someone somewhere in the world is talking about him. Back at the shack, the mountain woman continues her story.
“He has the power to create anything he desires, even if that thing is something that is beyond human limitation.”
“He can give and take powers… he can even bring the dead back to life.”
Kaze is startled by the fact that someone could possess power so great and not use it to fix the world in every way. However, Kaze’s mind does not process this fact as his mind is locked into the objective of helping Chikaku. Kaze needs to find Genten.
“Where do we find him?”
“I cannot say. If I told you then my life would be at risk.”
Both Kaze and Chikaku are shocked by this. They both wonder how a woman who has near endless knowledge could be afraid of another person. Before leaving the shack, the mountain woman gives Kaze and Chikaku a final statement.
“Genten does not want to be found.”
These words seemed to resonate with Chikaku and make him visibly nervous. Kaze on the other hand was unaffected and still determined to help Chikaku. Kaze’s mind is full of ways to try and find Genten.
As Kaze and Chikaku leave the shack, Chikaku wonders if there’s any alternatives to going up against someone who can create without limitations. As they stand outside the shack and the wind blows on them both, Chikaku questions this.
“Do you really think trying to find Genten is a good idea?”
Before Kaze could answer the question they notice a man with crazed fiery red hair standing in front of them. The first thing they notice is the peculiar robe style attire he is wearing along with the hoodie tied around his waist.
“You spoke to her already?”
Kaze and Chikaku are both puzzled as to who this man is and why he is striking up a conversation with them as it is clear he has no affiliation to either of them. Kaze decides to question the mysterious figure on his identity.
“Who are you?”
“My names Kemuri.”
Kaze appears to be disinterested in Kemuri. Kaze is still confused as to why this man has come to the mountain. Maybe he also wants to know something. Kaze waits for Kemuri to further elaborate.
“You know me as the smoke man.”
The instant that Kemuri began to say his alternate name, Kaze immediately became alert while his eyes widened now realising the severity of the situation. Chikaku has never heard of the smoke man however and questions who this is.
“Who?”
Before Kemuri could respond, Kaze immediately jumps in front of Chikaku and puts one of his arms to the left to protect Chikaku from the impending danger.
“Get back Chikaku. He’s dangerous!!!”
A bunch of small clouds made of a thick and dark smoke begin to orbit Kemuri. Kemuri looks ready to enable his power. Kaze is mentally preparing himself and decides he must explain the situation to a still confused Chikaku.
“I have no clue what his power is. But he planted a bomb on our flight here.”
“HE DID WHAT!!!”
Chikaku is in disbelief that all of this could happen without his knowledge. However, Chikaku’s disbelief soon turns to shock and fear as he begins to process that a serious villain stands in front of them.
Kemuri puts his hand forward and one of the smoke clouds that are orbiting him locates itself on his hand. The cloud of smoke that’s resting on Kemuri’s hand transforms itself into a revolver. Kemuri smiles at this and lifts his arm up to point the gun at Kaze.
“You see kid… powers are a lot like a game of rock paper scissors…”
“The gun usually wins.”
Kemuri is still curious as to what ability both Kaze and Chikaku possess. Kaze and Kemuri are in a standoff. Kaze begins to carefully walk to the side. Both Kaze and Kemuri walk in a circular motion. Kaze has smartly done this in order to keep Chikaku out of the crossfire. With Kemuri’s gun now not being aimed towards Chikaku, Kaze can ask questions.
“What do you want with me?”
“Genten wants to remain hidden.”
Kaze is originally surprised as to how someone arrived so quickly. Kaze then remember that it is alleged that Genten can do nearly anything so it is not a surprise that Genten predicted his identity would be found and sent a hitman early. Kaze’s original surprise now turns to interest as he realises that the man standing before him could have met Genten. Maybe this is Kaze’s chance to get his request in front of Genten.
“You know him?”
“Hardly. I’ve never even seen the guy. He does all his work through third parties.”
“That way… he can never be found.”
Kaze is annoyed that he still has no way to find Genten. However, Kaze is unsurprised that Genten takes such heavy precautions to avoid being detected. After all, a power like Genten’s is bound to make many people jealous who would no doubt do all they can to take it. Before Kaze could think, Kemuri continues his speech.
“See I’m just a hitman…”
Kemuri cocks his revolver and prepares to fire at Kaze.
“…and I’m pretty fuckin good at my job.”
Kemuri shoots twice at Kaze but Kaze predicts the shots. Of course, as Kaze is not fast enough to dodge a bullet he decides to minimize his damage. Kaze transform the parts of his body targeted into insects and reform them once the bullets have passed through. Luckily only a few insects get hurt and fly off his body. Once the insects reform into the afflicted areas of Kaze’s body, he is fully healed.
“Oh shit… so that’s his power.”
Before Kemuri could analyse further, Kaze flings his arm forward and insects come flying off which land all over Kemuri. Kemuri is aware that Kaze could now kill him at any time. Kaze knows that he is now in charge of the conversations and send a stern warning before beginning his interrogation.
“Make another move and my insects will tear through your flesh.”
“First things first, tell me what your power is.”
“I can conjure and manipulate smoke clouds to turn into any weapon I’ve previously touched.”
Kemuri is annoyed at knowing he’s lost the situation and menacingly looks at Kaze.
“You’re just lucky I’ve never touched a flamethrower…”
“…otherwise we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
Kaze has no interest and takes no pleasure in trash talking his opponents. Instead his interest is in finding out more about Genten.
“Quiet! Who is Genten?”
“I don’t know.”
“Where is Genten?”
“I don’t know.”
Kaze is annoyed that Kemuri doesn’t seem to know anything. Kaze finds it difficult to believe that a hitman would do a job and not know anything about his employer. Kaze thinks that Kemuri was maybe hired by somebody who knows Genten and begins a new line of enquiry.
“Who hired you?”
“Genten.”
“Who hired you on Genten’s behalf?”
“I don’t know the name.”
Kaze is annoyed at Kemuri’s brief answers and lack of knowledge regarding Genten. Kaze is certain that Kemuri is telling the truth though. Kaze’s tone of voice quickly changes and his seriousness diminished slightly.
“How can you not know something like that?”
“It’s not in my job description to ask questions.”
“My services are anonymous as long as you have the money.”
Kemuri seems tired of answering questions. It’s clear that he takes pleasure in killing and any type of conversation based around anything other than death bores him. Kaze is perplexed as to how a hitman would operate with such a poor business mind-set.
“Just what kind of hitman are you?”
“I specialise in killing people with powers.”
Kaze comes to the realization that this hitman has been sent after him and Chikaku. Kaze can only hold Kemuri here for so long. Kaze wonders if Kemuri would pursue him and Chikaku if Kemuri was to be released.
“Do you plan to kill us?”
“How can I?”
“It’s like I said before… powers are a lot like a game of rock paper scissor…”
“…and your ability beats the gun.”
“Besides, the payment isn’t worth this kind of hassle.”
Kaze is unsure if Kemuri is being entirely honest. However, Kaze knows that there may be a way to get out of the situation without any casualties. If that is the case, then Kaze knows this is the best option to take.
“So if I release you then you promise you won’t pursue us?”
While this option makes Kemuri smile it also makes Chikaku worry. Chikaku wonders how can they trust a psychopathic hitman. Kaze deep down also wonders the same.
“Kaze, what are you doing?”
“He’ll kill us.”
While this worry almost is enough to make Kaze change his mind, he looks at Kemuri for a response.
“You have my word. I won’t harm any of you.”
Kaze is deciding whether it would be a good choice to release his insects from Kemuri. Chikaku is standing with an immense worry in his mind. As Kaze weighs up his options he realises that any result with minimum casualties is better. Kaze reluctantly releases the bugs which fall to the ground. Kaze is still second guessing this decision in his mind. Before Kaze could say another word, Kemuri pulls a cigarette out from his pocket and puts it in his mouth.
“I will remember this.”
Kemuri turns his back to Chikaku and Kaze. It appears Kemuri was being honest as he no longer bears an expression which hides a murderous intent. Kemuri walks away and begins heading down the mountain. Chikaku is still in fear and turns to face Kaze.
“Kaze, what were you thinking?”
Kaze is calm and collected. Kaze is certain that he made the right choice. That certainty was reinforced further as he watched Kemuri fade into the distance.
“He had no intent to kill us once he saw my power.”
“He knows his life isn’t worth the money.”
Upon hearing this, Chikaku has full faith in Kaze. After everything that Kaze has done for him, Kaze wouldn’t let anything bad happen. Chikaku wonders about their next course of action.
“Well, what now?”
Kaze knows what must be done next. He gives Chikaku a brief and straightforward response.
“We find Genten.”
As Kaze and Chikaku stand at the mountain top they believe their next move is planned. However, they neglected to recall that they are not the only people in the world. While they were making moves, other players were setting the board up for their own checkmate.
As Kaze and Chikaku headed back home, they would return to a home that is unfamiliar to them.
Meanwhile…
Back home, events were occurring. Two thugs in black leather jackets are sitting at a diner and both have been harassing their young waitress.
“Please that’s enough.”
The thugs take no notice of her pleas and only appear interested in bedding her by any means necessary.
“Come on baby.”
One of the thugs proceeds to grab her skirt in an attempt to lift it up. The waitress is pleading with the men who pay no attention. The waitress is trying desperately to hold her skirt down but the thugs continue.
“Don’t worry baby. We can show you a good time.”
The thugs both bear an evil and twisted expression. Their frustration against the waitress goes further as they are practically trying to undress her. The waitress begins to tear up. The waitress tries to hold back the tears but can’t stop herself from crying. The waitress sees a police officer sitting at the back of the diner. She glances towards him and mutters.
“Please help me mister.”
The police officer looks over. He’s had a long day and doesn’t want to deal with violent thugs. However, as an officer of the law he knows it is his duty. The police officer stands up and gains the attention of the two thugs.
“Hey, you two.”
The thugs look over at the police officer. The thug with his back facing the police officer stands up. The thug gestures with his thumb, pointing towards the giant patch sown on his jacket which reads ‘Eternity Dragons’.
The police officer notices this and immediately is terrified. The police officer can barely put a sentence together.
“S…s...s…sorry for bothering you gentlemen.”
The police officer sits back down and pretends to ignore the situation which is unfolding in front of him.
Before the thugs can take advantage of the waitress, a mysterious figure enters the diner.
“Oi.”
The thugs pay no attention at first but notice the identity of the man who just entered and get scared. The thugs immediately both stand to issue a salute and words in a tone of fear.
“Yes boss!”
“What do you need boss!”
“We have a meeting with the mayor. I’ll need you to back me up.”
The mysterious figure is revealed to be none other than Rai who offers an evil grin in the direction of the thugs. Rai has begun his plan to take over the world.
