以下の戯曲は、メアリ・シェリー（執筆当時はメアリ・ウルストンクラフト・ゴドウィン）の書簡体小説『フランケンシュタイン、あるいは現代のプロメテウス』を、リチャード・ブリンスリー・ピークが初めて脚色したものである。御覧の通り、怪物に名前はなく********と、今で言う名無し。この扱いを、怪優クーク氏の演技共々、原作者はいたくお気に召したとか。

Presumption! or, the Fate of Frankenstein is an 1823 play in three acts by Richard Brinsley Peake based on the 1818 novel Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. It is the first recorded theatrical adaption of the novel and had 37 performances during its original run. It was revived at the English Opera House until at least 1850.
