不思議なメール
10/26 2:25 PM - Check email.
Matt tried to avoid venturing outside if he could help it. He made a living doing software development remotely from his home and was able to accomplish most everything he needed to do online.
Ever since he woke up one day with several years of his past missing from his memory, he became wary of going outside. Doctors couldn't explain what exactly happened and nobody knew where he went or what he did during those years. He decided not to take any chances by staying inside as much as possible and also started taking notes periodically throughout the day on his activities so that he could watch out for any gaps.
That's why he felt a brief moment of panic when he saw an email from an address he didn't recognize.
Relax, he told himself as he double-clicked on the strange email. It's probably just spam that somehow got through the spam filter.
How odd. The email was filled with what looked like elaborate mathematical equations and Japanese.
Though Matt's grandparents on his mother's side were Japanese and he could recognize the language, he had never really bothered to learn it. But this didn't look like it came from his grandparents. For one thing, they didn't know how to use a computer.
How interesting. I wonder what it's saying?
Matt was pretty sure it was just spam but the math equations looked oddly familiar. He always kind of wanted to learn Japanese and he was getting bored with his work anyway. He welcomed the distraction and mental challenge. What better opportunity to start? He went online to start learning Japanese to decipher the mysterious email.
