Ending Omega  作者: endingomega

World Build

The world of Ending Omega exists in a near modern era where advanced technology and supernatural abilities coexist. Cars, electricity, skyscrapers, and cell phones are commonplace, and power is openly integrated into society rather than hidden. Social hierarchy is influenced heavily by magical aptitude, combat ability, and wealth. Individuals who demonstrate strength or usefulness through power command respect and opportunity, often regardless of morality. Weakness, whether physical or magical, is commonly pitied or dismissed. If you cannot wield a power source, building wealth through business and innovation is how respect is earned, which is why technology exists in this world.

Bronzeland and Other Nations

Bronzeland is the primary nation and setting of the story. It is the largest and most powerful country in the world, existing as a massive island nation comparable in scale to a continent. Roughly half of Bronzeland is dominated by harsh mountain ranges that are difficult to traverse and sparsely populated. The remaining half consists of sprawling plains where most cities, towns, and academic centers are located.

Bronzeland is politically stable, economically strong, and largely isolationist. While aware of international affairs, it prefers to resolve issues internally and rarely intervenes in foreign conflicts unless directly threatened. Its strength is maintained through guilds, elite power users, and the Bronze Corps.

There are four other nations in the world: Westland, Hydea, Loclinn, and Nagol. All of these nations share a border with each other. In the past they have been at odds with each other, but current day they are all relatively stable. Similar to Bronzeland, magic is the dominant power, there hasn’t been a demon sighting in a long time, and guilds are the driving force of the economy. The other nations also have their own ranking systems for top magicians, like the T15 for Bronzeland.

Guilds

Guilds function as the backbone of Bronzeland’s economy and labor force and are best compared to corporations. There are just over one hundred active guilds within the country, ranging greatly in size, wealth, focus areas, and influence.

Most guilds specialize in crypt diving or portal exploration, as these activities provide vital materials the world depends on. Other guilds focus on construction, logistics, transportation, medical services, or security, using magic, energy, or ether to streamline dangerous or large scale work.

Guild prestige is heavily influenced by combat success and reputation. Possessing a Top 15 power user dramatically increases a guild’s visibility, earning trust from clients and larger contracts from both private entities and the state. Guilds may be contracted by the Bronze Corps, though cooperation between the two is often strained.

Top 4 Magic Colleges

The Top Four Magic Colleges are the most prestigious academic institutions in Bronzeland and act as direct feeders into top guilds and the Bronze Corps. Admission is highly competitive and typically requires exceptional grades, demonstrated magical potential, or influential family backing.

Each institution has a unique focus, but all emphasize combat ability, control, and tournament performance. Rankings among the Top Four fluctuate based on student outcomes and intercollegiate tournament results. Student populations generally range from 300–500.

Academy of Magic (AM)

The Academy of Magic is one of the Top Four colleges and is currently ranked fourth. It has struggled to place competitively in recent years, reducing its prestige. AM specializes in magical theory, spell development, and combat application.

The school is led by its Dean, a former Top 15 magician who peaked at rank five. There are 361 enrolled students. Restoring the Academy’s reputation is a major institutional priority, directly influencing its deal with Sonny.

Merlin’s Magic College (MMC)

Merlin’s Magic College is named after the legendary pioneer of magic. Its curriculum is progressive and research oriented, benefiting from a currently active Top 15 dean ranked twelfth. MMC is ranked second among the Top Four and enrolls roughly 400 students.

University of Power (UP or U of P)

The University of Power focuses on all forms of power: magic, energy, and ether. Because of this, it is a major pipeline for doctors, healers, and well rounded specialists. Its dean peaked at rank eight in the Top 15 and possesses high level mastery across all power types.

UP is ranked third and has the largest student body at approximately 500 students.

Bronzeland University (BU)

Bronzeland University is the premier college in the nation and the current top ranked institution. It boasts the best funding, facilities, and academic resources. BU specializes in integrating magic and energy together, producing highly versatile graduates.

Its dean peaked at rank four in the Top 15 and retired early to run the institution. With roughly 350 students, BU has won the intercollegiate tournament three consecutive times.

Bronzeland Top 15 (T15)

The Top 15 represent the most powerful magic, energy, and rarely ether users in Bronzeland. A national tournament is held every two years to determine rankings. Fifty four competitors enter the tournament, including returning Top 15 members and qualifiers from sponsored events.

Members of the T15 are regarded as heroes and enjoy fame, wealth, and influence. In return, they are expected to defend Bronzeland during national crises.

Bronze Corps

The Bronze Corps is Bronzeland’s official military force. While many top students prefer guild recruitment, the Corps attracts individuals driven by duty or long term growth rather than profit. The Bronze Corps is state-backed but resource-constrained, which explains occasional outsourcing to guilds

The Corps assists in crypt and rift suppression and collaborates with guilds during large scale operations, though tension exists between the two groups. Despite social stigma, the Corps remains a disciplined and critical institution.

Crypts and Rifts

Crypts

Crypts are unstable extradimensional structures that appear randomly and without warning. They persist until the crypt creator or final boss is defeated. Crypts vary in size, number of floors, and danger level. Danger level is ranked A-E, A being most challenging and E being least.

Each floor must be cleared by defeating a floor boss, unlocking pathways forward. If the final boss remains alive, cleared floors can regenerate monsters. Crypts contain valuable resources that sustain much of modern infrastructure, which is why guilds are contracted to clear and harvest them.

Rifts

Rifts are similar to crypts but consist of a single floor and exist for a maximum of 72 hours. They typically have higher resource density than crypts. Monsters can exit rifts more easily, and if a rift closes while creatures are outside, they remain in the world.

Rifts emit detectable ether radiation and typically appear in populated areas, making them immediate threats. Uses the same ranking system as crypts.

Demons

Demons are the reason the Omegas were originally formed. They originate from a realm rich in ether and possess unnatural power. Although demons can appear human, their ether density makes them exceptionally dangerous.

Demons are believed to be extinct, as no confirmed sightings or attacks have occurred for centuries. The reason for their disappearance remains unknown although it is debated by scholars why they disappeared. The leading theory is that humanity gained enough power to overtake them. Another is that it is too difficult to traverse into the human realm.

Powers

There are three recognized power systems in the world: magic, energy, and ether.

Magic

Magic is elemental or sub elemental and must be innate. Users are born with varying limits and compatibilities. Magic users occupy the highest social tier due to magic’s versatility and institutional support. Dual casting is extremely rare.

Energy

Energy stems from a person’s life force and enhances physical attributes. Anyone can use energy, though excessive use is dangerous. It is most commonly used in conjunction with magic, although there are strong energy-only users. It is respected as a secondary power.

Ether

Ether is the most fundamental power, connecting all living things and the environment itself. Anyone can theoretically use ether, but training is exceptionally difficult and ineffiicient, even painful and dangerous depending on your desired outcome. Because of this, ether research/exploration is discouraged due to injury and death rates. Society largely dismisses ether users outside of healing and detection roles, masking ether’s true potential when properly cultivated. On the thread of detection, ether can be passively sensed when disturbed or condensed, but advanced techniques can suppress or mask resonance.
