Chapter Three At Leslie’s house
“Mom, guess what? When I was riding a boat with Maria at the lake-”
“Leslie, your voice is too loud. The baby in my stomach will wake up,” Mom said in a tired voice.
“What happened at the lake?” asked Leslie’s stepfather.

For awhile, there was silence, and everybody ate their dinner quietly.
“When will the baby be born?” Maria asked after some while.
“Two months later. I can’t wait!” Mom said happily.
“I’m going to sleep!” Leslie said and abruptly left her seat.
“What’s with that girl?” Mom said, frowning.
“Well, it may be stressful to have her family changing so rapidly. Let’s let her rest,” Stepfather said kindly.
