Re: Let’s Orb Cooking! Part 4
“It’s just, uh… intuition? Or something like that…”
Silence hung between us.
“…I understand. I won’t pry. But I’d like to stay in contact from now on.
Oh—my apologies. I haven’t introduced myself yet.
I’m Misaki Kagami.”
“I’m Heisuke Tōdō.”
We exchanged our Lime IDs, and the conversation ended there.
I felt awful about everything I’d messed up today…
but fate wasn’t done with me yet.
Back at Sōrin‑kan
The apartment complex was unusually noisy.
“Oh! You’re back!!”
My landlord, Mrs. Kobayashi, rushed toward me.
“Mr. Tōdō, what is this supposed to be!?”
She led me behind the building.
And there it was.
A giant green onion—
no, a three‑meter monster leek—
hanging out of my window like some kind of vegetable tentacle.
Estimated length: 3 meters
Diameter: normal leek size (2 cm)
Thankfully, the window frame caught it, so the only casualty was the pot I’d planted it in.
Apparently, the downstairs tenant reported “a long white thing dangling from the window,”
and that’s how the disaster was discovered.
From outside, it looked like a massive leek glued to the wall.
“…Sure, I said ‘grow big,’ but THIS IS TOO MUCH!!!”
“I’m so sorry!! I’ll remove it right away!!”
I ran inside and tried to pull the leek out of the window—
but it was too long.
I had to cut it down section by section with a kitchen knife, dragging it inside piece by piece.
Once the whole thing was finally in the room…
The smell hit.
A sharp, eye‑watering leek stench filled the air.
It burned.
After cleaning up, I apologized again to Mrs. Kobayashi.
“I’m truly sorry…”
“Mr. Tōdō… please be careful next time. But—how did you even grow something that big?”
I couldn’t exactly say
“I poured dissolved Skill Orb juice on it!”
“Oh, that? It was a prop! I was drying seaweed sheets and it slipped off the window!”
“…Really? It looked awfully real.”
“A friend who runs a leek farm asked me to help with a display piece! Sorry again!!”
It was a terrible excuse, but I forced it through.
Thankfully, my landlord was kind and let me off with a warning.
I bowed repeatedly and returned to my room.
Now what do I do with this leek…
For now, I shoved it into the fridge.
Then—knock knock.
I opened the door.
Mossan was standing there.
“Hei‑chan… that thing today… that was a giant leek, right?”
“Y‑yeah. I’m really sorry! It was a prop, but it fell while drying—”
“…With this smell? No way that was a prop.”
I couldn’t dodge it.
I invited him inside—this wasn’t a hallway conversation.
“…Does this have something to do with the dungeon?”
Mossan asked.
“Well… yes and no…”
“Is it something you can’t talk about?”
He looked more serious than I’d ever seen him.
I hesitated.
If I told him the truth—
I’d have to explain why I dissolved a Skill Orb,
why I had one in the first place,
and everything else.
Before I could decide, Mossan spoke.
“…Actually, I’m a Wizard.
Hei‑chan… are you one too?”
