Preface
Is this the reason?!
One of the “scripted interference” people told my son,
“Your mother is not great! We are the great ones!!”
Well, that was written by Midori Japan = Panda, okay?!
I acknowledge greatness, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to steal.
And if you don’t pay even a single yen for it, you’re no different from a thief—you’re not “great” at all!

January 30, 2011 – Super Sento (Large Public Bath)

I went. It had been a long time since I enjoyed such a spacious bath, and I had a great time taking both kids along.
My wife went in alone. Well, that’s fine—she usually takes the kids in on weekdays anyway.
On the way back, perhaps as an apology, we stopped by a bookstore. I found Howl’s Moving Castle, Volume 2.
It seemed it could be expensed, so I only had to pay 100 yen.
When I asked, “Why not just make it free?” they replied, “Please use the library. We’ll donate to increase the collection.”
I mean, I appreciate getting books for hobbies and personal tastes, but honestly, they should just raise my salary. It’s strange…
Today, I only received one document to work on. Maybe because I worked so much the day before and the day before that, I had a lot of free time.
Well, I usually spend weekends and holidays playing with my kids and wife instead of working… It’s a break.
So today, when the grandparents came to visit and I had some time to myself, I actually felt a bit lonely.
But I guess they’re being considerate, since I tend to get sick quickly if I overwork.
Before I started getting sick, even the doctors didn’t understand “overwork” and just kept piling on tasks, so I had no choice but to test and observe myself.
Today I met a lone fan. They had such a nice smile that I didn’t get too annoyed.
But I’m still not good with large groups of fans or overly pushy ones.
If everyone came up holding a 10,000-yen bill for me, I’d be happy—but honestly, I’d also be scared.
What’s scary is how people let the image of “me” take on a life of its own without my control.
Some even think of me like a god. Sure, I’ve provided some clues that helped solve certain rare diseases…
But the truly great ones are those who developed the techniques to prove the theories,
and those who laid the groundwork through steady effort.
So if someone says, “You’re not that special, so you deserve a low salary,” I find that pretty offensive.
Also, there are patients whose lives were saved but still can’t really understand it,
and that frustrates me a little (laugh). They seemed timid. Well, whatever—
I admit I might be meddlesome sometimes.
And that makes me feel down occasionally.
If I’m being meddlesome, sorry, Kan-chan.
Today there were illnesses I could identify and others I couldn’t.
Maybe I’ll give a hint to solve them soon—or maybe not (laugh).
It’s in the field of neuroscience. Anyway… time to sleep.

Panda’s Note:
I have never said it was okay to steal, not in the past or now.
I never asked anyone to steal from me.
I believe this was around the time “thought eavesdropping” began.

Afterword
Even if you work hard to prove something,
if you don’t pay for the ideas you took from someone’s mind,
how can you not think that’s the same as stealing?
