"The Port Manuscript worked best"

EXPERIMENTAL GEOMETRY AND SIDEREAL MOVEMENTS DIARY

Master H. S. Galupono — Year 412 of the Great Era of Glass

Let it be noted so that future scholars do not fall into the ignorance of the ancients: our world does not float aimlessly, but rather dances trapped in the invisible and ethereal currents of Great Aegis, the gaseous sovereign that dominates half of our celestial vault. Today, upon aligning my modified bronze astrolabe and channeling the ether tuned to the horizon of the embedded mountains, I finally traced the perfect mechanics of our 26 Long Hours clock, the changing nature of our vault, and the fate of our eleven wandering siblings crossing this ocean of pitch black and magic.

I. Of the Division of Time and the Great Concealment of the 21st Hour

"Our days are more vast and calm than the records of past eras. We divide the total cycle into 26 equal parts. At 20 hours and a quarter, when the two twin stars — the bright Solis Prime and its smaller, red sister, Ignis — begin to touch the western edge of the world, the daily miracle begins.

There is no long twilight for us. At 21 hours sharp, the immense silhouette of Aegis swallows both stars completely in a perfect eclipse. Day dies abruptly, but darkness is not sovereign. With the Sun concealed behind the giant, the Three Crystal Rings of Aegis light up in the sky like arcs of liquid silver, reflecting the hidden light. For a full hour, until the 22nd hour, we walk under a ghostly, bluish light, before the true, starry night finally rules."

II. Of the Nature and Appearance of the Sky: Day and Night

"The vault surrounding us defies the understanding of travelers. During the Light Period (the first 13 hours), the sky does not boast the pale blue that ancient manuscripts theorized for solitary worlds. Our atmosphere, dense and heavy, is lashed by the dual glow of the Twins. The sky is dyed a deep turquoise tone, almost emerald near the horizon, due to the gas filter protecting us from the fury of Solis Prime.

At noon, every man and every tower casts two distinct shadows on the ground. A dark, sharp shadow facing north, generated by the force of Solis Prime, and a second faint, reddish shadow, slightly tilted to the east, born of Ignis. They cross each other and create a penumbra effect where the contours of the world seem to vibrate.

Night (the remaining 13 hours) is divided into two faces by the very geography of the world. On the hemisphere facing Aegis, night is never black. The gas giant acts as an immense mirror, reflecting starlight and bathing cities in an eternal colorful moonlight, in shades of ochre bands and golden storms. Meanwhile, on the opposite hemisphere, dubbed by sailors as The Abyss, the sky is an absolute and terrifying pitch black, torn only by distant constellations and the pale glow of other planets."

III. Of New Tools for Navigation and Orientation

"Navigating our oceans required abandoning the old iron compasses of Lauria, for our world's magnetic core suffers constant interference from Aegis's electrical embrace. Thus, cartographers and I developed new precision instruments:

The Aegis Quadrant (Altitude Compass): Since the Great Sphere never rises and never sets, remaining fixed in the sky for each coordinate, sailors do not look to the ground to find North. They use a modified quadrant to measure the exact height of Aegis relative to the sea horizon. If Aegis is at a 30-degree tilt, the captain knows exactly which parallel of the exomoon they are on.

The Binary Astrolabe: To calculate longitudes and the hours of the night, we created an astrolabe with two movable bronze crowns, one for Solis Prime and another for Ignis. It allows predicting the exact minute of the 21st Hour Concealment, guiding merchant ships before daylight is cut off.

The Lume-Flow Needle: An experimental tool utilizing a sealed glass containing a luminescent liquid harvested from the upper layers of the atmosphere. This fluid reacts to polar auroras generated by Aegis's magnetic field, glowing with greater intensity the closer the ship gets to our world's frozen poles."

IV. Of the Catalog of the Eleven Wandering Siblings

"Looking beyond Aegis, I cross-referenced data from my glass lenses and cataloged the other bodies sharing this great two-star system:

Vulcani, Meridien, and Siroco: Very close to the burning embrace of the two stars, these three worlds of living stone and ash revolve. Their years last just a few of our days, and they sparkle like golden sparks at dawn.

The Iron Belt: A wall of floating stones and asteroids separating the fire worlds from our own temperate region.

Verdant and Oceanus: Our climate neighbors in the habitable zone. Verdant is the emerald planet, covered in dense woods, and Oceanus is a blue jewel with no dry land, a world made solely of water.

Kronos: The second giant of the system, located in the cold zone. It mimics Aegis, boasting two thin, dark rings, visible only when the night is perfectly clear.

The Ice Belt: At the frontier of eternal cold lies this second barrier, where the double sun appears as mere distant lanterns in the gloom.

Kaelum and Tartarus (The Erratics): The two specters of the borders. Their orbits defy perfect sphericity; they travel in ovals so long and tilted that they spend three hundred years lost in the abyss. When they return, they cut through the Ice Belt like arrows, disturbing the fixed stars and bringing a decade of falling meteors upon our heads before disappearing again for centuries."

I. Of the Division of Time, the Ether, and the Concealment of the 21st Hour

Our days are vast, governed by the compassionate slowness of our massive sphere, which possesses ten times the scale of the Old Cosmos's theorized worlds. We divide the total cycle into 26 equal parts. At 20 hours and a quarter, when the twin stars — the bright Solis Prime and its smaller, red sister, Ignis — begin to touch the immense cliffs at the end of the world, magic currents react, altering the lumic flow of the atmosphere.

There is no long twilight for us. At 21 hours sharp, the colossal silhouette of Aegis swallows both stars completely in a perfect eclipse. Day dies abruptly, but darkness is not sovereign. With the Sun concealed behind the giant, the arcane web surrounding Aegis's Three Crystal Rings lights up in the firmament like arcs of alchemical silver. For a full hour, until the 22nd hour, we walk under a ghostly, bluish light, before the true, starry night finally rules.

II. Of New Tools for Navigation and Arcane Routes

Navigating our vast oceans, which interconnect the 8 Great Continents of this titanic world, required abandoning old magnetic needles. The electrical and ethereal embrace of Aegis confuses ordinary iron. Because of this, helmsmen now guide themselves by new instruments:

• The Aegis Quadrant (Altitude Compass): Since the Great Sphere never moves, remaining fixed for each cosmic coordinate, navigators measure its elevation to determine the ship's exact parallel.

• The Binary Astrolabe: Equipped with two movable brass crowns tuned to the glow of Solis Prime and Ignis, allowing them to anticipate the magical tides triggered by the Concealment.

• The Lume-Flow Needle: A sealed glass tube containing alchemical fluid extracted from Avian wings, which glows intensely upon crossing magic wind currents near floating cities.

III. Chronicles of River Routes, Races, and Dangers of the Titanic World

In my journeys aboard the airship *The Alchemist*, I mapped wonders that defy the very gravity of this world of crushing pressures:

Master H. S. Galupono — Section V: Cartography of the Eight Kingdoms and Ether Seas

"The immensity of our land defies imagination. Where the map of ancient Earth would be a mere province, our world extends across Eight Great Continents, separated by three oceans of violent currents dense with pure magic. Below, I record the routes I mapped with the Lume-Flow Needle and the heteromorphic peoples inhabiting them."

[ Primordial Ocean ] ----> ( Floating Islands of Aethelgard ) - Avian People

|

[ Continent of Draco ] ---> ( Cliffs of Ignis ) ----------------- Draconian People

|

[ The Great Sea Abyss ] --> ( Sea of Ether ) -------------------- Arcane Leviathans

I. Of the Eight Continents and Their Resident Races

Aethelgard (The Suspended Continent):

Geography: An archipelago of floating islands and mountains torn from the ground, hovering over deep valleys thanks to high concentrations of Arcana Magnet-Stone.

Inhabitants: The Avians. Beings with human features, but endowed with majestic wings and light bones. They build white marble cities on the edges of floating cliffs, defying the planet's 10x gravity through magic wind currents.

Drakonheim (The Cliffs of Fire):

Geography: A continent of black rock, marked by active volcanoes and deep rifts that glow with the heat of Ignis (the red star).

Inhabitants: The Draconians. Robust heteromorphs with thick scales protecting them from high atmospheric pressure and heat. They live in fortresses embedded inside dormant volcanoes and master the forging of arcane weapons.

Sylvania (The Emerald Jungle):

Geography: A gigantic plain where trees grow up to three kilometers high to reach the light of Solis Prime. Strong gravity makes trunks as thick as castles.

Inhabitants: Feline Beastfolk and Lycanthropes. Tribes of agile hunters who use the dense woods for protection against larger predators.

High-Tide (The Inundated Continent):

Geography: A ring of land composed almost entirely of magical mangroves, endless beaches, and coral reefs rising from the water.

Inhabitants: Tritonics and Sea Serpents. Amphibious races that build submerged cities and trading ports for surface ships.

Oros (The Iron Mountains):

Geography: The highest continent in the world. Its mountains pierce turquoise clouds and serve as a shield against solar winds.

Inhabitants: Gorgonians and Stone Beings. Creatures of mineralized skin who extract precious metals necessary for the world's astrolabes and compasses.

Valia (The Plain of Kings):

Geography: The commercial heart of the world. Open, fertile fields with wide rivers facilitating transport.

Inhabitants: A mix of Humans, Centaurs, and Arcane Elves managing vast fleets of merchant ships.

Zul (The Continent of Eternal Shadow):

Geography: Located in the Abyss hemisphere (where Aegis is never seen). It is a cold place, lit only by stars and bioluminescent plants.

Inhabitants: Chiropterans (Bat-folk). Developed sonar and illusion magic to navigate total darkness.

Ultima (The Ice Frontier):

Geography: The eighth continent, situated at the south pole. A massive polar cap suffering from magnetic storms generated by Aegis.

Inhabitants: Isolated, Ice Giants guard ruins from eras prior to the Great Glass.

II. Of the Great Oceans and Their Hidden Dangers

The Ocean of Ether: A sea of dense, glowing waters that conduct magical electricity. Navigating here requires ships with copper-lined hulls to prevent arcane engines from exploding.

Hidden Danger - The Twin-Kraken: Sailors report that, due to the two noon shadows, the great monsters of this ocean attack in exact pairs. The reflection in the water tricks the lookout: when you believe you are fighting only one leviathan, its mystical copy emerges from the opposite side, striking the hull from below.

The Sea of Mists: A grey ocean separating Valia from Zul. Ordinary compasses spin wildly here due to Aegis's magnetism. Ships must use the Lume-Flow Needle to follow light currents in the sky or risk becoming lost forever in the dense fog.
