"Fortunately, only a few close associates were aware of your illness and death sentence of you. We rescinded it before it was made public, so there will be no impact abroad. I know you have many concerns, but for now, please concentrate on your recovery."
I wondered about the doctor's words and involuntarily asked him.
"Many concerns? What happen?"
For the first time I could speak successfully.
Gieder nodded and answered.
"Chancellor Radine began his activities immediately after the declaration of your death last night. He has been lobbying the council to appoint Princess Ruvie as the next Dragon Empress. The death sentence has been officially withdrawn, but we must show people that you're alive and well as soon as possible. It'll get harder to stop that clever bureaucrat midget if we're too slow."
Then Dr. Royvo interrupted.
"Mr. Gieder. You, who serve so close to the crown prince, should refrain from using such a derogatory term. We, the Chaitrang Dragon Empire is a nation of multispecies. I am sure you are aware that we are still following the edict of the first Dragon Emperor to pursue the happiness of all people regardless of their species or size. You will be held in contempt if you slander His Excellency Radine for being a small and short-lived Human race. It would not be in the best interest of His Highness."
Gieder looked bitter, but didn't argue and kept silent.
Dr. Royvo turned his head toward me and smiled kindly.
"Please take your time and get well. Is there anything you need?"
I thought for a moment and opened my mouth.
"Where am I?"
