Chapter 2 - 3 'Sightseeing' 86
"Before things get sour... come."
Grasping the unsuspecting girl's wrist, he starts off down the town's lanes, pulling her in his wake. Still stunned by the pace of events, it takes the girl a while to join cadence with Koenwin's steps. Soon leaving the crowd of frustrated shopkeepers behind and too escaping distasteful gazes.
Passing a stall selling a variety of fruits, he decides to buy one for the girl, and himself of course. Offering a ripe, red, apple to the girl. Rarely is there a decent sale like now.
Seeing her apprehension, and instead tossing it in a perfect arch towards her.
"An apple..? Ah- thank you..." She thanked meekly, studying the fruit she'd just been forced to catch.
"You must be hungry from all that running."
Koenwin is rather pleased, actually. Soloren aren't hunted and killed like some crazed beasts, instead, they are simply outcasts from the midst of society. 'Behave yourself and blend in' and you'll certainly be left alone. However, having a sale still apply is rare.
"Well 'miss falling from the sky', you should really reconsider who you bother. We're getting close to the rim islands here at 86. As you saw, there isn't exactly much friendliness or compassion towards us here. You know where the harbor is, I take it? If you're done for today-"
"No! No... I still have..."
Koenwin watches on curiously, snacking on his apple and awaiting the girl's continuation. Perhaps he was scaring the girl? After all, he is a head or so taller, and people are often warned about trusting strangers.
"You're a Soloren..." The way she spoke posed it more as a question than a statement.
"Bingo! A pretty good-looking one, right?" Kownwin cracks a silly smile, proudly showing himself off. This consequentially draws more stares of passersby.
"Why are you here then? Shouldn't you be on a more... accepting island? 86 is said to be the, well, one of the worse for us."
"Yet you still came here..." He shakes his head, giving an amused and short laugh. "I have some tie-ups with friends here. I can't go leaving."
"You could visit," The girl seems puzzled by his logic.
"Eh, airship fares are expensive these days. That said, and everything else... why on earth are you here?"
"Um... sightseeing?"
She was lying, at least, partially. There isn't anything special residing here at Sky Island 86. It's a relatively low island, with the only notable things being the views of other, more interesting, islands nearby.
"You must have gotten here early in the morning. How about I lead you to the harbor?"
"I was... er... I was looking for something... Like..." At first, she has trouble justifying her upcoming request. Eventually finding her voice again, fidgeting with an apple of her own. "If I could be selfish... do you know any nice views around...?"
Koenwin chews on his apple in thought before giving a nod. "I suppose I know a place."
