ある晴れた春の日、ひなという女の子は、新しい高校がどこにあるのかわからずに歩いていました。入学式に遅刻しそうな彼女は、突然あらぬ方向へ走り出す。突然、桜の花で足を滑らせるが、ヒカリという男の子が優しく抱きしめてくれる。
(ひなはいつも読み聞かせの絵本が大好きだった。お姫様と貧しい王子様のお話で、お姫様は王子様が貧しいと知らずに恋をしてしまいます。王子が貧しいと知ったお姫様は、自分の財産を王子に分け与え、王子と幸せに暮らします。比奈は貧しい人を知らないし、初恋の人にも出会っていない。裕福な女子校に通っていた。しかし、もっといろいろなことを経験したいと思い、公立高校に進学した。）
ヒナはヒカリを避けながら通学していたが、ヒカリは自分の日常を語り、そのほとんどが嘘であったが、ヒナはほとんど興味を示さなかった。学校に到着したヒナとヒカリは、時間の経過を感じながら、急いで教室に向かう。比奈は、自分でもなぜそうするのか分からないが、少し微笑みながら教室へと急いだ。人見知りで緊張しやすく、家族以外から話しかけられることがないため、ひかりを避け続けていた。
ヒナは緊張してヒカリを避けていたが、いつもタイミングよくヒカリが現れた。退屈なとき、居場所がないとき、何もできないとき......彼はタイミングよく救世主のような存在だった。もう一度ひかりを避けて逃げたひなは、上級生に引き止められるが、その時ひかりがやってきて、避けられてなおひなを振り払う。"どうして私の居場所がわかったの？""避けたのにどうして追いかけてきたの？"と比奈は問いかける。"通りかかったから見に来たんだ、それが仲の良い友達ってもんだ "と笑顔で言うヒカリ。比奈はゾッとしたが、同時に安心し、今までにない感覚を覚えた。
数週間後、比奈と光はお互いに友人と呼べるほど打ち解け始めた。ただ、ヒナにとってヒカリは唯一の友達だった。光はそれを知っていたので、自分の女友達も比奈の友達にしようとした。その度にヒナはヒカリの友達を冷たくあしらうのだが、ヒカリは決してあきらめなかった。"どうしてそんなに私のために頑張るの？"とヒナに聞かれた。"他の人が友達といるのを見ると寂しそうだから "と、ひかりは悲しげな笑みを浮かべながら言った。比奈はそのことをよく考えて、顔を紅潮させながら、少し微笑んで「ありがとう」と言った。その姿を見て、ひかりの胸は高鳴り、まるで手放したくないような気持ちになった。
ある日、部活を終えた比奈とひかりは、学校の倉庫に部活の荷物を置きに行く。倉庫の扉にドアストッパーをつける際、ひかりは靴ひもをひっかけてしまう。背後から何かが迫ってくるのを感じるヒナ。怖くなって振り向くと、ひかりが絡まって倒れている。ヒナは柔らかいマットの上に倒れ、ヒカリはその上でキスをしそうになりながら踏ん張っている。二人の心臓はバクバクし始める。ヒカリはとっさに顔を紅潮させ、ヒナに何度も謝り始めるが、ヒナは胸に火がついたのか笑い出す。ひかりも一緒になって、それから数秒、笑い続ける。数秒後、二人は倉庫を閉め、それ以来、二人は目を合わせることも、まともに話すこともできないまま、散歩を続けることになった。
それからの数日間、比奈はひかりを極力避けるようになり、胸が締め付けられるような気持ちになる。しかしある日、ヒカリの傷跡を見かけるようになり、そのことを尋ねようとすると、ヒカリは話題を変えようとする。彼はそのことを話したがらないし、ヒナもヒカリがいると胸が苦しくなってしまうので、もうそのことを聞くことはない。
-7月にタイムスリップ
そのうち、もう夏休みになった。ひかりはひなに、ひかりにとって特別な場所に行かないかと言った。比奈はそれを受け入れ、一緒に見に行くことにする。当日、本物のお姫様のような格好をしたヒナは、その可愛らしさにヒカリを震撼させる。後日、あまりにカジュアルな格好だったため謝るが、ヒナはその謝罪を受け入れず、彼に言う。"なんでいつも謝るの、あなたは何も悪いことしてないんだから、もう気にしないで "と。ひかりは素晴らしいオーラを放ちつつも、さらに大きな笑顔を見せる。"ありがとうございます "と言うひかり。比奈は小さく微笑みながら、見せたい場所があるから歩いていこうと言う。
電車を2本乗り継いで、ようやくその場所に到着する。ひかりは、ひなに「目を閉じて、信じて」と言う。ひかりはひなの手を取り、走り出す。数分後、ひかりは走るのをやめる。後ろから来たヒナがひかりにぶつかり、二人ともつまずいて倒れてしまう。しばらくして、比奈が目を開ける。目を開けた比奈は呆然としていた。
2台の電車を乗り継いで、ようやくその場所にたどり着いた。ひかりはひなに、目を閉じて自分を信じるように言う。ひかりはひなの手を取り、走り出す。数分後、ひかりは走るのをやめる。後ろから来たヒナがヒカリにぶつかり、二人はつまずいて倒れてしまう。しばらくして、比奈が目を開ける。目を開けた比奈は呆然としていた。「わぁ、なんでこの時期に桜が咲いてるんだろう」と比奈が聞く。「へへ、沖縄では季節外れでも桜が咲くところがあるからさ」とヒカリが答える。ヒナはそんなヒカリに微笑みながら告げる。こんなきれいなところに連れてきてくれてありがとう」。そして、二人は歩き始める。
それからしばらくして、ヒナはヒカリに自分の傷のことを聞く。ひかりは、ひなのことを信頼しているからこそ、正直に答える。そして、自分の人生について、今までのこと、これからのことを話し始める。「幼い頃に父と母を亡くした。今は叔父が面倒を見てくれているけど、叔父はすぐに酔っぱらってキレるんだ。この傷も叔父がつけたものです。お金の話をすると殴られるので、仕事を探して使えるお金を稼がないといけないんです。でも、たいていの場合、おじさんはそれを奪ってまた酔っぱらってしまうんです」。ひなは「お金もないのに、どうして私のために頑張るの！」と問いかけます。ひかりは「幸せはお金で買えるものではありません。友達、家族、恋人から幸せをもらうんだよ」と答える。涙を流すヒナ。そして、「今まで本当にありがとう」と謝り、泣き出すヒナ。ひかりはそんな彼女を抱きしめ、自分は悪くないと言う。しばらくして、ひかりはひなの涙を拭き、もう夕方だから泣かないでと頼む。ヒナはヒカリを見ると、その顔は疲れていて、悲しい笑顔をしていた。ヒナは泣き止み、二人で駅まで歩き始める。日菜は光に「何かお手伝いできることはありますか」と聞く。ひかりは、「もう、いろいろやってくれて、ありがとう」と答える。ひなは涙を流すが、その時、電車がやってきた。
数日後、ひなの携帯に1通のメッセージが届く。"一緒に夏祭りに行きませんか？"とひかりに聞かれる。彼女は迷うことなく答える。「久しぶりの再会に、ふたりはとても嬉しそうだった。その日、ひかりは祭りの入り口でひなを待っていた。すると、ひなは白と黒のバラ柄のきれいな浴衣を持ってやってきた。ひかりは唖然とし、罪悪感を覚えた。私服で立っていて、その隣には美しい女性がいたのだ。謝ろうとすると、ヒナは袋を渡し、その中にはお揃いの男性用の浴衣が入っていた。ひかりは大喜びで泣きそうになった。彼はヒナにお礼を言うと、走り去った。

One sunny spring day, a girl named Hina was walking to her new high school without knowing where it was. She suddenly starts running in the wrong direction, as she knows was going to be late on her first day of high school. Suddenly, she slips on some soggy cherry blossoms, but she is suddenly held gently by a boy named Hikari.
(Hina always loved a picture book which was read to her. The story is about a princess and a poor prince, the princess falls in love with the prince without knowing he is poor. After she finds out that the prince is poor, she shares her wealth with the prince and lives happily ever after with him. Hina didn't know anyone poor nor had she met her first love. She went to wealthy all-girls schools throughout her life. She wanted to experience more of life, and left off to a public high school.)
Hina tried to avoid Hikari while they were walking to their school, he talked and talked about his daily life, although most were lies, Hina showed very little interest in them. After reaching school, Hina and Hikari, realizing how much time has passed, both rush to their classes. Hina rushed to her class with a slight smile, although she didn't know the reason why she did it. She kept on avoiding Hikari since she was shy and nervous and no one other than her family members talked to her.
Although Hina was nervous and avoided Hikari, he always showed up at the right time. He would show up when she felt out of place when she was bored, and when she couldn't do something... he was a saviour at the right moments. After avoiding Hikari one more time and running away, Hina was being held back by her upperclassmen, but at that time, Hikari came and swiped Hina away even after being avoided. "How did you know where I was, why did you come after me, even after I avoided you?", asked Hina. "I was just walking by, and I came to see what was happening because that's what good friends do", said Hikari with a smile on his face. Hina was creeped out, but at the same time, she was relieved and had a feeling she had never had before.
After a few weeks, Hina and Hikari started to get comfortable with each other, to the point where they could call each other friends. The only thing was that Hikari was Hina's only friend. Since Hikari knew that, he tried to make his girl friends Hina's friends as well. Even though every time Hina would just give a cold shoulder to Hikari's friends, he never gave up. "Why do you try so hard for me?" asked Hina. "Because you seem lonely when you see other people with friends," said Hikari with a sad smile. Hina thought about that a lot, and said, "Thank you", with a flushed out face and a slight smile on her face. Seeing that made Hikari's heart skip a beat, it's as if he never wanted to let go of her.
One day, after finishing their club activities, Hina and Hikari walk over to the school storage area to drop off some club items. While putting the door stoppers to the storage doors, Hikari falls over his shoelaces. Hina senses something is coming behind her. Scared, she turns her head to see Hikari tangled up and falling. Hina falls on soft mats, while Hikari is holding his ground on top of her, almost kissing her. Both their hearts start to race. Hikari quickly, flushed, starts to apologize to Hina over and over again, but Hina starts laughing although her chest is on fire. Hikari joins her, and they spend the next few seconds laughing. After a few seconds, they close the storage area, and since then, they couldn't make eye contact, nor speak properly for the rest of their walk.
For later days, Hina avoided Hikari as much as possible, or her chest tends to tighten up. But one day, she starts to see scars and wounds on Hikari, and when she tries to ask him about it, he tends to change the subject. Since he doesn't want to talk about it, and since Hina's chest tightens up and hurts her whenever Hikari is around, she doesn't ask him about it anymore.
-Timeskip to July-
Sooner or later, it was already summer break. Hikari asked Hina if she wanted to go somewhere special to Hikari. Hina accepts and decides to go see it with him. When the day comes, Hina, dressed like a real princess, shocks Hikari with how pretty she is. He later apologizes because of how casual he looked, but Hina doesn't take the apology and tells him. "Why are you always apologizing, you haven't done anything wrong, so don't worry about it anymore". Hikari gives off a great aura, but an even bigger smile. "Thank you," says Hikari. Hina, giving a small smile, tells him they should start to walk to the place he wanted to show her.
After getting on 2 trains, they finally reach the place. Hikari told Hina to close her eyes and trust him. Hikari takes Hina's hands and starts to run. A few minutes later, Hikari stops running. Hina comes from behind and runs into Hikari causing them both to trip and fall. Some time passed before Hina opened her eyes. She was stunned after she opened her eyes. "Wow, why are there cherry blossoms this time of the year?" asks Hina. "Hehe, that's because, in some places in Okinawa, cherry blossoms bloom even though it's out of season" replies Hikari. Hina smiles at Hikari and tells him. "Thank you for bringing me to a pretty place like this''. Then, they start walking.
Some walking later, Hina asks Hikari about his wounds and scars. Hikari replies truthfully because of how much he trusts Hina. He starts talking about his life, how it's been and what is happening. "My father and mother died when I was young. My uncle is taking care of me right now, but he gets drunk and gets mad easily. I got these wounds and scars from him as well. He hits me when I ask or talk about money, so I have to find jobs to earn money that I can use. But most of the time my uncle takes it and gets drunk again". Hina asks him, "Why are you trying so hard for me when you don't have money?!". Hikari replies "It's not money which buys happiness. You get happiness from friends, family, and lovers". Hina starts to tear up. She thanks, and apologizes for doing so much for her and starts to cry hard. Hikari goes to hug her and says it's not her fault. After some time, Hikari wipes Hina's tears and asks her to stop crying, since it was evening already. Hina looked at Hikari, his face was tired and had a sad smile. She stops crying and they both start walking to the station. She asks Hikari, "Can I help you in any way?". Hikari replies, "You've already done so much for me, thank you for that". Hina starts to tear up, but right then, the train comes.
After a few days, Hina sees a message on her phone. "Would you like to go to the summer festival with me?" asks Hikari. She, without second thoughts, answers him. "Yes, sure, I would like to", they both were very happy to hear from each other after so long. When the day came, Hikari waited at the entrance of the festival, waiting for Hina. Then, Hina came with a beautiful yukata, black and white, rose design. Hikari was stunned and felt guilty. He was standing there in casual clothes, and next to him was a beautiful lady. As he was going to apologize, Hina gave him a bag, and inside it was a matching yukata for men. Hikari was overjoyed and almost cried. He thanked Hina and ran off.
After a few minutes, he came back, while looking better than ever, it was like a dream for him and Hina was shook at how good he looked. After praising each other, they both went inside the festival. Hikari saved up some money and used it at the festival. Hina and Hikari were having so much fun until the fireworks started. Hikari took Hina's hands and started to run. He ran through a forest area which led to a standby area, by a lake. "Where are you taking me?" asked Hina. "Just wait, follow my lead," replied Hikari. Sometime later, they both reached the place, and right then, the firework show started. Hina's eyes widened, she started smiling and tears came out of her eyes. "I am sorry for all the trouble I caused you this year," she says, and in a soft voice she also says "I... I like you". Hikari's eyes widen, and says back to her, "I am sorry, I can't put a burden on you". "THAT'S FINE!" She cries back. "When I come close to you my heart beats faster, my chest hurts, and my head hurts. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! So please..." she says with tears running down her face. Hikari takes a napkin out of his pockets and wipes her tears away. "It's not fair, I can't see you with those tears, so please stop crying, I always liked you too," he says with a weak smile and tears running down his face. They stay there hugging and weeping until the fireworks are done.
They then enjoy one month of dating, amusement parks, zoos, shopping and more until one day, Hikari doesn't come to school for 3 days again. Their home room teacher tells Hina to take handouts to Hikari's house. She goes to the location given by the homeroom teacher and finds a wooden shed, and the only person who was in the shed was Hikari's uncle. "Are you Hikari's uncle? Where is Hikari?" she asks him. "Who are you? Don't ask me about that freak, he got what he wanted and deserved". Hina got mad and asked him again, but more violently "Where is Hikari?". "What do you want from me you little bitch, you're too loud, for now come in with me" He says while grabbing Hina by her hand. Little did Hikari's uncle know, Hina knew and trained Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo for self defense. She kicked Hikari's uncle's solar plexus which made him leave her hand and then did a upper cut with the feet move which made Hikari's uncle dizzy. Hina yet again asks him but with even more anger "WHERE IS HE?". "H-he went for wor-K near" *cough* "Near the s-station" he replies. Hina then kicks him on his face which makes him fall unconscious.
Hina takes off to the train station store, trying to find him. She ran and ran until she saw a body near a dark sidewalk near the store. The body was all beat up and almost dead. Hina calls an ambulance knowing it's Hikari. While the ambulance came, she tried to give him CPR, trying to keep her tears to herself. The ambulance came and took him while she was left there, thinking about her choices in life, thinking about Hikari, thinking about what she could have done better.
After a few days, Hikari regained consciousness and started to cry when he saw Hina looking at him. "Sorry, sorry, I...I am so sorry" he said to Hina. "STOP IT, STOP APOLOGIZING, stop it... please" she replies with tears running down both sides of her face. "Stop making me worry so much, please...". "I am sorry for making you worry, please stop crying, I will never leave your side again," He says while taking his weak arm and wiping the tears away from Hina's face.
A few days later, Hina walks in with food and other items Hikari needs when she hears loud shouting coming from Hikari's hospital room. She goes inside to see Hikari's uncle asking when he is going to come home and give him money. He gets even mad when Hikari says, "I am not coming back there". Hikari's uncle turns red, and picks out something from his pocket, right then Hina steps in and kicks Hikari's uncle's hands and sees a pocket knife. She gets angry and tells him, "Hikari is going to live with me from now on, you have nothing to do with him anymore". "What do you mean? I am his uncle, you're no one, don't come in when I and Hikari are having a conversation," he says back to her. She calls the security guard to take him outside, and he never interferes with them ever again. "It's fine, I am going to find a job and rent out my own house," Hikari says to Hina. "No, I don't trust you enough, I am sorry but you are staying with me". Hikari smiles at Hina and agrees with her. He then stays by her side for the rest of the year.
January 2028
Time has evolved from the first time Hina and Hikari met. New technologies, new friends, and more. It was a joyful and enjoyable 10 years for them both. Hikari found a job and is working day and night, so he doesn't have to go back to the life he had before.
January 2030
Hikari proposed to Hina, and she accepted. Overfilled with joy, they decided to hold their marriage sometime in the next 5 months. Hina is taking over her family business and is better than ever.
March 2030
It is the month of their marriage, both happy and filled with tears. Hina is in a wonderful bridal gown, and Hikari is also looking in an astounding tuxedo, they both look like a wonderful couple.
December 2034
Hina gave birth to their first child Natsu Tenki. They read him Hina's favorite book "The glowing hearts of spring" after a few months.

Natsu started to go to school, he looked like a happy young boy, smiling to his heart's content.
