Christabel meets Geraldine... at the day before Easter ?

Gaku Hagiwara

In the poem "Christabel" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, we read the season of its story as early spring, and the night of full moon;

Lines 18 - 22

The moon is behind, and at the full;

And yet she looks both small and dull.

The night is chill, the cloud is gray:

'Tis a month before the month of May,

And the Spring comes slowly up this way.

Easter always falls on a Sunday between 22 March and 25 April, within about seven days after the astronomical full moon.

Now, Christabel meets Geraldine at the night of full moon, the month before May.

Was it before the Easter Sunday? I think so.

But why it is before Easter? Because she shall die and resurrect, I guess.

Gospel of John 2: 4

Jesus:

“Woman, why do you involve me?”

“My hour has not yet come.”

John 13:1

Now before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

Lines 221 - 213 Geraldine:

"Off, woman, off! this hour is mine—

Though thou her guardian spirit be,

Of, woman, off! 'tis given to me."

Geraldine is Jesus, whose hour had come.

John 3. Jesus:

13 No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

Lines 227 - 228 Geraldine:

All they, who live in the upper sky,

Do love you, holy Christabel!

Geraldine has ascended into heaven, and knows All they, who live in the upper sky. She must be lifted up in the sky, just as the serpent in the wilderness, who had lifted up by Moses.

John 19: 34

Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out.

Lines 252 - 253

Behold! her bosom and half her side——

A sight to dream of, not to tell!

Lines 433 - 434 Leoline:

He swore by the wounds in Jesu's side,

He would proclaim it far and wide

The wound in Jesu's side is one of the Stigma.

Conclusion: Geraldine is the Dead Jesus, on the cross, owing all sins of human beings. She appears the features of a serpent, because it is the symbol of Resurrection.

Christabel must grow up, and to be the Christ, after Geraldine ascend into the heaven. Christabel will meets to Geraldine, after her death, in the heaven, at Easter Sunday.

John 6:54-55

“He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the Last Day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.”
