Hyped for work, I greeted early morning with zeal. Why, may you ask? Well, the jubilation I am feeling right now has something to do with what happened last night together with the extremely good news the next day.
“That should be the only ones tonight, I guess.” After taking care of the intruders there was nothing more to do. So, I decided to fulfill the last duties and responsibilities for the day -tidying up the library.
I was feeling a bit tired. I had cleaned the school premises in a single day. Coupled it with the constant bickering from noble brats. To make it worse I had to take care of those five ruffians (probably sent by the Co-Head of the Registrar’s Office to try and sully the names of the Romarias). While looking at the masses of books in front of me instantly drowned all those worries and tiredness away.
They say that books are windows to another world. Right now, although already in ‘another world’ and yet those words still hold true to me. Not only as a teaching professional in the previous world but as a pure hobbyist, and a reader by choice, the books became treasure troves and a tiny comfort started to swell in my heart.
In front of me are books that hold more secrets, more stories, and more windows to a vast world I could only imagine, which was nothing I have experience in my previous world.
“What should I do?” curiosity has drowned me with euphoria. “How do I go about this?”
Jumping merrily, I started to pick books one after another on tables not returned to their shelves, all the while reading some of their contents before completely returning them to their proper shelves.
I had trouble with some jargons and some very advanced terminologies but most of them were still readable even with my somewhat limited vocabulary by reading through context. Had it not been for the education I got from Sir Heid and Lady Anna, this would have been very difficult. I thanked the two all the while reading more of the books until time lapses. I had so much fun reading and deciphering the meaning of the words and eventually received something from it.

“There really is no Limit to Learning.” while reading some books that relate to these skills, they leveled up just as easily. Well, I already knew this when I was studying at the Romaria’s small library and learn a few stuffs, imagine what I could learn from a school library filled with a lot of references. Even Grim-chan agrees.
“Got to read while I still can.” Too bad, I won’t come able to back here again though. Why you may ask? I was sent here in the first place for one reason: it was to ensure that I would get sacked (plus damaging the image of the Romarias), there is no way that scrawny Co-Head would allow me to stay working here just because he (and five people he sent) messed up.
The next day however would betray my expectation and I am sure it also did for the Co-Head. Early in the morning while doing my regular duties awaiting the verdict. Old man Greg and old man Billy approached me in high spirits.
“What did you do in the library last night?” Here we go, I said under my breath as old man Greg calmly approached me all the while lightly patting my shoulders. Old-man Billy was just nodding his head endlessly as if he himself has done something good.
“Nothing, I just returned the books to their shelves…” was that bad?
“You’ve done it!” Old-man Gred continues patting as he continues to pat my shoulders, while giving me good news. “They seem to have liked what you did and asked the Head of the Personnel Department to let you continue working there every night.”
‘Yosha!’ I internally screamed with joy. Not only do I get to stay for the job, I get to read… I mean, clean the library at night.
While this may be another world, I noticed that the library of the Romarias has something similar to the Dewey Decimal System. I used it as references to arrange the books in the library last night. Of course, there were extra shelves for Magic and other Fantasy based books like Monster Bibliographies and others, but having some similarity made my work last night easier.
That knowledge and hobby became my saving grace… Books really are the world’s greatest treasure! Looks like I will be looking forward to another book tryst in the coming nights. A grin showed in my lips.

The books could wait though; I needed to remove a few troublesome stuffs. Thankfully I was given a work off just after my morning shift. According to old-man Greg, it was tradition to have a work-off after the first day of work to allow the rank-and-file employees to adjust in the academy and sort out where-to-buy-what. Given a work-off, I decided to visit places inside the Academy City.
Working in the academy was fruitful. In fact, it might even be more advantageous for me to work here rather than become a student. While it was true that as a student, I would get certain privilege and entry to almost all school facilities, students however are not allowed in certain areas outside the campus even during non-class hours.
The greatest perk of being an employee rather than being a student is that I can go to places without too much trouble. There are even places that are restricted to students and teachers alike that me as a common employee is still able to go without making much of a fuss.
Right now, I am heading to a certain part of the city that would be suspicious had I enrolled as a student.
In this regard alone, I would give my thanks to the scrawny co-head that he placed me as an employee and not a student. Had he not tried to sully the name of the Romarias and tried to get me sacked (or worst gotten me killed) I might have forgiven him but…
As soon as I got in the outermost parts of the city, the number of uniformed students and personnel begun to dwindle. The looks on some of the people here are murderous… is it okay for schools to have these kinds of people? Well, I am sure that the knights on standby just beyond the ramparts would do something if it gets too dangerous.
Now that I think about it, I was a bit unsure about asking these people about my business here. However, I did not know any other people here and so decided to move towards my destination.
“Where is the sword pointed?” While looking uncertain, a man had approached me instantly pinning me to the right place as he then asked a weird question.
“Away from the crown.” While it should be weird, I gave the reply as indicated in Lars’ instructions – The old uncle who I had gotten acquainted through the escort mission. The question earlier was probably some sort of a password. As soon as he had affirmed my response, the man immediately beckons me to enter the door he had concealed with his large body.
“Are you the acquaintance of Lars?” the door led to a bar where the bartender immediately asked me about my acquaintanceship with Lars. “Heard you helped him a lot…”
Right, this is the place that Lars had directed me if ever I am in trouble. Am I in trouble, you may ask? Not really, but I might have encountered something troublesome. The incident on the library would have ended a bit bad whether I successfully apprehended those thugs or not.
Yet, the next day the only news that got to me was how I classified the books and not the thugs. Truthfully, I just deliberately made sure the thugs went missing. Did I slice them into tiny bits and threw them in the river? Of course not! I am not some scoundrel. I just made sure to have they became unconscious and secretly carried them outside the gates without detection from the guards.
Right now, I just needed somewhere I could place them secure and safe while I am staying in the academy city. The place Lars introduced me looked like a good place to hide them for the time being and asked his associates for some help.
I then informed the bartender who heard from Lars to come to my aide should I approach with something troublesome.
“Looks like you’ve gotten ya’r self into trouble the moment you step in school.” The bartender was sympathetic. “All right, but only while you are in the city, once you leave, they can go, is that correct?”
“Yes, here is a small amount for the trouble as well as finances for their meals.” I then handed a hefty amount of ‘Pera’ to ensure that the five bandits have meals. The bartender graciously accepted and started to prepare meals for the five bandits who have almost died (had it not for my mercy). Well, they were probably just paid to harass me and did not deserve to die.
Since Lar’s associates did not ask much. I decided to refrain from talking anymore than necessary and soon after giving the money and thanking them I left the bar and made my way to one of the four major Academy City Squares. My destination is the one in the north side of the Academy City, where a lot of students, teachers, and other staffs from the Administration Building frequent.
As soon as I left the shadowy slums, the street became bustling with life and vigor. There were a lot of things to buy and places to go in fact I just saw a good place to increase the level of my Blacksmith Craft, there are also shops good for shopping materials to start grinding my Dressmaking and Tailoring Craft Skills.
“Arg!!!!!” while browsing for goods I am about to buy on certain shops an intolerable pain strikes me. This painfully familiar sensation stems from an outrage of MANA overload, meaning my MIS was active. I always get this pain when dealing with Casting Type Monsters and yet I am inside a city full of people.

With Grim-chans direction I increase my KI to suppress the MANA that constantly attacked me and search for its source. Eventually I was lured by the loud shouts to a certain gallery. There, two students who were glaring each other bearing both their fangs and MANA at each other.
“Your shabby MANA is still pitiful as always, Magnus Ramirez.” A young man in blue coat with ample pride and arrogance smirks at the student in front of him. His MANA had a fiery chilly on it.
“Shabby as it is, it is still enough to beat a noble to the ground, you do well to be careful Alfred Fritzer.” Although not as much as the other young man with the blue coat, this student wearing a red coat was also showing a different arrogance and pride.
“That is Great Noble Alfred Sanctis y Fritzer Mordredia to you plebeian.”
“I will remember it. Not!” These kids, are they seriously thinking of doing it here with a lot of people?
Mob mentality eventually kicks in as one of the entourages casted a spell marking it a signal for all students present to start hurling magic of their own at each other despite the crowd and their leaders stopping them, leading to the City Square in massive explosions.
All this explosion and it still before lunch, why are these kids so hot blooded.
