In the Persian Market: The Roar of an Empire
Episode Twenty-Seven: The Queen’s Ascension, the Crown of Thorns
1. The Coronation in the Wasteland
On the wind-scoured wasteland leading to Persepolis, there stood no grand cathedral, no kneeling nobles.
Only ten thousand soldiers of the Market Army, and silent refugees scarred by war.
“Rituals can wait… If we do not do this now, the people’s hearts will scatter like sand.”
Cyrus spread a tattered imperial banner upon an improvised altar.
At its center stood Nirfar, gripping the sacred seal of her father, King Reza.
“My gentle spring has already passed.”
She cut her long hair with a dagger, letting it scatter in the wind—
a farewell to the woman she once was.
2. Words of Oath
Nirfar faced the gathered host.
“I will no longer command you as royalty. I swear to become the first shield that protects your market.”
“They will say Persia died with my father. But as long as people live, think, and wish to survive—Persia lives. Do not call me queen. Call me your comrade.”
A roar shook the wasteland.
“Nirfar!” “Our Queen!” “We are your blades!”
3. Cyrus, Supreme Military Advisor
“…That was one hell of a speech, Your Majesty.”
Cyrus knelt beside her.
“This is my investment—my entire life, wagered on your crown.”
Nirfar clasped his hand.
“I entrust you with this nation’s purse and its lives. Buy this country back from Alexander.”
4. Shahab’s Shadow Deployment
Watching from afar, Shahab murmured,
“Pretty words won’t guard a throne. Kabir—let’s move.”
The shadows slipped toward the capital ahead of the army.
5. Fate in Motion
Danesh rushed in.
“Alexander’s main force has crossed Gaugamela—advancing faster than expected. He heads for Persepolis.”
Cyrus struck the hilt of his broken blade.
“Good. Let’s finish it. Persepolis will be the most expensive battlefield in history.”
