New Era of Magic
Prologue
The little girl watched the dazzling tail of light falling upon the earth. It was the first time she saw the beauty and the terror of nature.
As the light fell, it wreaked havoc, annihilating one-third of mankind. Catasrophic volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and earthquakes ravaged and devastated the rest of the world.
The girl clutched the man, horrified by the power of nature —
….Or something unnatural.
She realized they were no longer on Earth but were somewhere on the moon without any space gear. Initially, she gulped for air and trembled in fear, her gaze fixed on the man.
Sensed a wide range of feelings from the man who was sobbing while angry and grinning, including pain, joy, and grief.
The little girl grasped everything and concluded that it was not nature’s anger but the wrath of that young man who she relied on.
“Why? Why is it just me? Why am I still alive? Why does everyone have to die? Why ..? Why ..?”. She began to reflect on her situation. She stood, determined to save the world from the maniac in front of her, but she was overcome by fear that gripped her entire body.
Realized she was powerless.
And had no choice but to accept what was happening. The girl hugged that man close and shut her eyes.
Events happening on Earth were distinctly visible — gleaming volcanic eruptions, and land merging beneath the ocean, fabricating the new shape of the planet.
Everything happened in a moment. The young man lifted his hand, placing it over her head, and said, “Let’s go home”.
ᒥ“Gate.”ᒧ
And the patch of a black ultrathin, but so deep as if it went on forever, floating and expanding. “Come on, let’s go” he murmured as he stepped into the oval-shaped darkness.
It was a curious sight, but at the same time, it made her feel undescribably uneasy.
A door? was what came to mind when she looked at it.
She glided through that dark patch, ostensibly a door, and emerged in a desolate wasteland.
The patch closed slowly, almost as if it vanished into thin air. She looked around to figure out where she was. All she could see was a lifeless landscape. When she gazed up towards the sky, she could vividly see the sparkling and shimmering stars and the moon.
"Home, huh?" she said, knowing she was back on Earth, or at least the planet that was meant to be Earth. The man knelt on the ground. Life ceased to exist on Earth.
All she could do was apologize for her powerlessness and regret —
…. Only if she could stop him, the world could’ve been a better place.
Good morning, Readers.
Thank you for your time in reading this. Despite the fact that this is only the prologue, I hope you will continue reading my work. Many narratives and adventures will take place during the main plot. Despite the fact that it was initially written in English. I intend to convert it as soon as feasible into Japanese. Please read it with interest. Thank you for taking the time to read this.ogue
