When I was a toddler

I used to gaze at the ceiling patterns

I'm fascinated by geometric patterns

I would find patterns from the combination of ceiling tiles

Some were easy, some were hard to find

The patterns that lined up vertically or horizontally were simple and clear

The diagonal patterns were unique and attractive

When I started to walk

I still looked at the ceiling

I'm crazy about geometric patterns

I would find more complex ones from the puzzle of ceiling tile

Some were tricky, some were cleverly designed

I found one that moved two tiles sideways and one tile up

The intricate patterns were full of surprises and discoveries

Sometimes the patterns I found would break off in the middle

I wondered if it was a mistake in the pattern or the tile placement

That was also great fun to figure out

That represented the imperfections and uncertainties of life and the world
