目覚めると同時、僕は手の中のピザカッターを地面に力一杯叩きつけた。
「ユエ、そのピザカッター役に立つかもしれないよ？」
脳内に響くマリアの平坦な声に、僕は苛立ちを隠せない。
「は？ ピザカッターは、ピザ切る道具でしょ？」
「よく考えてみて？ キャンディの紐や、ガムの包み紙、クリップは武器になると思う？」
「思わない」
「ピザカッターはどう？」
「んー、Line（糸）が出ない今となっては、武器になるかもしれないね」
「Yes！」
にわかに信じがたい……。
いや、ピザカッターだよ？
ウィルと名乗るウィルの縮小版と出会い、そして『ウサギちゃん』と言う名の、臓物を撒き散らす不気味な着ぐるみモンスターと対峙する。
――この、ちっぽけなピザカッターを握りしめて。
「....これまでか...」
「死にたくない…っ」
背中にしがみつく小さなウィルが、震える声で泣きじゃくる。
「僕だって、こんなわけ分からない状態で、ピザカッターを握りしめて死にたくはないよ」
「何とかならないの！？」
「物理的な意味を言ってるなら無理だね。所詮はピザカッター…。ピザをカットするだけの道具だよ」
ジリジリと迫り来る、首なしウサギの群れ。
「僕たち死ぬの？！！ 死ぬのは……嫌だよ！！！」
その時だった。
指先が、微かにむず痒い。
僕は、ひとつの確信を突いた。
「ウィル！ 君が『死にたくない』っていう思いを、もっとぶち撒けるんだ！！ そうしたら、僕は強くなれる！」
「僕は！！！！！ 死にたくないよ！！ ユエと生きていたい！！！」
少年の魂からの叫びが、空気を震わせる。
その言葉がトリガーとなり、僕の血は完全に覚醒した。
僕は迷わず、ピザカッターの刃を自分の指先に押し当て、皮膚を引き裂いた。
——滴る鮮血。
それは瞬く間に形を成し、意志を持った兵隊へと変貌する。
———— Marionnette（人形）。
「もっと強く！ 生きることを願うんだ！」
「死にたくない！！！ 僕はずっとユエの側にいたい！！！！！！」
ウィルの悲痛な叫びに呼応するように、指先から無数の紅い閃光がほとばしる。
————Line（糸）。
「行こう！ ワルツを踊りに」
僕はウィルの小さな手を引き寄せ、ステップを踏んだ。
指先を軽く振るうだけで、目にも止まらぬ速さで展開された鋼のLineが、迫り来るウサギちゃんたちの首を、胴体を、四肢を、あっけなく両断していく。
ヒュンッ！ ズババババッ！！
「アハッ、いい眺めだね！」
舞い踊るMarionnetteたちが、ピンク色の森を真っ赤な血飛沫で染め上げていく。
ワルツの旋律に乗るように、僕は優雅にターンを決めながら、群がる肉塊を次々とミンチに変えていった。
「はぁ…はぁ…」
すべてのウサギちゃんを薙ぎ払うと、さすがにかなりの体力を消耗してしまった。
「ウィル、ケガはないかい？」
「うん…」
「よかった。……どうやら、ウィルをエスコートする事が僕の使命のようだよ」
ウィルの「死にたくない」と言う執着と、僕の「守る」と言う気持ちが重なった時、僕の能力は全開放される仕組みだ。
――と言うことは、ウィルが死んだら…詰み（ゲームオーバー）、と言う事か。
この、叫ぶだけの足手纏いの子どもを庇いながら、ずっと戦うのか…。
そんな残酷なルールに気付き、ため息をつこうとした、その時だった。
ゴオォォォォォォォォォォォッ！！！！！
突如、空が割れるような轟音が響いた。
「え？」
目の前の光景が、強烈な勢いで上空へと吸い出されていく。
……巨大な、ダイ○ンも真っ青な超特大の『掃除機』によって。
薙ぎ払ったウサギの死体も、飛び出した臓物も、芸術的に飛び散った血痕も、容赦無くノズルの中へ消えていく。
「まてまてまて！！」
僕の身体まで、ふわりと宙に浮いた。
「ユエ！！！」
僕はウィルの手を取り、力強く抱き寄せた。
僕のLineを地面に突き刺し、アンカーにして耐えようとする。
だが。
「あ！ 無理かも…」
アンカーにしていた巨大なショッキングピンクのキノコが、根元からスポンッと抜けた。
「はあ…」
僕の抵抗は、あまりにも虚しく終わった。
……掃除機に吸われて死ぬのか。
「何ともな…」
こんな、狂ったゲームの世界で、小さなウィルと出会い。
最強の力を覚醒させた直後に、謎の巨大掃除機に殺される。
ホント、なんだかな…。
