第六話 強制洗浄と断末魔のドラム

扉を潜った先。
そこには、吐き気を催すほど異様な光景が広がっていた。
「……見覚えあるような、ないような」
きししししししし……
不快な摩擦音が反響する。
ハッと横を見ると、さっきまで隣にいたはずのウィルの姿がない。
「ユエ！！！ ユエエエ！！！！」
悲鳴に上を見上げると、はるか頭上の巨大な洗濯バサミに、ウィルが「洗濯物」として吊るし上げられていた。
そして――異常なほど暑い。
「マリア、ここ暑い気がするんだけれど……」
「気温は30度。上昇中」
「洗濯物って、暑いと乾くの早いよね？」
「当たり前のこと聞かないで」
つまり、早く登り切らないと、ウィルが干からびて死ぬってことだ。
その時、頭上から大量の『水』が降り注いできた。
足元から急速にせり上がってきた水位は、あっという間に腰まで到達する。
「待ってよ！ もしかして、これって洗濯機！？」
「もしかしなくても洗濯機」
僕は、あの悪趣味なウサギのぬいぐるみの『腹の中』にいるわけ？
なるほど。僕が溺れて死ぬのが先か、ウィルが熱で干からびて死ぬのが先か。
どちらにせよ、片方が死ねば詰み――最悪のデッドエンドだ。
次の瞬間、溜まった水の中に、紫色の趣味の悪すぎる液体――『洗剤（融解剤）』がドロリと投入された。
水に混ざったそれが肌に触れた瞬間、ぴりぴりとした激痛が走り、鼻をつく焦げ臭い匂いが充満する。
「はあ……よくもまあ、こんな悪趣味な処刑法を考えてくるよね」
「ユエ…暑い…」
「必ず助けるから！！ 待っていて！！」
僕は、ドラムの壁面に手を這わせる。
……柔らかい。
「マリア、ピザカッターと、さっき手に入れたペーパーナイフを頂戴」
両手に具現化された二つの刃を構える。
足元では、紫の液体がじゅうじゅうと音を立てて僕の衣服を溶かしていた。
「お気に入りの服なのに！！ 最高の靴なのに！！ 酷い！！」
怒りに任せて、僕はピザカッターとペーパーナイフを、柔らかい壁面に深く突き立てた。
――うぎゃぁああぁあ！！！
壁が、ブルブルと痙攣を起こす。
構わずそれを足場にしてよじ登っていくと、頭上から頭にプロペラを着けたウサギが現れた。
心なしかニヤニヤ笑っていて腹が立つ。
その手には、僕の背丈ほどもある巨大な「裁断バサミ」が握られていた。
"Line..."（ライン…）
"Marionnette..."（マリオネット…）
「マリア、武器を回収して」
「分かった」
壁に突き立てたピザカッターを思い切り蹴りつけ、僕は虚空へと飛び立った。
「キキッ！！」
襲い来るウサギの群れ。巨大なハサミが僕の脇腹を掠め、鮮血が舞う。
「……っ！」
痛みに顔を歪めながらも、僕は"Marionnette"の糸でウサギの首を拘束し、その頭を思い切り『踏み台』にしてさらに高く跳躍した。
蹴り落とされたウサギは眼下の紫色の濁流へと落下し、ジュボッという音とともにドロドロに溶解していく。
息が切れる。
切り裂かれた腕や脚から血を流しながら、僕は次々とウサギの顔面を踏み砕き、上へ、上へと跳び続けた。
天井に近づくにつれ、ジリジリとした殺人的な熱気が僕の肌を焼く。
「よくも……僕の！ お気に入りの服を！！ ドロドロにしたな！！！」
怒号とともに、"Marionnette"の凶刃がウサギの目を深々と切り裂く。
「ユエ……そのボタン、ドクドクしてる」
マリアの声に視線を向ける。ウィルを吊るしている洗濯バサミの根元、そこには心臓のように脈打つ不気味なボタンがあった。
吊るされたウィルは、すでにかろうじて生きているという状態だ。
「くたばれ！！！」
僕はありったけの力を込め、その脈打つボタンめがけて腕を叩きつけた。
拘束が解け、落ちてきた小さな身体を、僕は空中で強く抱きしめる。
「ウィル！！ ……マリア、水」
「ペットボトル、保管しておいた。水はさっきの敵から採取した。成分は調べ済み」
マリアが具現化したコーラのペットボトル。
僕は干からびかけたウィルの口に、少しずつ水を含ませた。
熱気と痛みで、世界が歪んでいく。
迫り来る融解剤によって衣服をすべて溶かされ、一糸まとわぬ『全裸』の状態で、その惨状を見下ろしていた。

After passing through the door, a nauseating scene spread before my eyes.“…I feel like I’ve seen this before, but then again, maybe not.”
A creepy grinding noise echoed.Suddenly, I noticed that Will, who had been next to me just moments ago, was gone.
“Yue!!! Yueee!!!”
Looking up, I saw Will suspended from a giant clothes peg high above, dangling like laundry.And then — it was insanely hot.
“Maria, it feels like it’s getting really hot in here…”“The temperature is 30 degrees, and rising.”“When laundry dries faster when it’s hot, right?”“Don’t ask obvious questions.”
So, if we don’t climb up quickly, Will will dry up and die.
At that moment, a large amount of water started pouring down from above.The rising water level quickly reached my waist.
“Wait! Could it be… a washing machine!?”“No need to guess, it’s definitely a washing machine.”
I was inside that tacky rabbit plush’s belly, huh?I see. Either I drown and die, or Will dries up and dies from the heat.If one of us dies, the game is over — a worst-case dead end.
Suddenly, the water was mixed with a purple, hideously unpleasant liquid — detergent (dissolving agent).The moment it touched my skin, a sharp, stinging pain surged through me, and the air filled with the smell of burnt flesh.
“Sigh… It’s incredible how they came up with such a tacky execution method.”“Yue… it’s so hot…”“I’ll definitely save you!! Just hold on!!”
I crawled my hand up along the drum’s wall.…It was soft.
“Maria, give me the pizza cutter and the paper knife I picked up earlier.”
I gripped the two blades that materialized in my hands.The purple liquid at my feet sizzled as it dissolved my clothes.
“This was my favorite outfit! These shoes were the best! It’s awful!!”
Fueled by rage, I drove the pizza cutter and paper knife deep into the soft wall.—Ughhh!!!!
The wall trembled violently.Ignoring it, I used it as a foothold and climbed higher. A rabbit with a propeller on its head appeared above me.It looked smug, which only made me more irritated.In its hand was a giant cutting scissor nearly as tall as I was.
“Line…”“Marionnette…”
“Maria, get the weapons.”“Understood.”
I kicked the pizza cutter jammed into the wall and leaped into the air.
“Ki-ki!!”A swarm of rabbits rushed at me. The giant scissors grazed my side, and blood splattered.
“…!!”
Wincing in pain, I used the “Marionnette” thread to restrain the rabbit’s neck, then kicked off its head to use as a stepping stone, leaping higher.The kicked rabbit fell into the purple, murky waters below, where it dissolved with a splat.
I was running out of breath.Blood streamed from my slashed arms and legs, but I crushed one rabbit’s face after another, climbing higher and higher.
As I neared the ceiling, the oppressive heat grew, burning my skin.“How dare you… ruin my favorite clothes!!!”
With a roar, I drove the “Marionnette” blade into a rabbit’s eye, slicing it deep.
“Yue… that button is pulsing.”I turned my gaze at Maria’s voice. At the base of the clothes peg holding Will, there was a strange, pulsating button that resembled a heart.Will, who was hanging, was barely clinging to life.
“Die already!!!”
I gathered all my strength and slammed my fist down on the pulsating button.The restraints broke, and Will fell. I caught him tightly in midair.
“Will!!… Maria, water.”“I’ve got a bottle. The water is from the enemies we just defeated. I’ve already analyzed its composition.”
Maria manifested a cola bottle.I carefully fed Will some water, little by little, as he nearly dehydrated.
The heat and pain warped the world around me.My clothes were completely dissolved by the detergent, and I stood there, naked, overlooking the grim scene.
